The development team is working on a fix to address the item duplication exploit. The hot question is whether we will rollback servers or not. To that end, we need more time to determine the situation versus potential impact of such an action, and will provide a message about that when we can.

Meanwhile, MTS is up, so the dupers can safely hide their ill-gotten items away from any rollback. GG Nexon.

If there is going to be a rollback we better get something for it this time besides a 2hour 2x event.

I'd rather get no compensation and not have Nexon profit on their failure. Just baning the caught dupers is compensation enough.

No it hasn't. Hackers a long time ago would go great lengths to hide their hacking, because back then GMs were more active in-game and more bans of actual hackers were made. Nowadays almost every ban is of bots that spam meso selling sites, while hackers now almost go out of their way to show off their hacked items and equips.

As much as I fear what they would do, I almost want a rollback just so I could see how they would handle a rollback during the ring event. I think the lulz ensued by that would be worth it.

No it wasn't. Hackers used to go through great lengths to hide what they did. That meant keeping to themselves and hacking in remote locations where no legit would ever go.

Yeah, hackers would hide in far away maps from players, run away when getting seen, etc. Now they all smega their "achievements", and DC hack people if someone has objections.

It's irrelevent but yes.

Although reading this I feel like you think I have a begrudgery of this event. It's not it at all to be honest. I hold no begrudery against nexon compensating me nor expect it. I would love it if there was justice served, which I'm in the process of, but it's unrealistic to expect anything back. What kills me about this game, whether I got hacked or not, by something out of my control, is that it's a great game, for casual gamers, but is completely corrupt and led by as such.

The company thinks of us as children, and treat us as if the entire fanbase is 13 year olds with no common sense. It's not really fair and they have the power to resolve things for individual players if they simply gave the benefit of the doubt rather than everyone trying to extort them. Until these packet editors/dc hacks and what have you get resolved, it doesn't matter how much you have, it's limited by kids who justify their actions that people don't exist on the internet.

WrongDeal also bought the mask from the guy who hacked you for 30b so they would have to give something back to wrongdeal too and i doubt they would put so much effort into it.

No. Wrongdeal doesn't even have half of that. He offered 11b in duped items, he deserves no compensation as his investments shouldn't exist. He's also trying to hold it against me as leverage too force me to trade for it, which is a form of extortion and imo should be bannable in itself. None the less, his confidence will be his undoing.

Meh.... Hackers are gonna hack. It's a pain in the ass when they DC ya, but I wouldn't say that this (the most recent in a long line of hacks) is the "Final stake in the heart" of the game.

So what if some guy is gettin 99 atk off his pet equip? Does that take anything away from me and my guildies when we legit beat Zakum?
Not really.

People hate hackers because they put 10% of the effort that a legit puts in the game, and reaps about 1000% of the rewards.
But it all boils down to this one mindset:

"Oh my god someone has more damage than me.... and they didn't even try as hard".

Well there's a corollary to this concept in everyday life.... Some people are born to millionaire parents, and they will through out their entire lives having it easier than most of us, life ain't fair, maple ain't fair, the rich will always do better, and so will the criminals that are smart enough not to get caught.

When you let the above fact get you "down in the dumps", over maple OR life..... That's you buddy. That's you LETTING this stuff get to you.

People love to hate on some Nexon (so do I), but now that we know that they are incapable or unwilling to fix the stuff wrong with the game, well now... The burden rests on US....

If nexon wont fix this stuff, then I guess we should all just become white-hat hackers, and launch a grassroots campaign to try to fix the game ourselves.

Anything other than that is just nerd-rage on a messageboard.

RAAGE! No! Stop dismantling the very core of my being! Hackerz are teh evilz! Maple is collapsing! HOW WILL WE SURVIVE?

On the completely rational hand, these are hardly the most substantial hacks we have ever seen. :[ I don't understand how this means Maple has finally hit the shitter when in the past we have had exploits that endangered accounts (I think there was a compromise issue at one point with the website), mass duping... Now, the economy may be in the shitter, but is that really anything new?

I do think NEXON has taken on a few too many games recently (with too little staff) as I do remember when we would see the "SO-AND-SO has been banned" notices from GMs periodically during the day. That was nice; perhaps not totally effective, but it at least reassured the players. Wish they would bring that kind of habit back.

The biggest problem with these exploits isn't how damaging they are. The biggest problems with these exploits is that, knowing Nexon America, they will remain in the game for weeks to months to probably even years. And the more exploits that exist that remain unfixed, the less incentive there is to play the game as a legit, which eventually leads to one of two things: going the hacker route or going the quitter route. Furthermore, these exploits mentioned in this thread are only the recent exploits. There's hundreds more out there that aren't getting fixed at all and even some that hurt Nexon's overall income.

What Nexon needs to do is to delay Chaos, delay any new content updates, halt any work on adding new stuff to Maple period. Then, focus on putting forth series of patches to fix all the crap that's making the game such a depressing ordeal for legits. Next, hire more GM's to stand-by per server and start banhammering away. And finally, review over all the thousands of tickets we've sent to them regarding the same hackers damaging everybody's accounts and DO something about it.

I kind of feel like if any of this was truly detrimental to Nexon's income, they would have already attempted a fix. After all, they are a company first and foremost and generating revenue is their main focus. I also still firmly believe we are nowhere near that "breaking point" where majority of the player base would choose to quit over staying, due to the hacking community. When the game becomes inaccessible for days, when cash shop items vanish after purchase, when hackers begin finding exploits that will expose people's personal information or account information...Yeah, people may quit then. But I have found that while some people are concerned about the economy, majority of the people I play with don't really care about the latest few hacks--okay, so wild hunters level fast. Hackers have always found a way to speed their characters up. It's unfair, but it's not affecting you in any way. So they can see the potential. Who buys a hidden potential item in the market anyway? Always go for the magnified 3 liners!

Talking about what Nexon should do has been done to death, here and other places, ever since Nexon took over Wizet's job, and while it sounds good and we can shake our heads and all agree that it would be fantastic if Nexon would step up to the plate, history has proven that they are a pretty unreliable company in that aspect. The best thing we can do is note the exploits, alert Nexon of their occurances, hope Nexon actually pays attention for once, and go on with our lives. But ULTIMATELY, it is their choice how they want to run their company. If they choose to run it into the ground, well...sad for the players, but that's their choice.

Nexon hasn't done anything to patch the exploits that have been detrimental to their income. For one, there's an exploit out there that lets people reset the 24 hour clock on a Mushie before it disappears. Hackers would buy 1 day mushies and use them infinitely until the next server check. This exploit's been going on for a while now. To make another matter worse, there's an exploit out there that lets one Mushie be used for all the characters on the same account and in different spots. There's even more that I don't know of, but this is only the start. None of these have been patched.

The WH leveling fast, some of the other exploits mentioned in this thread, and such are the least of problems. However, when hackers are able to d/c hack players (yes, I consider this an exploit, too) 24/7, what makes you think that doesn't hinder Nexon's income and also bring players closer to a breaking point? Players who get d/c hacked 24/7 would rather not play the game, rather not spend money on the game, and would essentially do one of the two things I've mentioned: quit or start hacking. Some of the time, they quit, but unlike what you said, the majority of them start hacking. To counter d/c hacking, players need hacks themselves to block the d/c hacking packets. While this is "okay" if players only use hacks for those reasons, you can probably guess where it'd lead.
