Eddikins Wrote:Just did my first normal with Eve, didnt go too well but i did fine in my opinion 4/5/9

I ganked first blood which was fun, ganked a couple more times, then the enemy team just started buying oracles and roaming as 1 big group. Eve has no place for teamfights other than clean up when people are low or incorrectly positioned, so it was 4v5 fights, and we didnt really have any good stuff. We had a Veigar that was one of those people that locks in and requests a tank, who was uber squishy and all our damage. We had no AD and our tank was Nasus, so in the end we just lost because i had nothing to provide other than backdooring and we had no damage..

Oh but they were scared as hell. 3 oracles, 4 pink wards in lanes, and pink wards in mid when they pushed mid as a 5 lol.

When they roam as 5, split off and start pushing lanes and knocking down towers, or kill dragon. If you're using wards you should be able to do both safely and get away in time.
Eddikins: 5man premades are always more difficult than lesser premades. The reason is that you will only be matched up against other 5v5 groups, so
you more than likely will fight a team that is experienced together as a group.

I generally stick to 4man premades for the win, only 1 moron to worry about.
I need some good lee sin ideas, mine have been sucking since he seems.... weak?

Way late.

He's bad.

He's not bad, he's average. He's average in ganking ability, average in jungle, average in lane, average in team fights, average in damage, average in health, etc. He's pretty much a perfect example of a jack of all trades, master of none champ. Which of course means he's not nearly as good of a pick as someone who has something they excel at, assuming you can play them well enough. Part of it is due to the energy system, part of it is due to his passive, and most of it has to do with his q, w, and e all being halfway decent, but not spectacular. There are better shields, better gap closers, and better aoes. If I had to pick a way to improve him, I'd probably throw out his e, and give him something that would help his team fights, and also buff his shield some. Maybe give it a bonus effect shared to all team mates when cast upon one or a % damage based one instead of a flat physical damage one. I'd probably have his E send out shockwaves around him, knocking up enemies for varying amounts of time depending on the distance from him in a circle around him. That would actually make him pretty well suited to his current kit. He'd fly into a carry, use his knock up, hit them a few times, kick the carry out, and then hopefully have enough energy to shield out. <.< Of course that's just my thoughts on how to improve him.

He would be the jack-of-all-trades for melees.

Nidalee strikes me more of the most jack-of-all-trades of everything, except being tanky and CC.

I really tried to do this, but it was never a safe time. Id go off when i knew they were all mid and then suddenly they'd all be missing and i know they were going for me so id immediately back off. I got 2 towers from doing it but then they'd just push mid really hard and we had no effective team comp to stop it. Did i say our Nasus said he was going tank, yet the only item he had that could even be considered tanky was an Aegis..

I dunno if we could have had a turn around, because once the enemy team got our inhib, our Nasus and Brand quit for some reason so we had to surrender. I do realise now that i should always be pushing when the enemy are in other lanes, and i should probably get an oracles when i start doing it to be on the look for wards..

That explains a lot if im quite honest.. I didnt know anyone in our room but one, so i had no experience haha. I made sure to lane with my friend because i knew she would have some clue to help when i initiate.. but it didnt happen.
Not to rag on my friend, but she plays champions that should be getting a lot of kills but hides for teamfights. Like she played Malzahar in this 5v5 and i didnt see her ult once. She would literally hide far back and then maybe put down a pool on the minions in a lane while everyone else is trying to get rid of the champions pushing our lane lol :l
5 man premade (playing with friends) ----> 3 losses in a row; we had to throw in the towel after 20 minutes for 2 of those matches simply because we got slaughtered too many times. The hell. Hothead

Yeah, he's average. But he's bad. You won't carry a game being a good lee sin.
>Pineapple' Wrote:Yeah, he's average. But he's bad. You won't carry a game being a good lee sin.

No, you can carry a game with Lee Sin, but it requires that the enemy team be made of mostly late game champs and the game ending early. He's average during all parts of the game, so if you have a lot of champs who have a crappy early game up against him, he can effectively shut them down then. Of course the opposite is true too, if someone has an uber strong early game, they'll crush him early game because he's just average. Some of that can be mitigated by the person playing the champ, but other parts can't.

And Kaj, yeah Nidalee is a pretty average all around champ, although I don't think you can really do hybrid on her, so something on her will be weaker than other parts. I guess you might be able to come up with a hybrid build that works, but I think it'd be ridiculously expensive and leave her less useful than specializing would. Then again I don't play Nidalee so maybe I'm wrong. XP

Exactly. He's only good under a very specific set of conditions.
Anyway, since we can all agree that Lee Sin is a rather dissapointing 6300 champ, I decided to give Maokai a try while he was free.

I was pleasantly surprised that going full tank on him is kinda like Cho'Gath. He can still dish out some damage while doing his job. We stomped them pretty hard, and I ended up with the best KDA ratio at 11/5/18 because the only way they could kill me was in full on 4 or 5 person ganks/team fights. Also, enemy team fighting my team in my ult = LOLwin. They got baron, and I caught Ashe out of position, nuked her with our Ashe, and then cleaned up the rest of their team. We had a few more team fights, but I would catch Anivia or Nocturne out of position, and once I snared them, laid down my ult, essentially saying, time to team fight or let this guy die. XP I might just have to pick him up sooner rather than later if he's this good. It gets kind of tiring going Amumu/Malphite most of the time due to my team lacking hard cc, and while his snare isn't quite as good as a knockup or stun, it does wonders against anyone fleeing.

Or you could get better at skillshots in general. Just because Maokai's snare is a point-click-win skill, doesn't mean it has its own downfalls; the most obvious one being that you can't blind shot someone in the fog of war or grass.

You could also try to get a more consistent internet connection. Seriously, if I would choose between connectivity that stutters between 50 ms and 200 ms, or connectivity that is constantly 200 ms, I would choose the constant 200 ms connection. Of course, this is speaking about playing some online games.

In terms of interrupts, Maokai only has one, just like Amumu and Malphite (ult).

Eh I do need to improve on my skillshots in general, but the whole internet thing isn't something I can fix giving where I live and the way our internet is set up atm. I suppose I could see if running an ethernet cable to my laptop would improve things, but I'm not entirely sure that would improve my connection consistency much. Maybe I'll give it a try to see if it helps, if not, then it's beyond my control since there's only one internet provider available here, and it's what it is, for better or worse.

And yes, I do love being able to escape/initiate/disrupt via Malph ult or grab someone from across the wall/hold everyone in place as Amumu, and I do play them quite a bit, but after getting good with lots of different tanks, I'm always looking to add another to my options at the selection screen. With Galio and Shen being the only two I don't have any real incentive to get atm due to their low utility outside of his ult and high skillcap respectively.
Shen does most definitely not have a high skillcap. If I can play him with somewhat reasonable effectiveness, I would think most people can since I'm a below average player. It boils down to keeping an eye on your teammates to ult, Vorpal Blading effectively (harassing and healing yourself/allies, which really isn't difficult), when to turn around to Vorpal Blade + Ki Strike + Feint a towerdiving retard, building defenses according to the enemy team, and taunting to take the DPS off your team or to break channels.
The first time I ever played shen I went 7-0 with a hefty amount of assists, iirc. Normally I do well whenever I'm trying out a new champ but dear lord... he's easy.
The whole "map awareness" thing was a bit of a shock to me when I first picked him up, but after I got over that hump there wasn't really much left to learn. There always will be things to refine, so.
To both of you, he may indeed be easy to play, but to me, he's a pain in the ass. I could get better with him if I spent some time and effort improving my skill with him, but I have other champions I'd rather spend time trying out and learning. So he remains on my list of champions I'll get last.

And also, in my opinion, he does have a high skill cap. An excellent Shen player is going to have excellent map awareness, skill awareness, champion awareness, etc. that can change the way team fights, ganks, and entire games go. Few other champions can say the same.
I'm almost at the point where I have another batch of 6300 IP. But I've been pondering this for a while: should I buy another runepage specifically adapted for a jungler, or should I try out new champions? In the case of the former, I will need to buy armor seals (not sure about glyphs), but it is a minor expense of 1890 IP. As for new champions, I have my eye on Trundle.
ElectricSix Wrote:An excellent Shen player is going to have excellent map awareness, skill awareness, champion awareness, etc

Anybody should have this o_o
This isn't things that shen should have, these are basics of playing the game at higher levels.
