Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 General
Uh... Enlighten me a bit up on this. What characters did Marvel reject? O.o

Can't confirm, but I'm going to guess their more older less recognizable characters like Jin, Son-Son, and Amingo won't see the light of day.

Rob Wrote:Yes, MvC2 is just way too chaotic. It's super super super super fun though. MvC1 had a little better pace, which I actually liked.

But the chaos was something you simply won't see in other fighting games. It was lightning fast paced if you set it on Turbo, and my god the triple team supers.

Uh Jin is from Capcom. Isn't Amingo too?

Yeah, I know Henry, I don't despise it at all. It's a big part of the reason I like MvC, Darkstalkers and Touhou shootan games for example.

Capcom vs. SNK 2 also had a great gameplay pace, since you could play like SFA3, MvC or KoF. It had both chaos and skill.

I'm really in the mood for some SFA3 now.

EDIT: who the hell doesn't play in Turbo ._.

No no, Marvel didn't have a say on what Capcom characters wouldn't make it in.

Marvel didn't let Capcom use Juggernaut, Cyclops, any of the Fantastic Four (they suggested Skrull instead though, which is a better idea anyway), and probably a lot more. They almost didn't let Capcom use Shuma-Gorath or Sentinel either, but Capcom managed to make them reconsider since both of them are veterans to the series.

Rob Wrote:Isn't Amingo too?

Technically, I guess. He was an original character made specifically for MvC2. Ruby Heart as well, but she was actually a Darkstalker that never made it into the Darkstalker series, so they kinda just decided it'd be better to not let the beta work they already did on her go to waste and threw her sprite and such into MvC2.

Kinda like how Ingrid was a character specifically made for a Capcom crossover fighter (Fighting Evolution I think), so doesn't really have a game of her own. She was playable in Street Fighter Alpha 3 though, and I liked using her a bit.

Seems pretty stupid. I wonder why they didn't o.o

Marvel vs. Capcom were always good publicity of Marvel characters

Who knows, but apparently Marvel was really picky on who Capcom could and couldn't use.

For one thing, Shuma-Gorath hasn't shown his eye in comics in...many many years, and is hardly relevant anymore, so I suppose that's why they wouldn't want him in. And Sentinel in MvC isn't even a real Sentinel, it's like a super Sentinel, so pretty much a Capcom original character. I'm guessing most of what Capcom couldn't use was rejected because they're characters that haven't been too important in comics lately, and they want to promote new stuff. Like the upcoming Thor movie.

Oh derp, my bad. I only mentioned the Capcom side without some Marvel examples too. >_<

Yeah Spidey has it right, there be the Marvel examples. Sorta surprised they axed Cyclops though. He's practically the first character you'd think of when you think of a Marvel fighting game. :<

He's currently the leader of the X-men too.

Yeah. I'm kinda surprised about Cyclops too. I would've loved to see some Fab Four in here too.

Hsien-ko's swing assist while tagged out in Dark Force is freaking amazing. Just sayin.

I played the game for like 8 hours last night. Hsien-ko's Dark Force is retarded to try to deal with. It's like 10 seconds or whatever of complete super armor. I'm really not sure how I feel about the game, as I felt a lot of my wins weren't deserved because I was doing random mashing a lot and confirming it into baby's first combo combos (A>B>C>launch>A>B>C>Super). I'll wait it out though and see how the game grows competitively.

In the meantime, Dark Phoenix hits like a train and is fun as pomegranate. Here's one of my friends reverse OCVing my other friend with Dark Phoenix.

Isn't it? It's amazing. A shame that apparently not many people are using her online. I haven't jumped online yet because I'm still trying out what team I want to stick with before hopping in, but maybe tomorrow I'll try some online mathes.

Eh, don't feel bad. It's still a new game, nobody is expecting you to know advance combos on the first day. Just get into the feel of it and create your own combos.

Yeah, Seth said that she can kill you within 20 hits of just chip damage. With X-factor helping her out, it's probably half that amount.

Wow @ Dark Phoenix. Holy .. f`uck. Broken.

Wait, did she just.. regenerate HP as she attacked Captain America? WHAT THE F`UCK. My c`ock's so hard to seeing her attack and doing all that chip-damage, but oh my god, what the f`uck.. How the hell..

Phoenix has a that bubble super that lets her heal red health while the opponent is inside the bubble.

She's probably not going to see a lot of use competitively though. Having to hold 5 meters really gimps you, and your opponent can always just do a snapback to force Phoenix out and then kill her before she can get 5 bars. She's got some weird quirks though. Some combos that work as regular Phoenix, like SRK-B>Down Heavy>relaunch that don't work as Dark Phoenix because the stupid projectiles hit the other person after the normal connects, knocking them out of the combo as they don't have very long hitstun. Still fun though.

Not broken because she's a paper cannon that will get utterly destroyed if you get 1 good hit on her (See video of Hulk 2HKOing her below). You need 5 bars to make her into Dark Phoenix, and that's a pretty huge investment.

So she's one of those strong characters that you have to "last" for a while just to get enough energy to turn into that mode, and.. she has sh`it defense. Makes sense. I retract my previous comment. Not broken, more like "Totally not usable in competitive play".

Watching Nerdjosh with Arthur + Sentinel assist made me so sad. Oh the lameness. On the other hand, watching Marn play really REALLY makes me want to learn Zero. Glitter

Can't wait!

Zero in a nutshell:

A>B>C> forward C>launcher>A>B>B>C>launch button>ground pound super.

A fun little Tron Bonne combo I found using what I call Team Robot (Tron, Zero, Sentinel): B>B Drill>Launch>A>B>C>land>A>B>C>launch>A>B>C>ground> 2C with Zero Shoyru assist>jump exchange>land>Super.
