I just bought Metroid : Other M for $13 Brand New

Yep.


I've heard so much about this game, it deterred me from buying it for so long. After watching videos of it and talking to people about it, I finally decided to give it a go. I'm a huge fan of the Metroid series, so it'd be awkward anyway for me to miss a game in the series, since it would be like a gap in the story line that I missed.

I'm about to pop it in and play it. From the videos I've watched, it looks fun as hell to play, so I don't see much problem with the actual game play. The graphics do look a bit on the cheap side, since that's what I've heard bad about it. I don't really mind, though, since the Wii and Nintendo are not really about graphics, but game play. I've also heard bad things about the story, but that's something I have to judge for myself, I guess.

All in all, if this game is entertaining to me, it was well worth the $13 I spent on it.

I don't mind it so far, but I've only just reached the first save point. The game play so far has been good. I almost feel like I'm playing a classic Metroid game without being on a planet and all, except with a 3 dimensional world, instead of a side scrolling 2D world.

I do miss the Metroid Prime scanner mode, which I wish they kept. When I first ran into an enemy, I tried scanning it out of habit. D:

Edit : Oh, and I'd like to add... Don't play this game during the day. >_> I can't see sh'it because it's so dark.

Okay, I'm starting to get confused why you guys are angry at the fact that she's restricted from using things. She's under the command of a father figure to her, so she of course will obey him. Applying logic to the whole situation, it's obvious why certain things would be restricted until reasons were found that such weapons would be necessary to complete their mission.

Maybe I haven't gotten far enough yet, but so far, everything is logical for the reasons why she's following Adam's orders not to use anything.

*cough* The fact that it caters to the Japanese more than the Westerners is what made this game "suck". But the excuse for lack of powers is just getting... different... and equally as absurd as depicted in Decline of Videogaming.

This game... F'ucking awesome. I don't know what the hell other people are playing, but this game is awesome as hell. Two thumbs up.

It just makes people mad that after so many games of being stoic and badass that her character suddenly breaks down to being un-badass. Also, haaate. I'd like to buy a new Wii game for only 13 clams.

Well, really... It's the only Metroid game with a back story. The other games just focused on the now and Samus wasn't under anyone's command. In this game, she's under her former General's command, who was also a father figure to her when she was under his command originally.

So much logic. It hurts. Also Samus is now a masochist.

Game is mediocre.

The gameplay is what saves it. Story, voices and the fact that Samus isn't really alone hurts the game a lot.

I'd rather the game turned out like the Prime series. They had something good going with Prime, but now that's gone :I

It's funny, because most negative comments about this game are of changes in the series. You know that if a game is the same way throughout the entire series, it's going to be extremely dull and redundant, right? Change is always good, because it refreshes the games and makes the older ones more special.

I view Metroid : Other M as the same thing. People are putting it down so much, they ridicule it so much, they don't even look at why it's gold.

There is nothing gold about it.

It's mediocre as I said before. The gameplay, the most important part of the game, saved it.

The Story, characterization, and dialog was amazingly poor which hurt the game greatly.
