Notable PSN updates...
#1
Along with Xenogears, Square-Enix has put up 3 of its best PSOne classics on the PSN recently and I highly recommend checking them out if you haven't.

The first one is Vagrant Story, which is written by Matsuno (Final Fantasy Tactics, XII, Tactics Ogre) and is an incredibly original and fun dungeon crawler with a beautiful story. It is unofficially part of the 'Ivalice Alliance', taking place in the same world but with none of the faerie creatures that Final Fantasy features like Moogles. It has lots of dragons though.

The second one isn't actually out yet but it's coming soon, and that is Legend of Mana. One of my personal favourites; it features some of the most beautiful artwork in video game history. It's all static images but god they're beautiful. Also the music is amazing. Gameplay is fun but pretty button mashy. The story jumps all over the place based on what you do because it's very sandboxy.

The final one is Parasite Eve. Khoi, or anyone looking to purchase The 3rd Birthday, you'll definitely want to get this if you haven't already. Parasite Eve is an action-RPG. It featured revolutionary gameplay for its time and an extremely complex and story (derived from an old Japanese book, actually.)

All three of these games are awesome and totally worth the $5 - $10 the PSN is asking for them. I haven't checked prices yet but PSOne games never go over $10 before taxes. Get them!

The first PE is on PSN? Osnap, next payday I'm getting that for sure. Same with Legend of Mana.

Seconding Vagrant Story times a million. That game was amazing, and I Glitter'd as soon as I heard it was coming out on PSN. I remember playing through and thinking that it was a shame it didn't get anywhere near the attention that Final Fantasy 8 did at the time. It's definitely worth the $6, and I'll probably pick it up even though I still have my old copy for the PS1. (At one point in time I was seriously considering a Rood Inverse tattoo... yeah.)

Also, assless chaps and lace-up pants FTW. OMNOMNOMNOMnomnomnomonom.

Hmm, two less games to spend $50+ and a whole lot of time finding on. I really should catch up one of these days and purchase a PS3.

This is really great news for me. I've been meaning to play Parasite Eve, and this happened to be released at just the right time; and I'm really glad that they've finally released the Legend of Mana. Since you guys seemed to speak highly of Vagrant Story, I definitely see myself picking that up as well. Probably going to charge my PSN account to buy this and the BlazBlue DLC that I've been too lazy to buy yet.

>my face when I own all three of the actual real games.

Keep an eye out for Threads of Fate which should come out soonish. It was a pretty great game that got overshadowed by Legend of Mana and Chrono Corss.

They've also added Dissidia 012: Prologus for $2.99 which is an additional chapter to the upcoming Dissidia Duodecim (March 22nd!)

Holy crap, why are they releasing all of the good games in march? My wallet can't take that much of a beating!

Eh, I'll skip on Dissidia Duodecim. I don't think I'll be getting it, Dissidia was great, mind you. However, I feel as if the changes aren't critical enough for me to consider getting the sequel. They only added a couple characters and tinkered with some minor things anyways. Meh.

I however, am looking forward to The 3rd Birthday. Will surely be getting that soon. WHEN. IS. IT. COMING. OUT? THEY KEEP PUSHING BACK THE RELEASE DATE OR SOME SH`IT, AND IT'S MAKING ME FURIOUS. LAST I CHECKED, IT WAS THE END OF MARCH. SH`IT BETTER NOT CHANGE AGAIN, GODDAMN EYE-EMM MAD.

What are you talking about? It hasn't been pushed back even once.

I swore I thought it was supposed to be on the 22nd or 23rd or whatever, being the same release date as Duodecim. Maybe I'm wrong, but I swore it was something like that, then they decided to push it back til the end of March.

I loved LoM and it's about time the game came to the PSN. I know my friend will totally be excited for this as well.

You are absolutely, definitely, 100% wrong. It was always March 29th.

edit: just checked and both Vagrant Story and Parasite Eve are $5.99 each.
