Back to MS and I have TONS of questions!
#1
Hello, hello!
I just came back to MS a week ago after a 2 years break and there are TONS of new things!
I started in ElNido because... ehhh, well I guess thats a story for another thread Biggrin

Aaaanyway I have a whole bunch of questions so I will just make a list and hope to get some answers ^^

1. How do %stat work? I know you get it from base stat but does it round up, round down or what?
2. What is %attack and %total damage?
3. What happened to Gachapon tickets? I can only buy 1 at a time.
4. I see a lot of new classes, but only Dual Blade intrigues me. Are they like Evans or can I get Mastery Books in any other way?
5. How do you get Unwelcome and VIP equips/weapons?
6. I was told bosses are easier now, that they do less damage. But, do Thiefs and Hunters still need to HP wash?
7. What happened to ore drops? How am I supposed to make a nice weapon? Sad

These are more class related:

8. Are %dex equips worth it for thiefs? Wouldnt I need high base dex to get something out of them?
9. It would be better for me to get %luk equips, right?
10. Im not poor but Im not rich either (for now) when should I cap my dex? I want to use a Craven or a Lampion

I think thats all for now Tongue

1. Pretty sure it rounds down like most things in Maple, but someone can feel free to correct me on that.
2. Percent attack bases it off of your total weapon attack. Percent damage bases it off of your total range.
3. When you click to buy one, it will give you the option to bundle them.
4. You can get the mastery books elsewhere, but they don't give you the bonus SP and have a failure rate.
5. This was from an event PQ. We're hoping they bring it back. It was removed with Big Bang.
6. They are relatively easier in terms that they don't massacre ranged classes. It's unlikely that you will need to wash with %HP gears(Chaos Zakum Helmet, Chaos HT Pendant, Rex Earrings, etc) along with Decent Hyper Body(gained from potentialed pants) or a regular Hyper Body.
7. Definitely go for LUK if you are a thief.
8. See above.
9. It completely depends on what you consider poor or rich and what you can afford based upon your server.

I guess ores don't drop anymore, but don't worry about it. Maker is being completely revamped into the Profession system in a few months, and you'll be able to mine ores then.

First off. Welcome back to Maple! I've been on a 3 year hiatus myself (pre-4th job) so I understand how lost you felt upon returning. I'll do my best to brief you.

LashhxD Wrote:1. How do %stat work? I know you get it from base stat but does it round up, round down or what?

As it stands, the formula to calculate your total stats is as follows:
[(base * MW) + straight bonus] * total % potential

Be sure to round down.

LashhxD Wrote:2. What is %attack and %total damage?
% Attack increases the total w.atk or m.atk you have by a percentage. % total damage increases your total damage by a percentage.

LashhxD Wrote:3. What happened to Gachapon tickets? I can only buy 1 at a time.
Upon clicking buy, there's a drop down menu that lets you select other increments.

LashhxD Wrote:4. I see a lot of new classes, but only Dual Blade intrigues me. Are they like Evans or can I get Mastery Books in any other way?
You can either purchase the skill books from the cash shop or hope for a lucky drop. I would recommend the first option as you get bonus allocated in the skill you master with. Unlike Evans though, Dual Blades are a very solid class (feel free to argue about this).

LashhxD Wrote:5. How do you get Unwelcome and VIP equips/weapons?
Unwelcome Equips can only be acquired from Gachapon now. VIP can no longer be procured. Previously, the Unwelcomed items came from a Visitor event and the VIP gear came from Visitor PQ. Neither of which are available now, but there's been mention by the Nexon America staff that they may return.

LashhxD Wrote:6. I was told bosses are easier now, that they do less damage. But, do Thiefs and Hunters still need to HP wash?
The bosses certain do less damage. But thieves and hunters are still recommended to HP wash. However, there's gear existing that increase a percentage of HP (such as Rex Earrings providing 10% more HP) that reduces the amount needed to wash.

LashhxD Wrote:7. What happened to ore drops? How am I supposed to make a nice weapon? Sad
Nexon was stupid and removed ore drops 4+ months prior to the release of Chaos. You have to pay a premium if you want to make your weapons now. It's recommended that you straight out buy the weapons you're looking for instead.

LashhxD Wrote:7. Are %dex equips worth it for thiefs? Wouldnt I need high base dex to get something out of them?
No. And as it currently stands, the difference between dexless, low-dex, and normal dex are minimal. Just stack tons and tons of % LUK and you'll be fine.

LashhxD Wrote:8. It would be better for me to get %luk equips, right?
Provided that you're the average thief, in most cases, each w.atk is equal to 1% LUK. You can probably do the math on that.

LashhxD Wrote:9. Im not poor but Im not rich either (for now) when should I cap my dex? I want to use a Craven or a Lampion
Where you cap your dex now doesn't matter because of the %LUK potential. And aside from Lionheart Castle, nearly everywhere you train will have enemies that you'll most likely kill in 2-3 hits. If you want my take, just build your character the way you like.

Ah, whoops. Didn't notice your ore question since you numbered incorrectly. Sinnuendo's answer covers that though.

They only mentioned that they notices how much we liked alien based events and looked into making more out of this. I heard nowhere in that chat "we are thinking of bring back visitor pq". It was an extremely vague answer in that chat.

Thanks a lot! Tongue

Base*MW? D:

ShanghaiDizzy Wrote:% Attack increases the total w.atk or m.atk you have by a percentage. % total damage increases your total damage by a percentage.

So %damage is better than %attack?

ShanghaiDizzy Wrote:Upon clicking buy, there's a drop down menu that lets you select other increments.

Yeah, didn't notice until like a second ago... lol

I see... I can charge NX and all but I don't like the idea of wasting 36k on that... :/

About the Hyper Body potential on bottoms someone mentioned can you get it in any kind of bottoms?

ShanghaiDizzy Wrote:Nexon was stupid and removed ore drops 4+ months prior to the release of Chaos. You have to pay a premium if you want to make your weapons now. It's recommended that you straight out buy the weapons you're looking for instead.

Ewwwwwwwwwww. So I'll have to buy rocks 7k each at fm which was what worried me the most... Tongue
But I have a new question... new maker thing would be similar to the current system? You will be able to use strengthers and stuff? ;O

Thanks a lot to you and everyone else that posted.
Helped a lot!

Hyper Body can be obtained on level 70+ pants but be prepared to spend over a hundred dollars trying to get it. You might be better off just buying pre-cubed pants.

Yeah.

LashhxD Wrote:About the Hyper Body potential on bottoms someone mentioned can you get it in any kind of bottoms?
Only level 70 and up. You have to wear the pants to use the skill. Then just swap out for % LUK pants.

Similar, not quite. I'm not sure the details myself, but there's no strengtheners which is lame.

Don't they also have to be unique? Or was it epic? Cannot remember.

Total Damage is better, but as far as I know, they do not stack. and if you have multiple lines with Total Damage, the lower one is taken into account.
eg, you have a wepon with 9% Total Damage and 6% Total Damage, in this case you would only benefit from the 6% Total Damage.

With the advent of Chaos though I'm not too sure whether they will stack or not, because I've heard that boss damage will stack(which currently doesn't) but haven't heard much about Total Damage
