Is this really worth the Advertising infraction? It seemed like he was just notifying people that the site's up. Let alone banning the user, if he had the intent of advertising, while still keeping the link in there seems kind of odd.

I don't want to make like a protest or piss anyone off, but I agree the user shouldn't have been banned.
It's not like they had bad intentions. I don't even think they knew they were "advertising". They just wanted to remind some users that a loved website had re-appeared after disappearing twice.

It is, judging by the wording. The end-result helpfulness is appreciated, thus the thread remains unlocked even after judgement has been passed. OP may or may not have had advertising intent, but the way it appeared, the post clearly warranted the infraction/ban. Advertisement bans are account-level anyway, shouldn't be of too much harm.
