Main plot point I can gather, some 10 year old boy teaches an all-girls middle school and some sh'it with magic and the boy trying to find his dad.

Eh, the series really changes gears as it goes along. It has a few scenes here and there that refer back to its beginnings as an ecchi, but it becomes more of an action series as it goes along in addition to being somewhat of a parody of shonen and RPG plots.

Ohi, Welpcome Bach to the Four hum.

Ken's staff wanted him to keep making ecchi harem after the success of Love Hina, but he wanted to move on and make an action. So in order to please everyone, he made an action series that starts off as a silly harem for the first 5 or so volumes, then it gradually turns into more action. But at the same time it has the charm of being an action series that doesn't quite take itself seriously and throws in tons of parodies and jokes.

It's by no means a masterpiece, especially story wise, but it does get better in the later volumes. the first few are so different from the newest ones. The first few volumes are essentially filler. Though I wouldn't recommend skipping them either because they have important info in them every now and then.

Overall, don't continue reading if you don't think you'll like it. But why the hell would you take Khoi's recommendations over mine anyway? Try Oyasumi Punpun.

Yeah, have fun with that. First action arc starts chapter 17-ish, isn't long, and isn't any real action anyway. You won't get into the more action oriented arcs until maybe volume 5 or 6 at earliest, and I'm too lazy to check when those are. Even then, it's still finding the balance between action and the harem comedy, but later on it gets to the point where there's entire volumes with maybe only half a chapter with filler ecchi and the rest of the volume focusing on action.

It starts getting better during the Kyoto School Trip arc, though the action only really starts during the Mahora Academy Festival arc and only gets better during the Mundus Magicus arc.
