I don't mean that this isn't bad, damage speaks for itself. What I mean is that if 8.9 magnitude would hit the Tokyo center and near the ground, there would be a extinction that no1 could imagine.
Good part of these news is that Japan has prepared to this stuff and buildings wont collapse that easily.

Meta has been hacked by some idiot jackass troll?

It's called strict rules, technology and culture. Ironically, just yesterday I was reading about how great Japan earthquake measures are, all their buildings follow strict anti-quake rules, they have a system that let's them predict earthquakes 2 or 3 minutes before they come, and they do a massive simulation every year where all japan applies the "what to do".
As it's been said before around the news, it's nice that it hit Japan because they probably have the best technology and stuff to survive one, if this had hit somewhere else, deaths and damage could be anywhere from twice to 1000 times or more.

How the country hasn't lost half of its citizens is beyond me. Someone up there must like Japan. A lot.
Japan know's what to do, they've got their sh'it in gear for emergencies and disasters, thankfully.

I saw it on the news the morning and followed the updates at work. For such a large earthquake it did relatively little damage compared to the one in Christchurh.
But that tsunami was something else, Ive never seen anything like it, the speed everything was just swept away. It was like some sort of creature devouring the land, with all the buildings still on fire floating on the top. I wonder how many people will have died, with whole trains and boats full of people missing.
Its lucky that they the tsunami calmed down and didnt cause much damage anywhere else.
I just hope they can get that nuclear reactor under control, thats all they need with everything else thats happened already.

Sayaka is scared, too. She said she can't even get through to her grandmother in Yokohama due to destroyed phone lines.
Does she know about this?

Not that I think it'd help much though, not everyone is reporting they're safe and such, so it may just feed into her worries if she sees there's no posts saying they're fine.

Your second video is borked.
The whirlpool looks cool, despite the scenario. I've never actually seen one of those in real life.

While they may have had many measures in place to deal with the earthquakes, the tsunami was still very devastating from what I've seen. Seeing as I owe a great deal of gratitude to the nation for putting out the media I very much enjoy, and I do not feel that I have as of yet made up for my pirating days; I will be donating what I've saved up for a 3DS so far to the relief efforts once a verifiable collection group has been established.

The first thing I thought of when I saw this thread was Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, except almost ten times worse.
This is terrible, but it's a good thing that Japan has prepared for this.

Yeah, idk why though its borked. Basically its just water washing onto an airport, and rising to like 7 feet within the minute of the video.

More after-quakes keep happening.
ニュース速報: 3月12日 07時36分ごろ地震がありました。[震度] 3 茨城県南部など
An earthquake at a 3 (Japanese earthquake scale) magnitude happened at 7:36am, which was about 29 minutes ago. :|
I have no idea what that is on the richter scale. I'm 100% positive it's much higher than a 3 on the richter scale.

8.9...that's helluva crazy. Insane.
That nuclear power plant worries me more, though.

As far as I know, whatever the news are reporting aren't always highly accurate. They're not even experiencing an aftershock, it hasn't really stopped.. I have a friend over here in the States that happens to have a lover over in Japan, and she was crying earlier because she couldn't get in contact with her boyfriend by e-mail. She said the last time they were in contact was about 7 hours ago, and she just left Japan in less than a month or so ago. So she feels really bad about everything.
I don't have any friends over in Japan, so I can't really try to even relate to that.

You can just look at http://jp.msn.com and realize that. They're having earthquakes every couple of minutes, it seems. Small ones, but they're still big enough to be reported.
If you can't tell, they're the big notices at the top that are just like the string of text I posted before in Japanese.
For those who are curious of the Japanese earthquake magnitude scale : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_Meteo...sity_scale

I got news that my friend in Japan is alright, also my cousin's trip was scheduled to land in Japan right near the time of the earthquake but luckily there was an airplane delay (one of the rare times crappy air transportation service is good? definitely.) so she avoided it. Holy fuc'k though, this is insane.
