Sorry to burst your bubble, but this doesn't work.
1. Your skin produces oil.
2. Your skin produces less oil when there is oil buildup.
3. Your skin will continue to produce oil until it reaches some final buildup amount.
4. Saturating your skin with oil will not make your body respond in a way that will auto-eliminate the oil buildup.
5. If you do manage to wash off all the oil with water and no soap, your body will produce oil just as rapidly as it did when you used soap.
There's absolutely no benefit to not use some shampoo or at least soap. It takes longer to shower, and you don't have the benefit of the nice shampoo smell and the cleanliness feel. You're also more likely to house microorganisms in your hair, and the oil is likely to remain on your clothing and your pillow and whatever you put your head on, including your girlfriend's shoulder if you have one. When the hair starts falling off onto your floor, your room will smell like crap.
If you want to know what that smells like, you can do a self-experiment that isn't as disgusting as trying out this no-shampoo crap.
1. Don't shower for two or three days, or until your hair is oily.
2. Then get a haircut, or at least cut some of the hair off.
3. Save the hair in a plastic bag.
4. Add some water. (don't flood the bag, just enough mist to keep the bag moist)
5. Incubate the hair for a week in room temperature
6. Open the bag whenever you want to smell the final product.
Tell us what it smells like after you've tried it.

This wouldn't work out very well because there isn't enough volume for the air to travel in if the bag is zipped. Where as a human being has their entire surroundings.

Might try this in the summer. I won't judge it until I try it myself.
...Unlike some people here

i have done this for a while actually (don't ask) honestly, my hair/skin didn't feel oily at all, but you don't really feel "clean" you could say. not to mention, if you scrape your skin with your nails, you'll notice the acumulation of dirt on your skin, besides showering, you would really need to scrape the dirt from you one way or the other.

I'll actually go out and buy Burt's Bee's shampoo. It's 99.90% natural and see how my head feels afterward.
Shampoo bar!

Why wouldn't you shower properly? It's one thing to smell bad, but you just feel greasy as hell.

But how do you know you're smelling bad? I mean, not to the point where people keep trying to lock you up in a trash can, but about XL's case. I don't want to have to keep reading the motives behind everyone's actions.

There are a lot of subtle things people will do if you smell bad, like turning their head away often or even moving away. Placing their hand over their mouth/nose for long periods of time. Or sometimes people will even say something indirectly like "something smells bad."
But you shouldn't be letting it get to that point anyway. There's not one god damn excuse for not showering at least every other day but even that imo is pretty gross. Even a quick 5 minute shower WITH SOAP to wash away some of your grime is better than nothing. And no, you can't cover up your stink with artificial scents like air fresheners or colognes.

This part is untrue. Back when bathing was for poor people it was essentially a sign of status among the french aristocracy to be going long periods of time without bathing while still seeming "fresh".

I agree with Shidoshi 100% here.
Chemistry 101:
1.Water is polar; Oil is nonpolar.
2.Like dissolves like.
3. Water is unlike oil. -> Water will not dissolve the oil.

Yeah, God forbid you ruin your natural body oils, I bet the chicks love to smell those.

Lolwhat. It's not ancient Rome 500 B.C.E....What Sarah said is true. You can't throw lysol on your garbage and expect it to smell good.

Don't you sleep?! It's my day off and I woke up at 5 *cry*.
Dandruff...There are shampoos for that! It coincides with taking a bath.

I dunno if you're joking or not! I'll assume you are but still address it seriously and say WE DON'T LIVE IN THE PAST. What was okay then definitely doesn't work now. Besides, have you ever SMELLED axe and BO? Most perfumes when combined with body odors create a monster. And even if you manage to get away with not creating that monster, you're still facing the same problem where you smell too strong.

Keeping your natural body oils at their best is not more important than the rest of the world's right to breath fresh air when you're around.

I shower every day and have had dandruff exactly once. Use better shampoo.
