Current results suggest that every third mapler in gMS is not from US/Canada. Maybe Nexon should think their schedules again. Especially hot time.

Current results suggest that 2 of every 3 maplers are in US/Canada, so no, they have it right when they set the 1 minute long events to be at US/Canada times Hurt

I hope this doesn't cause any IP blocks. As far as I remember, Nexon doesn't offer character transfering between MS versions. GMS should stay as AmericaMS, IP blocking central and south america wouldn't change anything as only what? 10%? of the MS population actually comes from these areas while on the other hand most hackers are chinese people that does it for business.

I'm pretty sure Nexon doesn't even know -how- to IP block. EuroMS exists, but a good number of my friends that play on GMS are actually European. No IP blocks there. Look at all the hackers that are banned regularly. No IP blocks there since they clearly return.

Europeans are i.p. blocked from making new accounts or login in to accounts made after a specific date. I don't remeber what that date was, but it was around the time EMS came out (for obvious reasons).

So which time zone should the next hot time event be scheduled for? Should it be convenient for the 10% in Australia/New Zealand? Or for the 8% in Europe/ Middle East? No matter which time zone you do an event in, some group of people is going to be screwed over. They probably schedule events for peak hours of play time so the most people can use them, and for 70-80% of players that's sometime during the day/early night in the Americas.

Simple. 2 hot time events inside 24h, and if you have participated in other, you can't enter the other.

True, but even a toddler can bypass the block. All Euros need to do is download 1 program and turn it on before they log in to MS.

How about no. This is MapleStory currently being run by Nexon America. It's made specifically for North American (specifically US/Canadian) people, and well over half the population of the game is from there. It makes no sense to, nor should they cater to the small portions of people that play the game from elsewhere.

Hmmm, I knew that much. But I was under the impression he meant IP blocked from being able to play period.

How about you stop being so god damn selfish and learn how to share your game with other people. It was "Global" when I started playing, and if I'd have known that I wouldn't be able to participate in events a few years later then I wouldn't have joined, but I did and so did many other people so we all deserve the same treatment.

I'm not being selfish. I'm being realistic. There isn't any reason for them to schedule events or anything aimed at people outside of North America, because that isn't their target. Just because it was Global once doesn't mean they should cater to the small demographic outside of their targeted area. They created other versions of the game to accomodate other portions of the world for a reason. Even if they were to do such a thing, it would require far more work than they should be doing. Given the big time difference, they would have to do events at unrealistic times.

I'd have no problem with them doing so if it was a Global version, but it isn't anymore, and hasn't been for a very long time.

So how would it directly affect you if they did cater to the minority by doing 2 hot-time events, as previously suggested?

It wouldn't, never said it would, but it's un-necessary work that would only be for a very small portion of people. There isn't any reason to do so, just makes no sense.

Nexon could use the excuse that the purpose of the second event is so those that had stuff to do during the first one (job, appointments, homework, etc) can still enjoy despite not being able to assist. Nexon, would look more generous, players would be happier, everyone would win.

As for the extra work isn't it as simple as activating an option in their program to turn 2exp on? I got no idea but if that's so then the most extra work it would cause would be a few more lines in their advertising mentioning the schedule of the second event.

On a more serious note, I'm not entirely too onboard with the whole LatinoMS idea. I feel like it would just crash and burn like BrazilMS did. There isn't a significant population who plays online games within those countries, much less people who could manage the offices/servers/games/etc. And if they did open LatinoMS, I already predict that not many people playing will be very respectful, and try to take advantage of the game as much as possible. Being latino myself, I know my race has issues in regards to proper respect and manners. I'm not saying everyone is like that, but in a general scope of things, yeah.

Since IPs are assigned usually by region, I really wonder what the point of this poll is. They can easily do a count based on the IP.

You are wrong. It was originally made for Global audience. Back then there was no Europe MS or even Maple SEA. There's still no Australia MS, there's still no Middle East MS.

Now what you seem to be saying that Nexon America shouldn't give a rats ass about anything outside US/Canada in a game that was supposed to be MapleStory GLOBAL.

It's same as if eMS changed to MapleStory Germany and blocked all other countries from playing the game. Nexon can't just ignore the fact that we have our history in gMS, we have our characters in gMS, we buy nx from gMS and our friends are in gMS.

It is not about what timezone they should prefer, it's that it's so easy to work around the timezone problem for anything but server checks.

2x events: Create event coupons that are manually activated, but expire inside 24h (how is this coded? Give everyone a box and when mapler clicks it, they receive a 2x card (activated the moment they get it).

Hot time: 2 Hot time events at different times. Make it so that only 1 hot time can be made inside 24 hours.
