due to recent autoban issues because of corrupted wz files, i decided to post my wz files' md5sum hashes and sizes in bytes, which are the correct ones (from a clean v.60 install), as i couldnt find a topic like that while searching the forum. if there is already a topic , or this belongs to another forum, do what needs to be done.
md5sum hashes can be checked using winMd5Sum (google it) or any other similar md5sum hash calculator.
(side note, is there a difference between md5 and md5sum?)

TBH, if the hash has been changed the program shouldn't even be executing correctly, and this applies for just about everything.
Btw, MD5Sum is a program that verifies MD5 hashes.
EDIT: Wasn't aware they could be hashed o.O?

Well, good thing to know that you're not a hacker, then.
Every single file in existence can have an MD5 sum calculated on it.

uhh, when hackers edit wz files, their hashes change, and maplestory still executes correctly.
and everything can be hashed.

In theory, this should all be done when the game is run or something so you can't hack and modify it. If the hashes don't match to what the server says it should be, give an error.
Good idea for a thread though.

Just another thing to bypass... anything the client sends to the server can't be trusted in the first place, people would just hack their client to send the correct hashes regardless what files they were using.
If it weren't for the fact that they actually distributed a bad map.wz, I'd say the current server side autoban detection of changed maps was fine >_>

Problems with computer technology is that nearly anything can be h4xed if you could get access by a physical medium.
This list however is meant to prevent autobans due to user ignorance. I think the concept of detecting corrupt .wz files should really be a warning sign on Nexon's behalf that they're passing out corrupt game data, and it shouldn't be so much be an instant autoban.

QFT
nexon should add a validation check on the wz files. it will not just help preventing false autobans but will also block hackers more efficiently since they will need to actually do more then just edit the files.

Out of curiosity, could some of these hashes have anything to do with APQ?
Because for some reason, this affects my Night Lord (and not my DK, Cleric, OR Bishop) at APQ.. Whenever I'm done in stage 1, and I get to stage 2, sometimes, I INSTANTLY disconnect, and MS shuts down, and there isn't an error message at the end. At other times, after the running-stage, same thing happens.
Then once after the Geist Balrog stage, I got to bonus for about a SPLIT second, then I am at the "Exit", w-t-f??!

this seems more like a problem with maplestory.exe... but check if your wz files hashes are ok, just in case. my maplestory.exe is 3,104,816 bytes and its hash is af4000ad9392ed8f450e9c50f49dcb2a
also, you can try downloading ms again o,o

The size is right, and I already tried re-downloading, it doesn't fix the disconnects. So this may be a server-sided problem, yet it only happens to my NL and none of my other characters at APQ, it's rather frustrating..
