Dear Metroid Prime,

Why must thou scare the hell out of me so much?

I don't know why you scare me, but going into the Phazon Mines where the Space Pirates and Metroids and other stuff are gives me this overwhelming sense of danger.


From what I remember, Metroid Prime 2 : Echoes is much worse, so I'm already regretting planning on playing it.


Why am I scared of this game? Please tell me I'm not the only one that feels this way.

I'm kinda torn between Prime 1 and 2. Corruption pales in comparison but it has it's moments. Though, Echoes has some frustrating moments too. Prime just nailed the atmosphere a Metroid game is supposed to have. So, I'll just say I like 'em all. Best trilogy ever.

The thing is, I don't remember feeling this way the first time I beat it almost 10 years ago.

I only remember parts of Echoes -- like the Dark Aether maps where you had to shoot the orb things with a Power Beam and make the things grow to heal you. I also remember running into Dark Samus. O_o I think I got owned by it a few times. Knowing me, that's probably accurate.

I don't even think I remember ANYTHING about Corruption. I didn't even know I had it until I discovered it in my collection of games about a year ago. I popped it in and saw a saved file. I "wtp'd" and then continued to be confused. So, I turned it off and tried to think when the hell did I get it and when did I play it? I didn't come up with an answer. Oh, well.

Speaking of the Metroid Prime games, how good is Metroid Prime Hunters? I have it for the DS, but I've hardly touched it. I don't really remember a thing about it besides the horrible graphics, the crippling hand pain and playing online against fags with whom I've never met.

QFT, except I'm not as big of an Echoes fanboy as all of you. Prime 1 was definitely the best of the three in everything except control, which goes to Prime 3 - sorry, but try playing Prime 1 or 2 after beating Corruption and you'll be like "y u no move power beam quik and fluidly."

But yeah, seriously @ Prime 1. The story was phenomenal, the graphics and world unbelievably diverse and fantastic, and don't even get me started on the weaponry - UGH Plasma Beam is still probably my favorite beam of all Metroid games to this day. Yet even in the same game was the WAVEBUSTER. Using that lovely on Metroid Prime 1 is so fun.

I was an MPH fanboy back in the day it first came out; it was actually through online MPH guilds/communities I discovered, and ultimately switched over to, MapleStory.

I loved the game and still do, except for how the online community has evolved and playing the game online isn't as much fun anymore, unless you know who you're playing against. The game doesn't honestly have much beyond the online, as the single player mode is fun, with cool weapons from all the hunters, but relatively short, with an okay plot at best, and graphics that were good back when the DS first came out.

But of all the games I've played in my long gaming career, I'd say MPH is definitely one of the top three technically challenging games, ESPECIALLY online. I used to play against a lot of the old pros from the Nintendo and GameFAQs boards, and damn were some of them good. I had one friend with an online name of kjhovey who played Trace, and dear god....good luck trying to stand up out of alt in biped form at any time during the match. I swear the second you left alt he would ohko headshot kill you, no matter where you were in the map. He was an awesome guy, too, so it was fun when I got the opportunity to play with him in a 2 v 2. One of my fondest online match memories is one with him and two other pros where we were all playing Trace at this circular map with a central location and a outer ring, and the entire match consisted of all of us running around as Trace alts until the moment we saw an opponent, when we would, all in a split second, jump into biped, double tap the Imperialist, aim, and shoot, praying for a headshot. This would take place as we literally passed on another in the outer ring, and in most cases someone would die - it was like modern, fast-paced jousting.

I was a Noxus player at first, though, and have since moved towards Trace since the Imperialist is so kick ass. But Noxus was discovered early on to have an awesome glitch power that allows freezing at a distance with charged Judicator shots, and so the freeze + Imperialist headshot combo was something I perfected by the time I started playing MapleStory.

All in all, the game is super fun, technically challenging beyond belief, fast paced, and really scary as a first person shooter when playing matches against people who are actually good. You can't hide like people do in other FPS games, so if the idea of constantly running, trying to stay alive while trying to kill everyone else before everyone else kills everyone else allures you, then you'd enjoy this game. But fair warning to random online matches - a lot of people hack the hell out of the game or do the old router restart when they're losing that it can quite honestly be the most frustrating experience ever.

Whoo! I beat Metroid Prime. On my first run-through, the damn Fission Metroids lowered my HP by a considerable amount, because I actually stood and tried to fight -- bad move, I guess. Then, Metroid Prime stomped all over me. I got it to the final body, though.

My second try ended up with me winning with 4 energy tanks left. lol

The scan system kind of shocked me at first, too. I forgot that it's not the same as MP1.

i need to play these again, they where so awesome, and the final suit of echoes is one of my favorites to this day. i agree with the whole MPH thing, i have always been a sniper though, so when i play the game, it's trace time, been a while though.

i prefer MP1, but 2 has it's amazing moments, including the last bossfight, corruption is kinda eeh, but is also awesome (also, shifting into maximum overpower for the last fight)

I was down to 1 Energy Tank left though and I almost died and probably would have if I weren't lucky enough for it to have broken two of the pillars. >_>


I remember the very first time I went through the game, I only had two Energy Tanks and I fought the Boost Ball Guardian about a hundred times and threw so many fits of rage before I finally downed it.
