Those merchants who spam B>Scrolls, practical to sell to?
#1
I've always seen them around for years, but I've never believed they would ever make money consistently, they offer so low and stick to it. I always imagined that the only buyers they ever got was new players who didn't know the value of anything. And there's only so many of them.

but now, playing MS again, I have to wonder: Is there ever a condition/situation when a knowledgable player would actually agree to sell low to these stingy merchants?

People without access to a store permit have a really hard time selling anything, they either go to basil or to ch1 fm entrance to spam. When there is already someone buying, they could go and sell it to them.

They're cheaper in FM entrance because you don't need a store permit. When buying/selling stuff you always have to keep track of your costs i.e. permit/hired store, scissors, potential scrolls, amount of time taken to buy/sell, etc.

The discussion was about buyers, not sellers, but I disagree with your evaluation of sellers.

I'd argue that most sellers, even those with permits, don't have the insight to deal figure in overhead.
It all really comes down to that last bit: time.

If someone is selling in the FM entrance, they know that there's little chance that they'll make the sale and simultaneously acknowledge that they have to be present to do so. Shop-owners, however, feel less pressure because they can set a price, accept bids, and adjust the price to make the sale.

They're such a massive ripoff that I don't think it's worth selling to them ever. They only offer 10%~ of the market value, and you can easily get 25-50% just by cheap selling in the entrance.

Really, the MS meso market is so terrible that I avoid it almost entirely. I sell within my guild and BL (who will give me 90% of what I'd get in a store, no problem, and being fair, I buy from them at about the same discount), or I just stash stuff on my mules until I need it.

I've never really done the merchant thing at a bulk quantity where buying a mushroom shop would be worth it, most of the time the 1.8k nx for a regular shop isn't worth it, and the entrance sucks. Just in general, I don't like the way it's set up for people who only occasionally buy/sell.

They're generally horrible and will try as hard as humanly possible to rip you off.

i use them to figure market prices, i go to them, put a scroll, ask for an offer, and then multiply whatever thay offer for 5 or so and sell it for that, it's how bad they are

Thanks for all the information so far guys.

Back in the past i avoided FM like the plague (kinda like how Stereo managed) and only got gear from MTS. my damage wasn't low compared to the average player then, but now with potential about my lacking damage is really apparent and am forced to look into making meso with minimal NX and worse yet, minimal time compared to my older days. (2-3 hours a day goes by pretty darn quick)

but yeah, im one of the ones without a shop permit and even if i did, wouldn't have much to sell.

Currently i'm comparing badge farming on this 2x event to trying to farm and sell stuff in FM without a permit. Roughly i can make 8-10m or so an hour farming badges, not including bow and knuckle scroll sales.

but yeah, having a difficult time finding non-merchants to sell what scrolls and decent drops i do find right now, and i've amassed quite a bit. Aside from that... it sounds like merchanting isn't worth it without a shop permit either, am i right?

I'm trying to make money on Windia, if anyone needs to know.

Yes, merchanting isn't really worth it without a permit; it's possible, but it's a pain.
I would suggest holding the bow/knuckle scrolls and MTSing them in bundles of ~10-20 until you have enough NX to buy a permit.

Zenith is a bit better in the merchanting department, in that most scrolls are priced at 50%-75% by merchanters in FM Entrance. If I'm in a hurry and I need money for something, I won't hesitate to sell to one. But if it's not a quick buy that I need then I will attempt to sell it myself at a better price.
