You find 200 dollars on the floor, what do you do?

Serious question. I'd keep it. Why? No point in trying to return it to anyone else, because if I give the money to Customer Service, they'd probably keep it or something anyways. Karma does suck ass at times, and maybe I am a d`ick for saying that I'd keep it, but that's just me.

What about you guys?

As they say, money has no name. Unless it's a black suitcase with thousands of dollars inside I'd take it.

It depends where it is. If it's someone's in my class and I know it's theirs, and there is some sort of organization such as a money clip or wallet or rubber band, I'd probably give it back.

I know a lot of people that gets angry if another person were to take that high amount of money, but if they were in that person's shoes, I'm sure they would most likely do the same thing. Waiting for more replies, just to see what you guys think.

Yeah, it was loose money. I found 300 USD. Of course, wasn't surprised that a high amount of friends seemed to be upset at me. Nothing to be upset about. If this was money from someone I know, whether it's an acquaintance or friend, I'd gladly return it back because I would feel guilty inside. But since I don't know whose money it is, I do not feel any bit or remorse.

I have found money many times on the midle of the street and keep it. why? because i also have lost some money the same way so i consider it karma balancing or something :3

I would look around trying to find a poor bastard looking for money. If there isn't, I would keep it =/.

For me the $200 = 166 guilt free cubes

For me, this equals some games I wanted for a while, plus some money put down on the 3ds. Although, I would try to return it first, for maybe 10 minutes, but if no ones there, I would run to eb games like that.

I've actually had that happen before. Myself and another co-worker of mine found about $8,000 underneath a table at the restaurant we worked at. We remembered the guy who was sitting there but didn't know his name or anything else about him. He came back a little later and inquired about it. We had tucked it away in the safe in the office. We gave it back to him and he gave us each $100. Karma is great!

Depending on quantity and location I would turn it in to the proper authorities. That money could be someone's rent or food money for the month, and while they should have been more careful, if it's in my power to attempt to return it to them then I would. Besides, the police have a policy where if you turn in something like that and no one comes to claim it within 14 days then they give it to you.

It really depends. If I just find 200 dollars randomly somewhere on the floor, I'll just keep it. If I find a wallet, I'd obviously send it to its owner.

If I found those $500 in the middle of a mall, I would probably take them and wait a while in case I see someone looking for their money. No one looked for them? They're mine.
If I found $8,000 in a briefcase, anywhere, I would leave the thing there and start running while looking around paranoid.

If I could know the owner, I'd try to find the current owner to give it back.
If there's no way I could reasonably suspect who the owner is, keep it and call it good karma.

I've done similarly with lost wallets and people dropping money out of their pockets in the mall.

I'd make decent efforts (probably half an hour of various searching attempts, tops) to find the owner if the amount is significant (above $100). But I don't think I'd keep anything more than a thousand bucks.

LOL, not really. It was rolled up tight and wrapped with a thick rubber band. Obviously this guy had been at one of the casinos here in Vegas and got lucky LOL.

$8,000? Geez. @_@ I definitely would've returned it - at the very least, I would've gotten the cops involved if no one came to claim it.


I've found $40 in the street on my college campus - I looked around to see if anyone was looking or if someone had an open pocket with money sticking out. I feel bad for them, but how would it get returned? There was no camera on that particular section, so yea. :/

Take care of your money and pay attention, if i find it, then it's mine.
Money has no owner, i don't really care to how the person would feel without it's money, he lost it, the one who finds it next owns it.

There's a big difference between $20 and $200 dollars! You're completely justified in picking up $20 and not doing anything about it. I'd say the moral obligation to at least TRY and return the money starts at $100. Like I said earlier, if you take it to your local police station they'll hold onto it and keep your information. They won't advertise it being lost but if someone comes in claiming they lost whatever amount of money, the police will request they describe the type of bills, condition and bundling and if they're able to adequately prove that the money is theirs then they get it back, otherwise they will contact you and give it to you. It's finders keepers with a grace period.
