Poll: Where in the World Are You?

Satellite Wrote:You are wrong. It was originally made for Global audience. Back then there was no Europe MS or even Maple SEA. There's still no Australia MS, there's still no Middle East MS.

Now what you seem to be saying that Nexon America shouldn't give a rats ass about anything outside US/Canada in a game that was supposed to be MapleStory GLOBAL.

It's same as if eMS changed to MapleStory Germany and blocked all other countries from playing the game. Nexon can't just ignore the fact that we have our history in gMS, we have our characters in gMS, we buy nx from gMS and our friends are in gMS.

It is not about what timezone they should prefer, it's that it's so easy to work around the timezone problem for anything but server checks.

2x events: Create event coupons that are manually activated, but expire inside 24h (how is this coded? Give everyone a box and when mapler clicks it, they receive a 2x card (activated the moment they get it).

Hot time: 2 Hot time events at different times. Make it so that only 1 hot time can be made inside 24 hours.

Key word there being "was". It may have been at one point, but it isn't now, and it hasn't been for a very, very long time now. Just because it was at one point doesn't mean they should cater to such a small portion of the community.

Because, there isn't any real reason to. Again, this is Nexon America here that we're talking about. Not Nexon Korea, not Nexon Japan, not Nexon Europe, not AsiaSoft. Their games are now and have been for quite some time created for North America. About 3/4th of their player base is based in North America. Not sure where you got this con voluted idea that it was supposed to always be a global version, either. That makes no sense. There were 6 other versions of MapleStory that went live before our Maple, it was never going to be nor supposed to be a global version forever.

It wouldn't really be a x2 event then. While I personally prefer the idea of having a x2 card to use at any time because it has several more actual applications than just allowing most Non-North American players to use it, I can see why they don't give them out anymore.

As far as Hot Time events go, with that logic there should be 4, maybe 5 Hot Time events. No matter how many events you hold, somebody is going to be cut out of the equation because of the time zone differences. Plus, something like this would allow people to use other accounts to participate in the other Hot Time events, after already participating in others.

It makes no sense to do so much more work for something that would only benefit small portions of the community.

FoolsLove Wrote:How about no. This is MapleStory currently being run by Nexon America. It's made specifically for North American (specifically US/Canadian) people, and well over half the population of the game is from there. It makes no sense to, nor should they cater to the small portions of people that play the game from elsewhere.

Big-ass-mega-huge facepalm... How long are you playing on this server? One year? You clearly are a selfish person who doesn't see that players from Europe who are still playing on the original GLOBAL server are left out. It's just sad to see that persons like you think the game is all about yourself. If you can't get profit from it, you get mad as pineapple. Seriously, kid, grow up and learn to fucking share.

I've been a part of MapleStory since a few weeks after closed beta first started for this Maple.

I'm not being selfish, if anyone is being selfish it's you, lol. Your post is rather indicitive of that.

I see that they are being left out, and I have many friends from outside of North America that are also being left out, but unlike a few people here, they aren't getting pissy over it. Just going to quote my previous post because it's annoying restating the same thing over and over.

Not a kid, either.

Only an idiot would call 25% of a player base a small and insignificant portion.

Even if it is nowhere near the actual percentage. (13k votes vs 126k views)

Considering that it's rather obvious that a very vast majority of the player base is from North America, 25% is an insignificant amount, if the poll does translate to being accurate on the larger scale.

25% will never be an insignificant amount when talking this many people.

It isn't like it's hard for Nexon to know what the exact percentages are. I have a feeling the only reason for this poll is either so they don't have to do the work to find out themselves, or as a "community awareness" stunt.

Take a look at this.

Nexon Wrote:Greetings! As of May 23rd, 2007, MapleStory Global will no longer accept new users from the European region.

However, you can join MapleStory Europe and experience the one-of-a-kind gameplay MapleStory offers!

We apologize for the inconvenience. Thank you.

That still means players who registered before that date should still be able to enjoy the game. Basing on current events they cannot, really. Talking about events that is.

In the moment I write this 73% of the votes states they live in the NA area (US or Canada). To call 27% insignificant is plain stupid. It would take little to no effort for Nexon to take that into account when scheduling events and such. They do not need to host 5 different versions of EXP events or anything, some simple finger tip feeling would go along way and would make the enitre user base happy. Nexon made a choice when they did not IP ban old players outside of their new service area and continue to accept their money, and they should obviously show them some respect following that choice.

They just have to make the event through quest bulb. Prompt "do you want your 2x now? Y/N" at the normal time and whatever time is convenient for the other 27%. You can only answer yes once a day.

Kind of hard to do and it doesn't really serve to do anything other than please the player base, but whatever. It's a suggestion.

They did this for Scadur's Hunters Luck events. No reason they couldn't do something near identical for any exp event.

Except just have the coupons expire at 12 PM PST and give out 4 of them. Downside being if you D/C a lot you're screwed...still, you could take breaks in between instead of grinding your ass off for 2 hours straight, which is more beneficial now that LHC exists since a party can form and be disbanded in a matter of minutes.

Nevermind Europe for a moment. We can assume that Nexon America is not-so-subtly trying to get them all to leave and play EMS.

But what about Australia? They do not have any other version of MS to play. In fact, I believe they are IP blocked from all but GMS, or most. Nexon America sells NX cards in Australia, and they obviously cannot be used for any other version of Maple. You cannot possibly say that Australia is not part of GMS' target playerbase.
Players in the Middle East are also able to play and create accounts in GMS (with no need for proxies), although they don't get to purchase NX and might be able to play EMS as well.
And yet, all GMS events are at weird and inconvenient times for Australia, the Middle East, and many other areas that don't have their own MS version and are directed to GMS by Nexon's own website, when they want to download and play MapleStory.

Now, obviously it would make no sense to have events timed for ~10% of the playerbase only, because that would just cause the American addicts to either whine about not being able to participate (no matter how many similar events timed for them there would be) or get up in the middle of the night to play.

However, the solutions suggested upthread, such as using Hunter's Luck instead of 2x events, or having multiple instances of Hot Time (which, like Ani invitations, you can only accept once a day), would make Australians and other non-Americans feel a little more at home, without taking anything away from Americans.

Mexico here.

If they ever did a Spanish MS, I'd probably uninstall Maple Story for good. BrazilMS is a clear example on why it would be a big fail.
