What are your personal thoughts on polygyny or polyandry?

I don't really care about it, though I personally can't imagine having more than a wife since I can't love more than one person.

I just don't think humans are made for such a thing. Too much emotional distress.

Eh.
It takes a village to raise a child, they say.

Why would any man want more estrogen around?? Women are crazy, but that makes those kinds of men even crazier. It honestly makes me want to vomit. Nothing more than brainwashing IMO.

It's nasty a man with more than one wife all living in one house with there family. He's having sex most likely unprotected since there married with his multiple wives daily or weekly. I can't imagine the person I'm in love with and married to having sex with another person. Majority of the children probably get neglected from there father cause he has a dozen other kids to raise plus balance a full time job. What if the women in the polygamy wanted more than one husband? I bet that wouldn't fly to well with him. Most of the women I've seen in polygamy families are unattractive. (No offense).

If the people involved are ok with it, I'm ok with it.

There's no denying that men are supposed to get as many women as they can pregnant, evolution-wise.

Wrong, or at least to some extent.
To us and our society it's wrong because of what we learned in the bible/other religions books/rules. There's nothing that would stop us from polygamy other than moral doubts. However, in some 3rd world countries that have strong religious influences there are legal ways to avoid the prohibitions and punishments that were set to polygamy.
Why did I say wrong? Because it's not really nasty, unnatural or anything. Many tribes in Africa must start this way and the explanation is rather simple: one african guy and one african girl might have 10 kids in 10 years, maybe less. One african guy with 10 african girls after 10 years= a lot of babies. It's useful, it's healthy and it's good.

I think in most cases, in western socities that allow it, it's ok: as long as everything and everyone involved in it feels alright.
I think that other socities that have different but "right" reasons to do so are free to do so.
Also, I don't get opinions of it beign unnatural, wrong and whatnot. Eventhough they're different, I think the same moral dilema (or whatever you want to call it) should appear in recent exagerated promiscuity and _______. To me it's just having double standards: it's wrong if you have more than one wife but it's ok if you have sex with tons of different women. To some (maybe most) getting laid as much as possible is a goal in life...

~Will edit later. I can't remember what I was going to write in that last paragraph.

Uh, I don't really speak for them, but I'm pretty damned sure African kids are the same as any other kids in the world, they don't want to share their toys. Staying true to instincts (in such cases you proposed) seems to promote POSSESSIVENESS (see a lion sharing its prey with a wolf ever?) over actually being okay with it.
Now, again, I don't speak for you or anyone else, but I know well that I would not be happy to see my girlfriend getting upset over me pineappleing with other girls. Sure, who cares, it's good for the survival of the race, but the emotional distress is exactly what makes it unacceptable.

African beliefs and traditions are different from ours. They way you used African's as an example makes it seem like that t;she route they resorted to populate. I think it's rather selfish of people who believe in this. Especially I feel bad for the kids. Have you ever seen "John and kate plus 8".How hard it is to deal with 8 kids plan one on one parent trips for the kids. Now it would be extremely harder if John had 3 other wives and 10 other kids. I didn't reply to this thread out of religious beliefs, if your deeply in love with someone there no way in hell you would be ok with them having sex and raising a family with someone other than you.

If it's not my relationship then why would I give a crap? People can do whatever they want as long as it doesn't affect me.

Have you ever observed a worker ant complain to another worker ant that they share the same queen?

We're humans, not insects. Pretty sure I'd be in jail if I bit off my partner's head after mating. Just sayin'.

Not irrelevant. You were comparing an ant colony to human beings. THAT was irrelevant.
