Im between Gen 2 and Gen 4 don't remember exactly. Only thing i knew its that there was no ludi yet and i think orbis-elnath was just freshly out of the oven.

my quest book dont even have the maple island tab lol, i will check it when im home, but i think my first quest i complete 09/09/2005, dam i remember npcs didnt have any book over its head, so you had to click each NPC to actually find a quest

1st gen. I remember never being told what was in patches on the site. It would just say "Patch Tomorrow...get off". Doing Mayas for the bamboo hat, hunting Green Mushies in the forest of wisdom for hours, slime tree.

My Bowmaster's first quest was completed in 19th of May 2006, but I had a failwarrior like a month or two before that.
I don't really remember much from the game back then. I only played with my wifey back then and didn't learn about skill builds and maple celebs until I started to use forums like a year after. I do remember ther "Behold Zakum" wallpaper on the front page

Guess I'm Gen 3, I started August 2005. I remember i was so obsessed with getting that Nimble Gaurd shield thingy for my Bandit (which had 12 INT, because i thought I would be "Smarter" ), I miss those days though.

I'm part of gen 3 but in windia gens were started by who killed what first. If you were apart of hefferheffer zak group your apart of 1st gen. 2nd gen was named Conspiracy and changed to another name or something. Might be getting my facts mixed up

Quest log dates are a gen 3 thing, any quests completed before that will show up in early 2006 anyway.

And a lot of gen 1 don't have maple island quests at all, cause they were updated fairly early but not on release of Maple.

With regard to the massive 2 year Gen 4, I think there should be divisions for the release of Ludibrium and Aqua Road, and maybe the Zipangu expansion. They're pretty insignificant now, but when they were first released, they massively shook up the levelling pace for higher levels. The levelling game changed a lot from the release of third job to when Himes came out. Ludibrium meant going from getting about 5%/hr at mid-70s to over twice that. And when Gobies came out, it held the spotlight as the premier 3rd job levelling spot for a very long time.

Defining a generation isn't just about major content patches, either. Zakum's initial release didn't make much of an impact for most players, especially new players. More significant is when people started bombing it and wealthy non-running players could actually afford to buy helms, or when APQ came out and Zhelms were no longer a status symbol because anyone with 80m or so could buy one.

I started shortly after Broa opened but before the third job, although I don't remember the exact date. Gen II for me, then.

All i know is i was active in 4th gen according to you probly joined in 3rd gen i remember when i got my first level 30 it was a sin and only got to level 52 then got whacked to fund a dit thats still around hell i never knew any skill build till after my 2nd dit got to level 30?
