Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 General

Phoenix sucks balls. Well, she's good but she dies in one combo by any competent player. Unless you're running godmode hacks she's only good for her dark phoenix 1v3 sweeps with level 3 x-factor.

Like I said lol, she dies in literally one combo. She can put out some good damage even if she's just jean grey but she dies too fast to be viable without dark phoenix form.

Learning doctor doom. There's a tourney at my school on friday. I don't mean to brag but I'm pretty sure I'll win. I've been to several brawl tourneys at my school and only one of my friends is better than me so I got 1st and 2nd each time. I doubt there'll be anyone thats good at marvel since it's basically harder than brawl.

And yes I'm a 360 player

On a somewhat relevant note, my friend said he can get me a job at the pizza hut he works at, which is conveniently near the house I'll be moving to in a few weeks. Definitely buying a madcatz stick with my first paycheck.

There's a tournament at my school this Friday too. They're also running SSFIV and Blazblue, so between myself, and two of my friends, we're planning on sweeping all 3 tournaments. We're also going to hype the pomegranate out of everything and act really obnoxious, so it should be fun, even if the tournament is poorly run.

It's a pretty alright game. It has a lot of potential more than anything else. The first two have had some balance issues, but the third one (Continuum Shift 2, which should come as a balance patch for Continuum Shift 1) is looking really promising. It's fun, and it's been the main game I've played since I started playing fighters. I like it much more than Marvel, except most of my friends have moved to Marvel or Arcana Heart 3 (which Arcana Heart is a beast game that everyone with a PS3 should pick up next week when it's out on PSN).

Won the tourney at my school. Lost round 3. First and second rounds were easy, though round 2 I accidentally randomed two characters so I had to make sure I did my best with wesker. I barely won that one. Round 3 I lost.... the guy was spamming in the corners with arthur and hidden missile assists with doom. I have minimal experience vs arthur so it was tough for me :\

Round 4 I 3-0'd. Fairly easy game. The guy seemed pissed after losing. The final round was me and the guy from round 3 again. I could read him pretty well this time, but I switched from Wesker/Spidey/Doom to Wesker/Spidey/ Mags. Mags ended up winning me the game, but wesker was still alive if he was needed.

Tourney was very poorly run. It was double elimination but it wasn't best out of 3/5. It was just one game each time...

There was also a SSBB and Black ops tourney going on at the same time. My friend that beat me in brawl last year won again, and a close friend of mine won the 2v2 blops tourney with a guy from my chem class. He was pretty bad... I honestly think I would have done better.

EDIT: oh and the guy from round 3 and 5 used some pretty dumb settings..... he set the time to infinite (which doesnt bother me really since no one was using phoenix) and the damage was set to lowest, so even if I caught him in what would normally be a 100% combo it wouldn't do near as much as I'd like... that was also a major reason that I lost round 3.

His reasoning for his settings are apparently that he'd feel like a d'ouche ending the game so fast on medium damage.... I just thought to my self.... wow just stfu you're not even good. Your scrubby settings save your scrubby arthur and that's it.

Once I got past arthur, it was really easy. His cap and doom were really bad and he got caught in most of my combos.

It was run by the people who normally do Smash tournaments, which they apparently have "moderators" for to watch matches and report the outcomes, which I've never had happen before. Most of the moderators were just annoying. Got scrubbed out by a friend in Blazblue so I think I finished like top 6 or something, got 3rd in SSFIV, only being beat by two of my friends (there was almost no one else there who could play the game at all competently), and I have no idea where I placed in Marvel, but I think I got like 4 wins in a game I don't play.

It just sucked that afterwards, we all went to where we normally play games Friday night on campus (which is in a class building) and all the rooms were filled. Also, no one from off campus who didn't go to the tournament showed up, so our weekly gathering was kind of small. A friend and I just started playing shmups on his laptop instead of playing fighting games since the only two setups we had had Marvel and SSFIV on them. We also didn't have many viewers for our weekly stream, so we shut it off really early.

I spam a slightly less completx version of combo 6 as mags as my bnb. Need to learn combo 8. Never spent that much time playing him.

MvC3 is ass offline. Even more ass offline when you have the event active where you can only do damage in arcade mode with team aerial combos. Practice mode with Hard/Very Hard is boring as hell, and I don't get to unlock any artwork/3 slideshow endings.
