PVP - Ice knight mode problem
#1
from what i've read and seen from ice knight mode videos, there's a problem with ice knight mode: drama
i mean a lot of the time the ice knight player are pressured to stop attack to let the majority win, there are only bad things that come out of this
1/ the ice knight player agrees to stop attacking, making him lose and gets less experience, whichh isn't that "fair" anymore
2/ the ice knight player ignores and the other players hate on him/her, which might result in drama after like ksing or trashtalking or w.e

so wouldn't it be better if nexon code it so that the names and level of ALL the players (including alliance) are hidden when enter the map? and i mean all players because it is really easy to find out who's really the ice knight from seeing the "missing" player. and also wouldn't it be better if the ice knight wouldn't be able to see the player's chat and vice versa. this way the players can still form "strategies" (if any) to defeat the ice knight and he/she wouldn't know and there wouldn't be pressure/trashtalking going on.
just a thought

Better idea- Go with friends

Theres always going to be some greedy idiots in every corner of maple, just look in pqs. It's better just to go with a group of friends and have fun, thats what ice knight mode was all about.

And if exp is really that important, get some trustworthy friends and take turns losing like in cpq.

Thats hard because iirc you can only select the mode you want to play, not the people who you play against.

What? Thats pretty dam crappy system. I know it was most likely made so it can't be abused by people with multiple comps, but still, I rather enjoying playing with friends then total strangers.

In the end, most people dont care all that much about PvP. Just like with the Ariant PQ, CPQ, Ghost Ship PQ, and all the other forms of PvP, people just want to abuse them for leveling up.

And unfortunately, nexon is clearly too stupid and lazy to implement real methods to make players actually play, rather than abuse the PvP for leveling up.

Sure its good EXP but in the end I don't see how it is..first of all you have to win. Second PVP is sort of a gamble in ms. You don't know who your fighting and even though your some amazing super funded 500000000000000000000000000% luk db, you can get your ass whooped by a hero who has no funding. PVP for exp to me just looks like crap..

A smart move from Kms would be to remove the exp gained from pvping. Its not like pvp will be useless because you still need those battle points to make lvl 130 stuff.

AND/OR they should let people PvP with whoever they wanted.

Actually when you enter Ice Knight, all the names and guilds are cleared. You can't even click on anyone. After the Ice Knight appears, everyone else's names show up though, so if you do it more than once, theres not really a point to the blank names.

So its like this: Unequip Every CS Item you have (These can tell who you are quickly) > Enter the Room > You got selected as Ice Knight > Troll Everyone on the room > GTFO out of there as soon as you win > Repeat. no?

All potential stats are disabled in PVP except for the the lvl180+ room...

This.

Actually, they shouldn't have added PvP yet. MapleStory wasn't made to be a PvP game and it's PvP system is horrible anyways.

That's what I said. Potential does not matter in pvp

I actually like pvp giving EXP, I always hated grinding on weaksauce mobs for EXP and bosses are eventually going to stop cutting it for me/I won't be able to get in runs. I always like fighting REAL PEOPLE in games like these and the fact that I can level up while actually having fun(although pvp feels a little incomplete still) doing a few pointless massacres with everyone else is just fine with me. Now the whole trolling thing behind it would be a problem, but ugh, it's like the party EXP ratio, people are going to get angry because a few people that don't matter to them are trying to badger for exploitable EXP as if they wouldn't have been that way without pvp.

Though I won't avoid pvp even if it has the EXP removed from it, just feels kinda nice that an enjoyable feature in a game also comes with a semi-decent reward in growth even if it doesn't compete with actual grinding(Not sure how great pvpexp is).

I think simply removing the names/chat would be a better idea than putting nukes on other aspects..then again taunting people while pvping would be out of the question if they did this. Yeah removing usernames would be the better thing. I mean, we might as well take any form of ranking out of Maplestory to stop them from being harassed. Lets take FangBlade off the rankings (and every one else) so that they won't be harassed, but then again people like their beloved rankings and forcing everyone to remove their spot would just be stealing something from them to inhibit the harassment of some random anons no one cares about.

You are taking that too far. The only kind of harrasement would happen only inside the PvP arena because most idiots that will go there want to have the Easymodo Exp and thats when the harrasement start. Specially in the Ice Knight Mode, because its 5-9 against 1, and most of the people that go to ice knight most likely can't pvp decently because of lag or for OP classes like Dualbladers,NL and what not dominating the arena. So what do they do? harass the unlucky guy that took the paper of the ice knight to lose on purpose to let the others win Easy exp.

In which case it would be taking it too far to start removing PVP rewards simply because of the group that bothers the ice knight when they can simply remove the usernames. I really hope people are not suggesting to remove certain parts of pvp because it's ''too easy'' for random anons?

Ms is a game where you are supposed to have "Fun", and being harresed for being the Ice Knight that didn't want to "Lose" its not fun.

"Pressure to stop attacking?" What the hell? Do people understand the point of PvP?

I'd attack anyway. What do you have to gain from PvP if you're just going to lose on purpose? Why bother PvPing at all? The whole point of PvP is to have fun testing your abilities (or usually just equipment) against other players. If you're going to lie down, cover your eyes, and roll over like a peach just cause someone is going to DC you, you should probably go do something else.

That comment had nothing to do with what I just said, I said it's an option to remove usernames which should take a much bigger priority than removing the perks that come with PVP.
