The world was shocked by the massive earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan last week. All of us at Nexon America are dedicated to supporting the relief effort to help all those affected by this disaster.

Beginning today, Monday, March 14, through Sunday, March 20, 2011, Nexon will donate all proceeds from the sale ofthe following in-game items to theRed Cross' Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami relief effort:

All items savethose in the Cash Shop's GAME category

We sincerely hope that this effort and the efforts of others around the world will help the people of Japan recover from this disaster.

We encourage our players to learn more by visiting the Red Cross website.

Interesting...first time I've seen Nexon actually extend a helping hand in the charity department. :f6:

Now if they only remove this exception, I would gladly buy cubes for this effort. They make a shetload from cubes and other Game category CS items. Tongue

I'm conflicted because I know most NX goes to things in the game tab and this might inspire a lot of people to buy NX thinking it's going to a good cause and then waste it on cubes which doesn't do any good, and I'm sure Nexon thought of that before proposing this.

That said, kudos to them for trying to do something good, though I'd rather just see them take 5% of all proceeds from x date to y date and donate them red cross.

Sarah Wrote:To anyone who REALLY wants to donate to the Red Cross, I propose you just text 90999 to REDCROSS and leave out the middleman. If you want to buy NX, do it, but don't do it because you want to do something good. If you want to do something good, do it without getting something in return.

BUY ALL THE EXPENSIVE EXPIRING pomegranate THAT NO ONE WANTS TO BUY CAUSE THEY ALL SUCK BALLS.

Why not do the game section? That's where a bunch of their NX consumers go anyway...

... wow, I take back my last post, seeing as the NX I bought was spent on cubes.

:/

I won't be buying more NX for a while too, else I'd gladly get more for non-game purposes.

Well, at least the ones that stock up on SMegas get to make their contribution.

I'd rather send the money directly to the Red Cross than helping Nexon's "charity" funds raise in number.

It's not really there to make you donate through Nexon, it's for Nexon to pretty much take what profits they get from certain items sold and use that revenue to give directly to charity. This isn't meant to convince anyone to buy NX, but rather to show that Nexon is supporting and sending money to Japan.

That's the point. Tongue

I have a feeling if they would drop the "all proceeds except the game tab" part, and changed it to 10% or 15% of ALL proceeds, it would make a lot more money.

Just buy things outside of the game section for the next week, or just donate money to Japan through another source. I don't see how hard doing that is, just be happy that you're actually getting something in return when you're not even the person that actually needs the help.

I guess they thought it would be better PR to say "ALL PROCEEDS" and then in small print "except the Game section", than to say "1% of all proceeds" (my own made up number, I've no idea how much is spent outside of the Game section, but considering Cubes and Gach tickets, the only things bought in bulk, are there... yeah.)

Don't get me wrong, them giving anything is nice. I'm not going to say "if they don't give at least 10% they are heartless money-grubbers" or w/e. Lots of people and organizations give nothing.

Also remember "all profits" doesn't necessarily mean all the money people spend on those items; How much of the money do you think is going to be chalked up to pay for things they need and simply claim what's leftover was the profit portion?

pineapple, if you guys want to actually donate then do it, stop trying to be so picky about what counts as going toward the donate. So what if it's an item you don't want, buy it anyway just to donate some money, or just donate directly to a charity yourself like Sarah is saying.

''Yeah, I'd be more willing to donate some money if they offered something I actually like in return'' is basically what I'm hearing. pineapple.

The only thing not in the game section that could be generating some money would be AP resets.

Not true, i'm still trying to figure out whether or not the experience coupons count towards this since they're only in the event section and not in the game section. If it does count then yay I get to donate to Japan and help people level moreso at the same time, otherwise i'll just buy shops or pet stuff or something.

@Ghost That's exactly what's bothering me about some of these responses, it's just one week of not buying cubes and other things in the game section. ONE WEEK.

You say that as if anyone can check up on them.
"Yeah, I bought a Water of Life this week, show me that you gave $2.4 in my name to the Japan relief fund. Wait, what's this? You only gave $2!"
"uh, well, you see, we said profits, and the 40 cents go toward the salary of the guy who initially drew that item, so it's expenses that can be deducted yadda yadda"

Bottom line, they can do whatever they please, and donate however much they want, regardless of what people do or don't buy. (Black Friday Milestones, anyone?)
If you want to donate, do it directly through some reputable agency such as the Red Cross.
