Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 General
"Mid in MvC2 still means he's useless competitively though."

Although mid tier is still good in more casual gaming environments, but when garbage tier is still nearly unusable in a more casual playing environment then we have a problem.

Kunagisa Wrote:Using MvC2 as a means of determining what characters used to be bad and what characters good isn't exactly the most accurate way to go about it. Aside from that, this game was built from the ground up, so Shuma could very well be top tier for all we know. We can't use previous character apperances to judge how they'd fair against others in newer titles.

Well, it was mostly because there is usually a trend in the character's prowress if there were prequels/previous versions of the same game title.

Example: Always expect small speedy characters to be top tier, big characters to be bad, and weird/unsual characters to not be very high tiered.

O_O I'm hoping Tron's chain saw move is a low...That would be the most brainless unblockable setup ever if you pair it with Viper's flame kick assist.

Just wondering, where'd you find that comic?

Is it no longer possible to get the special edition? Gamestop and Amazon don't have it anymore, but the official site is still advertising it...

Capcom Unity store I think. Dunno if there will be a "sold out" message when you try to check out or not.

hm.... i don't really see that combo videos that impressive, they look really basic to me but to be fair the game isn't even out but I can already see possibilities of crazier combos (this being similar to TvC more so then MvC2 should probably be an indicator as well)

i've like been dreaming of possible combos in my sleep for the past week <_<... lmao OH YA CHUNNERS

They are basic combos, the point of video is to show how much combo potential is in the game though. It's not even out for a week (well, technically not out at all) and people are having fun just playing around and coming up with these. Imagine when people really get their hands on this a few months down the line. Plus, they look cool.

Also, for anyone that's intimidated by everything going on, watch this video:

But........ I'm happy to even do 10 hits in a regular combo. ._.

So, I finally got MvC2 for the PS2 yesterday.

I'm... not really pleased. The 4-button system is kinda dull. Also the AI >_>

LF> People to play with :/

...For the PS2?

By the way, the button layout was completely revamped in 3, if that's what you're worried about.

Yea. MvC2 was not even that good of a beat em up in terms of control or gameplay. Sure it was fun and all, but it was all about the massive amounts of characters. I'm sure MvC3s actual gameplay will leave the previous instalment in the stoneage dust, but the game will really loose out in the end unless the DLC is massive and not overpriced. As a big time fan of MvC2, I know I am very bothered by the tiny rooster. I'm also furious about the lack of Venom, but I shall admit that it is more of a personal problem than a flaw in the game.

To be fair, there were a lot of characters I never even really bothered to touch in MvC2. And lol 2 Wolverines.

Smaller rooster = easier to balance and more actual work being done on each individual character. MvC2 was full of recycling resources to put out fanservice. It gained popularity simply because of how chaotic and full of fan favorites the game was, as well as the overall hyper fanbase. The game itself was horribly unbalanced, but fun to play simply because of how chaotic everything was.

Rather than scraping up scraps of other games for a cool concept, Capcom actually created MvC3 with a serious fighter in mind, giving it as big of a budget as Super Street Fighter IV and expecting to outsell it. At the same time, they want to keep what made MvC2 fun, and it looks to me like they really kept that.

I don't mind having less characters if it means more of them will actually be playable against most other characters. And I don't mind having less characters if it means every character will have serious work put into creating them, rather than just throwing their sprite in from an old game and porting their moveset.

Capcom plans to have a lot of DLC in this game, they made the game with DLC in mind. It may not all be characters, but I'm sure we'll get a decent amount of new faces to the current rooster as time passes. We don't have a Spiderman villian in the game yet, and that's actually kind of odd considering how iconic a lot of them are within the Marvel universe. Venom has a pretty nice number of votes on official DLC polls, so he may be considered at some point, it'd just be up to the devs (and whether or not Marvel approves) to make him. Just hope if they do make him they use Eddie Brock as Venom.

Yeah, well, I had bought it for a friend back in 200..7? And picked it up yesterday, since my parents got a PS2 for my little sister last July. I want 6-button layout again prease~

Venom without Eddie Brock would be lame.

Yes, MvC2 is just way too chaotic. It's super super super super fun though. MvC1 had a little better pace, which I actually liked.

Yeah, but Eddie is Anti-Venom now. Though, it's not like they care too much about keeping things canon in this game, considering Phoenix and Captain America are in it; but Marvel seems like they rejected a lot of characters Capcom asked them for.
