And people say gms handle meso exploits bad ha

At least players did have to suffer the horrors of a roll back. My only problem is that there are apparently a lot of unecessary bans.

Well this is how NexonAM dealt with the mesos exploit in the summer with the Donation Box.

That was pretty horrid, worse than Rollbacks IMO, especially since after they un-tradeblocked people, they were able to dupe their inventories.

Holy hell this is worse than a rollback. Remember what you bought/sold for 4 days a week ago? Hell I could barely tell you what I bought today...

Actually it didnt end there:

Quote:Dear Maplers,

Following our announcement from yesterday, we have decided on the final measures
to be taken against the Meso exploitation issue and would like to share them with
you before they come into effect.

We have tried to approach the current situation from various angles in order to find the
best possible solution that could maintain and protect your best interests in terms of
your accounts and usual gamplay, and after endless internal discussions, investigations
and simulations, we (toughly) decided on the following actions:

STEP 1: THE MESOS OF ALL ACCOUNTS WILL BE DEDUCTED BY A CERTAIN, (FOR SOME CASES)
HIGH, YET REASONABLE PERCENTAGE, BASED ON THE TOTAL AMOUNT THAT EACH ACCOUNT
CURRENTLY HOLDS.

We know that this measure may be difficult to accept at first as it affects ALL players, regardless
the fact whether or not they have engaged in the illegal meso exploitation, and we are fully
aware that this will lead to the sacrifice of innocent and legit players.
However, and to our fullest regret, with the elapsed time and the amount and cases of spread
Mesos, it is impossible to distinguish non-participants from participants of the exploitation.
Therefore, we have decided to focus on bringing back balance to the economy and
enabling the normal gameplay again as quickly as possible, rather than spending excessive time
on investigating each case (based on the EOIs that we had called for) with very low outcomes
to expect.

However, we will still keep on pushing our best efforts to track down the actual hackers who have
plotted this disturbance, and take separate measures against them accordingly.

FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION, WE WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU NOT TO
SELL AND/OR TO BUY HIGHLY PRICED ITEMS UNTIL THE DEDUCTION OF MESOS ARE
COMPLETED, AS YOU MAY LOSE YOUR ITEM (THROUGH SELLING) AND EARNED MESO AFTER
THE GENERAL DEDUCTION.

STEP 2: ALL ACCOUNTS THAT HAVE BEEN TRADE-BLOCKED DUE TO THE MESO EXPLOITATION
WILL BE RELEASED FROM THE BLOCK AND COMPENSATED WITH 10,000 MAPLE POINTS.
(Accounts with mule characters only will be excluded from the compensation)

Additionally, as a compensation for the extended maintenance time for our latest server check on
Tuesday, February 1st 2011, all characters that possessed cash items during the time of
maintenance will receive 1,000 Maple Points (instead of 1 Incubator as previously noticed).

The above listed actions will take place with our regular server maintenance scheduled for
tomorrow, Wednesday, Feburary 9th, 2011
(click on the date to see the maintenance notice).

We sincerely ask for your kind understanding and support for this difficult decision we had to
make for the sake of the entire Maple community and economy, and deeply apologize for
the inconvenience that our legit players may have to suffer from.
As promised in our previous announcement, we will do our best to detect and to respond to
all unacceptable attempts as quickly and as firmly as possible in the future.

Once again, thank you very much for the great support and generosity you have backed us up with
through this process, and we hope to keep the Maple Community clean and enjoyable together!

Heard of people losing amounts ranging from 700m to 20+bil. I had 500ish m at the time, but havent logged in meanwhile, so dunno how much I lost.

I earned 2b legitly and before the exploit and stored it to make a new top/bottom set.
I got 400m now and prices didnt change since hackers just got access to all their mules again :')
F'uck you nexon.

My ass. Jeez, that second announcement sucks. Legit people are all screwed over, so even poor people too lol. A rollback to a few days back would've been better as now it affects everyone in eMS.

So then, compensation is 10k maple points for accounts that were trade-blocked & 1k maple points all characters that have/bought cash items.. lolwut?

Interesting, last patch they also adjusted our taxes.

To be honest I'm fond of this whole meso cutting thing, except that they should've cut everyone's mesos instead of only those who logged in between 5 january and 9 february.

luls, mesos in Duey weren't affected by the cut, and around the 30th of April we will have Dutch Queen's Day event again, aka 0% taxes for about a month?

I can't see how it's a terrible idea

Because 200m is an extremely low cap for the maximum tax applied. There are a lot of items exchanged daily that are over 200m and they want to take FIFTEEN PERCENT? Not to mention the tax is exactly the same for shops and trade windows, so now there's no incentive to buy shops with NEXON CASH for reduced taxes.

I feel bad for any EMSer who merchants now.

those new taxes are very robin hood... too bad the poor dont see any benefit.

From my personal view of things, eMS was always bad. The order they sent out content, channel system, hacking prevention etc. But the ship really started sinking after their broken 21.7x exp + 30lvl mastery book minidungeon event. Exploits following soon after.

The belief that 200m is a low cap is perhaps a sign of the beginning of an unhealthy economy in our own GMS caused by the inflation that has been happening in the last few years. 200m was a decent amount of meso to work with years ago, but nowadays every new player starts off with that much.

If anything, it's not EMS that needs a better tax table, but rather GMS that needs a better meso sink (perhaps guild skills?)
