Original League of Legends (LoL) Thread
Duelman Wrote:Subforums are scary yes, just look at some of the ones of the past. I wonder if we could expand upon the LoL group that Ray had made a while ago?? I've been thinking
that would be a good place to conversate together. The only real issue is the placement of the community tab, I think there should be an easier place to click that leads
you to your group choices.

Since I'd completely forgotten I was in that group, an easier time getting there would be nice. Point for Duelman/Gryffindor.

Just an FYI: I will use Rammus or Amumu for normal games. If I get around to playing ranked games in 10 levels, then it's Amumu only

Better find some new characters. Amumu is banned a lot in ranked as well, He is one of the best tanks after all. If i were you i'd learn malphite, singed, taric, udyr (for jungler as well as tank you can knock out two birds with one stone by using him), cho gath, blitz, or even allisatar for a tank role. These are just back ups if those two aren't banned which they often are within the ranked games i've participated in. I've only played about around 30ish total and often the main bans are Amumu, Rammus, Eve, and the 4th varies.
Vlad and panth are frequent bans as well.
Pant occasionally but i've actually never seen vlad banned before so I cannot attest to that :/
Banning vlad is lololol-worthy.
Also i've never seen evelyn banned in ranked :f6:
From what I understand the banning vlad is more so nobody will pick him on your team most of the time.

Better not play ranked games if that's your game plan. Amumu is a fairly frequent ban choice. Aside from the fact that you need a minimum of 4 champions unlocked (technically it's 14 champions available), you can't queue dodge without facing a loss AND a leave.

-also-

I'm going to see if I can get to high elo in solo/arrange team playing only Kat. XD

GL with the Kat endeavor =P

Blitzcrank is very good at defending his tower so long as he doesn't get shut down pre-lvl 6. I don't know how that works out 1v2 though. And he definitely can't shove the tower over, let alone dominate the lane.

imo, Pantheon is banned right now because of the stupid glitch. Evelynn used to be top ban-worthy material between the time when someone posted about Soraka Bot and when Riot nerfed her.

I haven't seen Vlad banned yet.

3) A while back Riot Games released information about a new map you guys have been working on for 5v5 called "Magma Chamber". With so much of the community anxiously awaiting the release of this map, where are you at in terms of working on it and what sort of time frame is Riot hoping to have it go live?

Giving our players new ways to play League of Legends is a big priority for 2011. We've recently introduced the new Battle Training and we will be releasing the upcoming Co-op vs AI mode shortly. Putting out a new map has taken a long time because we were faced with a difficult choice. We are also in the middle of upgrading our graphics engine, which means we need to also upgrade our existing maps. We decided that rather than build Magma Chamber with the old graphics, then have to upgrade it shortly thereafter, we would build it on the new graphics engine. However, that also means it won't be finished until after the graphics update.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

Man what a waste of 1350 IP. I guess its back to the drawing board after I finish my Tank rune page. Frown
Just play amumun rammus and malphite, 3 best tanks IMO.
I doubt all will be banned, never tried that.
I havent seen amumu banned recently. mostly been rammus shen sivir and one other. And then again, a lot of the time people make really stupid bans or just pick random champions. if you have 4 champs you know how to play well i think you should be ok. you can also ask someone who is picking before you to get a champion for you. more often than not if you ask for a tank they will be happy to help you.

People actually do that? :f6:

Now I'm thinking about acquiring Blitzcrank and Cho'Gath (I have played Cho'Gath before, so its nothing new to me) just to make sure I don't get my ass wiped during champ selection in ranked games, lol

I just read up about Udyr. How does his Stance mechanic work?

In ranked games, it is arguably inconvenient within the given intentions of the draft system to force players to pick champions in the order that they have been lined up. It is more ergonomic to allow players to choose champions with draft rules, then later divvy up who plays who. This works so long as you and the other player attempting to exchange champions agree to it, and both of you own the champions being exchanged. (so I can't grab Rammus for you because he's not available for me, and I can't give you Anivia because you don't own her)

Blitzcrank is 6300 IP. Just a little warning.

Udyr's stance is basically a lot of passives that modify his stats in a few ways, so for example, Bear lets his attacks stun people (go read up some more on it before crying OP). An active mechanic of it also gives him a bonus effect or two for a few seconds when you change stances (Bear increases his movement speed, allowing him to run really fast). All stances stack up Udyr's passive, which lasts for 5 seconds until the stack expires or until you switch stances.
I'd go with cho over blitz if you are wanting to tank. Udyr has four stances, they each have an active and a passive to them. You gain the active for 4? seconds after using the move. Tiger gives attack speed, bear gives movement speed, turtle gives you a shield, and phoenix gives an aoe sunfire like effect. You always want to max bear and turtle stances. Leave either tiger or phoenix at lvl 3. You can change stance once per seconds, stances have a 3 second cd before you can switch to that one again. As for tiger vs phoenix, i believe you want to max tiger if you are going a dps(atk speed and damage) build, phoenix is for a tanking build. Udyr is also pretty strong in the jungle, although levels 1-3 are a bit rough and he is very very dependent on having blue buff.

I've been wanting to try those two out. Pratice games here I come, followed by real games if I enjoy them enough. Big Grin
Birdie Wrote:I'd go with cho over blitz if you are wanting to tank.

Hm...you might have a point there, lol. Though I do like Blitzcrank's capability to pull an enemy champion from a pre-determined distance to you using his Rocket Grab (?) skill and having your teammates pick the victim apart on a 3v1/4v1/5v1 basis. xD

Does the majority of Tristana's DPS comes from simply right clicking a target, in which the damage is fortified by its attack speed buffs/items and attack items? Just wondering

yes. I have seen a couple people build her ap though, since her three moves do scale well with it. But you need a TON of ap for this to work. Fun for messing around i guess but just play a mage if you want crazy burst damage.

Noooooo I was out last week and I wanted to try many of last week's characters............................. Frown
Just finished a practice game with Udyr, with it I can conclude two things:

I am not a jungler.
Udyr takes some real skill and time to learn how to play him well.

Next up is Gangplank.
