Shippo the Fox Wrote:Really. The only warning you need to hand out to new players is that Rangers should be the last class you think of choosing as a first character unless you're lucky enough to score a decent weapon by the time you hit 50 dungeons.
Other than that, any class is a decent choice considering the only real hard dungeons are the Ancients. Specifically Screaming Cave and Noire Ferra.

You'll probably be there for that Chronicle, but not sure bout me. Pretty much 2-4 hours of DFO a day if I am leveling a character or farming, and adding in now the NPC gifting, it's starting to take a toll on me (because gifting ~100k in stuff everyday so I can make money) and getting bored now. I think I may need to take a short break so I don't quit altogether.
*I realize I have too many characters so my mawney is spent everywhere. Halp

I know that feel. I took a couple months off while waiting for Priest Patch. Been loving it ever since.
As for your characters...just quit the ones you really don't care about. For instance, if you plan to get some dual builds, they will make your Magic Exorcist redundant.

Seeing there's an event going on, guess I'll go take spend a couple days away from DFO, and to be fair I was planning a PvE and PvP P. Exo. I know Magic is more gud, but I can't pass up investing so much time into smashing things with an axe.

In all seriousness, Rangers are a fun, quick, and very damaging class, good at producing lots of hits and kiting enemies all over the place. You lack the defense to take many hits, but you can easily dodge and interrupt enemies in exchange. The main problem arises from the fact that our percent damage means that your weapon plays an integral part of your power, which really isn't much of a problem until you start to hit higher level dungeons, and even then, a +7 purple of your level will usually suffice. Getting a more powerful weapon will just make you wreck dungeons like they were made out of cardboard.

So! I'd like to ask you pros for more build advice. Let me know if this is getting annoying.
Looking for an Elementalist pure PvE build. Dark/Light good for that? If so, please rate this build I jacked from DFOSource: http://tinyurl.com/43bghcb
I wanted some second opinions because I have no friggin clue how their skills work, or how dated this build is. If there's any better choice than Dark/Light, I'd like to know that too

If there's any better choice than Dark/Light, I'd like to know that too Dark/Light is great. The build is good, but I think it can be optimized a bit (and that planner's outdated). Here's how I would do it if I had to respec to dark/light:

Maxed Void is probably not essential, I just love it too much to not max it. Certainly preference though. If you leave Void at 5, you can max out Ancient Memory (int buff)/Light and Dark mastery. Or Mana Shield/Ancient Library, but I wouldn't recommend those.
Get the prereqs for the higher skills and try them out and see if you think you like them enough to have them maxed I guess. Your own play style's really important in planning out a build.

If it makes you feel any better, Vestibule was uber hard for me at first as well, eventually it got to be pretty easy. After you get used to the timing of his attacks, and how to avoid them with different skills, he's much easier. Though sometimes he can still be a particularly annoying boss for Melee characters, he pales in danger compared to later bosses. <.< *Hates Dendroid Jungle or First Spine on melee characters for example, pineappleing inescapable combos*

Trying to come up with a general class guide, and need some personal input from the following classes if possible:
Spitfire
Battle Mage
Witch
Launcher
Brawler
Grappler
Soul Bender
Weapon Master
Asura
Can some people pick one of em, and give their input on the following, including out of 5 how good they are in that category. If you think the class is THE best at the category, feel free to give a 6/5. Example would be a Sader would have 6/5 for party support:
Offense
Potential Offense
Defense
Attack Range
Single Target Damage
AoE Prowess
Survivability
Soloability
MP Efficiency
Beginner Friendliness
Class activeness
Party Support
Flashiness
Affordability
Offense is the power of the class with clean/low upgraded level appropriate gear.
Potential offense is with a +11 or better.
Survivability is factoring in everything that helps the class stay alive, such as mobility, disabling monsters, defensive buffs/attacks, armor, HP, etc.
Class activeness is how button mashy you get. Ranger/F. Mech/Monk can be considered button mashy. Launcher is definitely a class that doesn't button mash so much.
Everything else should be self-explanatory. If you don't feel like writing, I can research it myself.

Asura
Offense: 5/5 Dat fixed damage.
Potential Offense: Hmmm. . . giving it a 4/5 because of Ghost Orb and Agni which can be killer moves.
Defense: 4/5 Dat plate armor.
Attack Range: 4/5
Single Target Damage: 5/5 Agni, Ghost Orb.
AoE Prowess: 4/5
Survivability: 4/5
Soloability: 3.5/5
MP Efficiency: 1.5/5
Beginner Friendliness: 3/5
Class activeness: 3/5
Party Support: Is this like party skills, or just in general with helping killing things? 1/5 if former, 4/5 if latter.
Flashiness: 5/5
Affordability: Can be either 2/5 if you choose Katana, or 5/5 if you go short sword.
