Half the wives died, including the news anchor, which was a permanent change. As well as the chicken dieing.

The episode from the OP references SEVERAL points made in previous episodes that you would not know if not caught up. 1) Quagmire hates brian. 2) Sheryl is for quagmire "the one who got away" 3) Gillian 4) Other plot twists that i forgot about since watching the episode. So yeah.

I watched the episode the other day, and I got that Quagmire hated Brian, Sheryl was the one that got away, Gilian like-wise for Brian.

Just like it isn't necessary to fully understand a joke to think it's funny. It just won't be AS funny.

I had to play it twice. lol'd so hard. Specially since i've found Brian annoying too, somewhere along the line they just kinda turned him into the dog version of Lisa Simpson and its annoyed me for ages. I need to watch again, i fell behind when i stopped watching TV. (lol too lazy to get a converter box/new TV)

Quagmire and Brian have never gotten along. The episode of the clip above was from a while ago, wasn't it? (can't remember exactly)
I just keep up with when they release new episodes on netflix.
