Hey guys i have mentioned this in previous forums but i dont remember ever getting answered.
I contacted Daemarius a while ago asking about how i can max straight, Somersault kick, QM, AND dash, because i love how it works.
He said, max sash, somersault, and straight in 1st job, get QM to 11, and in SECOND job, instead of maxing Mp recovery, max QM
But that was a while ago, now i keep hearing that dash is bad because it messes your moving up.
I dont get this, i find that double tapping would make the game more fun, and i do not care at ALL if i have to double tap every time i have to move, so please explain to me why with all of what i just said, it is so bad to get dash.
The main reason is because one of your mob stunning attacks involves you turning around to do damage and stun (backspin blow). Dash deactivates when you turn around thus making it useless in training.
so what if it cancels.. its not like theres a delay is there? like lets say you are holding right, and are dashing to the right. if you press left would it just cancel and you would stay facing the right? or do you turn left immidiately cuz i can see the second option being fine and i will still max dash
btw Takebacker, whats ur gunslinger-to-be's name in windia, i wanna add u on my infighter-to-be
You're not gonna party a thief all the time. If anything you'll get bless or hb more often than haste. I can't remember the last time I trained with a thief.
If it makes you feel better farkuad, that's what I'm planning on doing. MP Recovery is useless with NLC pots. Useless in training but useful outside training is better than straight-up useless. I'm assuming you fall into the same category as most of the people prepping for pirates here, plenty of money to pay for MP pots lost to whatever useless dashing is done in training.

I said that if you were that bent on maxing all your first job skills (except couble fire) you could sacrifice MP Recovery
Do I recommend it? No. The 9acc / 9avd loss from QM is alot better than getting rid of an entire skill, and a useful one at that
How is MP recovery usefull... i dont know if im different but i have only played a hermit, and at wolf spiders, i hit, i pot, and im always checking my mp so i dont see myself EVER using MP recovery.
and so what if im constantly turning as a pirate, ill just constantly double tap its not really that hard..
*oh and at whoever said it, yeah ill have enough money for mana potions all the time*
EDIT: oh and at Dae, now your saying that its better to get 11 QM, max straight, max somersault, max dash, AND mp recovery?
JoeTang Wrote:MP Recovery is fundamentally flawed in GMS. Its only use would be for when you have a Cleric to Heal you, or when you run out of MP potions.
What do you mean in gMS? It's the same thing as it is in kMS.
Arrg Wrote:What do you mean in gMS? It's the same thing as it is in kMS.
Not quite. gMS is the only version that has MP pots that have a 1/1 ratio of cost to MP recovered. This is identical to the standard 1ish/1 ratio for nearly all HP pots in the game. So essentially you're sacrificing 1 for 1 in gMS, since HP and MP are worth the same amount here.
Although, this could end up being less true in later levels when it's worth it to use Ginger or Honster. Honestly, I don't see a reason not to use MP recovery for most of the game unless you're worried it would severely impact your training speed. I think it would be nice to not have to use an MP pot ever until you start bossing.

This is my 2nd job build, it has not changed ONCE since I first posted my entire build in April of 2008. The only skill I said you should ever sacrifice for Dash is Quick Motion. I said you COULD sacrifie MP recovery, but in my opinion maxed MP Recovery is more useful than the 9acc and 9 avoid you'd get from maxed Quick Motion
im still trying to decide whether i want dash or not, MP recovery seems good, but then again, so did Drain, and i never did get around to using that(dont even have it on a key). And 9 accuracy doesnt seem like much. Plus second and third jobs get a skill that boosts accuracy, but only temporarily in the third job skill, but it doesnt seem like there is a downtime
Tell me, how much dex = accuracy again? i was thinking it was 1 dex = .8 acc or someting like that, or was i wrong.
Is it going to be an issue potentially HTing? At least hitting it.
Jmax Wrote:MP recovery probably isn't that useful. It can only be used every 25 seconds. It's like a worse version on Chakra.
huh, so there is a cool down time. I think that decides it for me at least, ill just use pots even though recovery seems like it might be somewhat useful. I mean, if it wasnt cool down, you could just put it as your mp pots, i mean 10% of health to heal all MP isnt bad.

I dunno what base MP infighters have, but on my Paladin (~7200 hp, 800 mp) I don't even use MP pots much anymore thanks to the 40% recovery on Ginsengs. I'm definitely looting more MP Elixirs than I use (I gain about 400 a level..) so extra MP recovery would just mean I got more crap in my inventory.
