Eh I did customs til I was around lvl 11, but after that I bit the bullet and started doing normals. It takes a while, but you get a lot better once you start playing against good/decent players. I'm at like 180+ wins and around the same losses, and I still feel rather inexperienced/noobish at times, but the nice thing is that the more experience you have with different champs and games, the easier it becomes to win games, or at least not do terrible in them.
At least not do terrible, I would agree with. Easier to win... well, that's a stretch.

And then there's the chance factor with MM. Not to say that it's terrible. But last night, I premade with WillDaSnail and a friend of his. We got matched up against lvl 30s who all had 400+ wins, while our team had three people less than lvl 30. I know that wins do not necessarily equate to how good one is, but it DOES mean they have more experience in more situations.

We were largely uncoordinated, and our MF kept on getting instagibbed, while our main tank Cho kept on getting shut down hard. They lost Teemo rather early for some reason, so eventually they had to face defeat in a 5v4 scenario. It was a very close game.

Ive been winning normals lately where the other team have had between 500 - 1400 wins. idk how matchmaking joins you up exactly but its kinda crazy o.o

idk why i didnt do more normals if im honest, it just kinda snowballed that i messed around with friends as practise in customs (and now co ops) and suddenly im like level 27 with 20 or so wins.
I feel a lot more confident now, and i can actually say co op vs ai intermediate is very good for practising champions. Im pretty good with amumu right now (-brag-) and thats all thanks to learning his kit in co op matches.

I suppose the more accurate way to put it would be the more experience you have, the more likely you'll be able to exploit the weakness of the other team. A good example was the game I just played as Ryze. I was up against a Malz bottom lane, so I got QSS as soon as I could afford one, inbetween buying my regular items. Result: At least 2 or 3 times during the game, I QSS his ult and killed him. I tried to get the rest of my team to buy them, but weren't up for it, so I just tried to set it up so I took him on one on one as much as possible.
So i made up my own AP Eve build. I tried AD out 3 times and it doesnt feel as good as AP (that 1:1 ratio on Ravage is kinda insane)

I wanna try it in a normal game but im scared of being completely shut down by wards and oracles..

*ahem cough ahem*. Such a horrible night for me. Frown

Well if the other team starts using Oracles, have your team focus on them - assuming they are competent enough - so they are forced to waste $ countering you every time they respawn. And that enables you to not get shut down.

And ironically, you can get Oracles too if you want as a ward countermeasure.
Sorry for double post

Just got out of a game. I decided to try jungle Amumu, and all I have to say is that having 1 point in EXP mastery (utility) makes a HUGE difference during early game jungling. And doing lane harass while jungling is pretty fun.

Learned firsthand how damn important utilizing wards is as a jungler, especially on Dragon (early game) and Baron (late game). So more food for my overall LoL knowledge.

We still lost though. My score was 8-8-14.

Edit:

A new champion approaches - Rumble the Mechanized Menace!

Hmmmm.....

Use that to your advantage, Theres nothing that can inflict more global fear in a game than a invisible champion. At first people would mesure you to see if you are worth the trouble to buy wards/oracles(At least decent to good players should do that first). If you are indeed worthy then thats a plus for your team, Vision Wards and Oracles are QUITE expensive, making the other team money hungry if you are doing a good job of killing those wards/champs with oracles. But of course, if you instead get sloppy at keeping check of those wards (You don't really have to destroy those) you will get focused upon and each kill they get off you, is a refunded ward/oracle for them.

Dont be afraid too much but make them be afraid of YOU instead. MIA Champs are a scary thing.
played a game with mr kajiti, he carried me, was nice. He owned a kog mid as ashe and i ran around doing a whole lot of nothing as lux. First real game ive played in a while, was fun.

 real tank

next game did premade 5 with my roommates and played ryze. Was a lot of fun too, ened up building banshees, frozen heart, sorc boots, manamume(sp?) void staff and was working on a force of nature(the other team had a decent vlad)

OMG MY EYES ARE BLEEDING!!! wtp is that Noc build i mean, wtp?

Assassin taking or what?

Wit end its a fairly useless item against people that have buyed + mana items, Since if you are doing your Freaking job as a assassin/carry, everything should be dead within 5-10 hits, in which most cases in late game you arent doing those hits alone so it gets even worse.

Other than that your carry ryze game made me laugh.

@Phoenix: Start Lecturing your Gf on how to use wards efficiently, those pomegranates are God tier in every game.

@Birdie: Kaitiji is god tier too. Too bad my Elo seemed to be SO FREAKING BAD compared to him that our 3 games played together were so bad that he could not even carry to victory Sad. Also i was a fairly fresh noc so that could have been a reason for that too XD
Looks like I'm not as rusty as I thought. Played my first actual game in forever on my main account and carried my team as Kat Smile

dante9898 Wrote:@Phoenix: Start Lecturing your Gf on how to use wards efficiently, those pomegranates are God tier in every game.

I think teaching her the basics is first priority.
I'm so mad. So in the beginning of our game our Anivia ragequit so it was 4 v 5. We were losing, but we held on.

Then I frigging dced at the 19 minute mark.

By the time I waited 2 minutes for the queue we already surrendered.

Now I have another stupid leave. Great. I have like 8-9 leaves for like 160 games.
So, Alistar. I've done a few bot matches and one smurf game (those are hilarious no matter how bad my team is) and I'm ready to do a few normals, but I'm torn on opening items. Between Soul Shroud and Shurelya's I've decided Shurelya's is probably a bit better, if only because I can sit on the philo stone for a while. But how do I start for that? Mana manipulator is such a no-brainer choice in comparison. For Philo would I get the faerie charm and mostly blue pots? Or something completely unrelated and start shoes or mana crystal + pots. I want to end up pretty straight tank, with an eye on Frozen Heart, FoN, Shurelya's, and shoes as what I go for. Last two items are negotiable. With those move speed bonuses I figure I can go for merc treads. Higher speed shoes are generally just for roaming, ya?
madanthony Wrote:alistar stuff

If you are just learning ali, id stick to laning, which it sounds like you already are planning, so either cd boots or merc. Id personally pick cd in most games, your ult cancels cc on you and if the other team wants to waste a couple cc's on you instead of your carry, that isnt too bad. If you are opening philo stone, i like getting regrowth pendant first and a health pot. Im 99% certain that red pots are more effective than getting more blue pots so you can use your heal more.(other than healing your teammate) I agree with shurelya over soul shroud. Ive never build either, but that move speed will be really good and if you are getting cd boots and frozen heart, more cdr from soul shroud is a waste.
I'd say if you're doing Ali, you should still get an early sheen if at all possible. It makes Alistar a threat early game, instead of just a CC twice and ignore champ.

Anyway, just had an annoying loss. We were against Shen, Karthus, Fiddlesticks, Malzahar, and Ryze. Now, against that team, you should straight up rush QSS and BV asap. Yes get a damage or other core item first, but you really need the mr and negation from those two items asap so you can beat them bloody when you fight them. So the two people I queued with do listen to me. One was WW and got a BV, which isn't perfect against such a team, but at least he got that much. The other, Maokai, went QSS, then was getting BV, which is a better option, but he went RoA and Merc Treads before that. Now both are good choices, but against that team, those items are little lower on priority than a BV and QSS. Merc Treads after that is great, but it's better to negate as much CC before you start lowering durations. I went Ryze, and had both items and was doing pretty well when I had the proper support. Our MF and Fiddle were the main problem. We stole a baron and otherwise were beating them pretty well, until MF went way far bot, and WW went way far top, with their entire team pushing up on our turret. So WW starts running back, MF does the same. Fiddle waits in the jungle to ult in. I dunno who initiated, but they didn't time it right. Their team was still too far from Fiddle for his ult to him them, and MF wasn't quite there yet. And neither Fiddle, nor MF had any MR btw. <.< So yeah, I tried to salvage our tank, but got focused down, and then he got killed by Malz's dot. Should have just let them die and tried to defend on my own I guess. Just so damn frustrating when I knew exactly what we needed to do to beat them, and yet we couldn't manage it because of other people.

TLDR: No one listens to the guy saying in the beginning, hey, their team is all cleansable cc and ap, buy QSS and banshee's ASAP.

T_T, long game. my team was leading at first, with pantheon and sion taking the first blood, then me and brand took the second kill. pantheon and sion took the third, but sivir was being a peach not listening to what to get. why? their team was full dps and doesnt want to get manamune, instead, she got chalice of harmony. asked her to get hextech, she doesnt want to and got bloodthirster instead. then things went into havoc. pantheon and sivir tried to backdoor but failed. they took the top inhib thrice, but we can't push cause they had a feeded jax, ww, and tristana. we nearly won, though. good game nevertheless. i like how im the only two person with positive kills with ap teemo, that pantheon was ksing me anyway.
Been playing jungle Amumu the past few games.

While it is really fun, sometimes it gets really frustrating when things don't go the way you wanted to be. Like bad ganks, bad attempts to steal enemy buffs, etc. Sometimes the jungling job is hard too; you're constantly worried about getting instagibbed out of the blue while you're doing your stuff. you have to know where to place the wards to maximize its effectiveness. And you have to decide when to stage the gank and maximize its effectinvess.

And especially when you're going against an enemy jungler. It gets real tough if you're going against a dedicated, natural jungler (Warwick, Nunu). Those champs could easily outperform me if they play really well. I'm simply just a tank.

But of course, I had some funny stuff happen to me while jungling. One time, I killed a Nocturne that was trying to steal my team's Wraith camp (dunno why, but killing him was epic fail for him). And of course, I have killed junglers who has tried to steal my buffs, lol.
Just had my first loss on amumu. Got dragged into this game by a friend who wanted a person to have a room of 5. 2 of the people were pretty low leveled so i expected an easier game, of course they had a Vlad and a Yi that got totally fed and vaporised us all.

I would initiate only to get killed in nano seconds basically. 0/10 amumu qq.

When I play with lower (very low) I avoid tanking since the other team will be higher level than my friends and carrying will be harder for them.
Just did my first normal with Eve, didnt go too well but i did fine in my opinion 4/5/9

I ganked first blood which was fun, ganked a couple more times, then the enemy team just started buying oracles and roaming as 1 big group. Eve has no place for teamfights other than clean up when people are low or incorrectly positioned, so it was 4v5 fights, and we didnt really have any good stuff. We had a Veigar that was one of those people that locks in and requests a tank, who was uber squishy and all our damage. We had no AD and our tank was Nasus, so in the end we just lost because i had nothing to provide other than backdooring and we had no damage..

Oh but they were scared as hell. 3 oracles, 4 pink wards in lanes, and pink wards in mid when they pushed mid as a 5 lol.
