Well I was expecting a longer fight, but it's fine. Some interesting bits of information revealed this episode.
Spoiler
Magical girls get abilities based on the wishes they make. I was thinking this before, but now I kinda have more confirmation of it based on a few additional clues in this episode. Homura's ability is probably time manipulation/super speed. It goes with the theory that she's from the future and came back to prevent something from happening. The scene that originally made me think she had such an ability was in the Charlotte fight, where she got eaten but mysteriously appeared on the table in front of Charlotte. If you look at the scene frame by frame, Homura vanishes before Charlotte even bites the table.
At first I was kinda just thinking "SHAFT was just too lazy to animate a frame of her jumping off the table in a blur or something" but I was also thinking that was pointless to do because the scene goes by so fast that they could easily keep her in the same spot until the moment it's chomped and still pass it off as her just doing a super fast dodge. But in this episode we see drops frozen in the air as Homura runs to stop the battle, and Sayaka is also moved from the place she originally was (could be a case of QUALITY though). By this point I'm taking it as SHAFT giving hints about her ability. So, I wonder what Mami's ability was, given that she wished to survive the crash/wished to be revived. ZOMBIE MAMI CONFIRMED.
I also got confirmation that she didn't make a contract with Kyubey, but at the same time Kyubey was being cryptic about it (maybe something like "I didn't make a contract with her yet, but in the future I do).
And Homura really seems to be there to prevent Madoka's wish. By this point I'm thinking thew only way Madoka will be come a magic girl is if Homura and the others are about to die as well, which probably fits in with the theory of Sayaka becoming that witch that Homura is fighting in the first episode.
All speculation though. Possible SHAFT was just throwing in SUPAH COOL FX and being lazy with animation.
Puella Magi Madoka Magica 05:So many SHAFTisms in this episode including the QUALITY. If Kyubey could make facial expressions, they'd all be troll faces. Troll suspense ending too. Expecting some dark evil pomegranate to happen to Kyousuke. Kyouko is fantastic. Hope she doesn't die.
Infinite Stratos 05: No story progress, why am I not surprised. At least Charlottees is hnnnnnngggg. Not sure how to feel about PatchesLaura.
Infinite Stratos Episode 5
At least there's another boy in the acadmy now, oh wait....nevermind......?
EDIT: Yet another girl who wants to mess with Ichika, oh boy?
CionS101 Wrote:Oh yea I just noticed this but on the IS ending, I just realized it changes slightly everytime he battles a main female cast?
I noticed that earlier too. Either that or as each episode progresses, they add in a new chick. I'm liking the story thus-far, but it's really generic. At least it's not BOOBS BOOBS BOOBS NAKED BOOBS AND SAUNAS like most.

IS - 5 - Soooooo. Reverse trap, and then we end on a abusive peach? Ok then. Also, I cant decide which has the must retarded male lead when it comes to relationships, Ichika or Kazuya or whatever it is from Freezing...
Fractale - 4 - Great stuff as always. I really hope, like with Kuregehime, that this lasts longer than 11 episodes. Its just such a nice story and holds you at every episode and leaves you wanting more.
IS 5 - I was expecting them to go further with that unmanned drone. I mean come on, if something that serious happens, then wouldn't they want to shut down the school until further notice while they investigate where the thing came from? Also, I like how Ichiga's friend said how he felt sorry for the girls at his school because of how clueless he is. Oh and that girl dressed as a boy can change almost as fast as Gray from Fairy Tail!

I use GG subs. They seem decent to me.
Yumekui Merry - 5 - Awesome episode, easily the best one so far. Such a cliffhanger ending, cause I wanna know what happens when a human gets hurt or something in the dreams.

Manga seems to be exactly the same as the anime so far. That includes the scenes shown as well, up to the very last detail.
Following spoiler is from the manga.
Spoiler
Yumeji takes the hit, and he sustains damage to his very soul. Engi (one of the subbing groups calls her Play) freaks out and runs away. Yumeji acts cool and acts like he's alright, then collapses in his room when he and Merry get back. While he's out, he meets John Doe who gives him more information about Pharaos Heracles (the guy who Engi mentioned before their fight) as well as treats Yumeji's wounds.
It appears that John Doe would rather not attempt to seize Yumeji's body while Yumeji's in a weakened state, but would rather do it when the playing field is more or less level. I kinda like this guy already.
Index II Ep 17 - Kinda okay episode. Quite a lot of laughs here and there though. Oh dear. Looks like it's gonna go all "I, Robot" now...

Suddenly, an awkward sub!
Not to be mean, but putting spoilers from the manga and having it in spoiler tags aint helping :|

Me placing spoiler tags around it is me giving you a choice whether to click the button and read it, or stay the pineapple away from it till you watch the next episode. Unless your browser happens to load it with the spoiler button already clicked before hiding it.

Even with it wrapped, people will always wonder whats inside, whether it be presents or coal. Mainly my comment was in regards to things with a manga backing it. Its all well and good that there is one, but I dont need to know whats happening in the manga to better enjoy the anime.
Madoka Magica - 5 - Informative episode was informative. Its very interesting that the wish can determine the powers you can have.
GoSick - 5 - I kinda guessed right away that the theif dude was related to all this when they mentioned the 7-8 years ago. Still fun when they reveal it all and theres something missed by the viewer.
GoSick 5 - Victorique is so cute =P. The girl who's voice acting her is probably one of my favorites. She did the vampire queen lady (forget the name) in dance in the vampire bund.

I already mentioned that the anime's been completely identical to the manga so far, right down to the very last detail in graphics (apart from plot). That's why I cited the manga.
Index 17: Great; much better than lame-o nuns. I liked how all the interesting characters appeared. The sisters were especially funny, in both the hospital and the last scene. I wish they would stop characterizing Mikoto as nothing more than some tsundere who obsesses over Touma. The OP always shows her cool side but that pretty much never comes up in the story, which is disappointing. I know this show is all about Touma being the great selfless hero but they end up reducing many interesting characters (Himegami is the latest victim) as nothing more than Touma fangirls when they could easily be more than that.
I wonder what happened to Saten - she didn't even appear in the OP when the rest of the gang met up.
Index II ep. 17 - I have to say, the sisters are a rather unexpected source of amusement, and the episode was pretty entertaining overall; however, I agree with Salgoud about characterizing Mikoto as something other than a lovestruck, tsundere schoolgirl. Oh and I like how Touma's friends seem to try and get him to do things that might further his harem, and are completely aware of how girls constantly fall for him.
Freezing ep. 5 - Ok, why do all these girls have to rip the clothes off of each other's breasts? I can understand it happening every so often during a long battle, but these girls have done it deliberately on a number of occasions now! I do like how Kazuya isn't some wimp that's trying to pair up with some women he's fallen for, though. From what I can gather, it seems that he wants to team up with Satellizer because she reminds him of his dead sister more than anything else.
