I've been cringing at the idea of merching again, but there's just no reliable way to make money anymore...so as the title says, where does a new merchant start? I haven't followed the market in over a year.
I'm poor as hell, but let's pretend I have 1bil. What is good to buy? Chairs? WGs? Or just go FM surf and look at things for ideas?
MTS merching is also an option, but I've never really understood that.

Wg's I find sell quite fast.
What I used to do(haven't done it in a while now...) is buy 10 att w/g's for under 160m in fm and sell in the MTS for 13.6k nx(the prices may have changed now.. I have no clue seeing as I haven't been maple-in' for a couple of weeks now)
Then I would sell the nx for 1:14-15 and repeat the process.
This would net me at about 40m profit off of each w.g

I never thought I would see the day where you would say "poor as hell".
Anyways, I personally would merch 8/10 atk WGs (buy 8 atks for 35-38 mil, sell for 43-45 mil, buy 10 atks for 130-140 mil, sell for 145-150 mil. There's always a couple of people who smega that they're selling them for ~125 mil, keep an eye out for those) and pink scrolls (buy for 38-40 mil, resell for 46-48 mil).

Merchanting can be a pain, but here's some good ideas to start with:
Since PQs are now open to all, getting ores, scrolls, and PQ items is much easier.
Just Collect a ton of PQ stuff and sell them off in the FM.
