Ballons float, you can atach them to planks and the planks will float.

Um...since summer? Not sure what was added when, but here's the big things:

2 Game Modes:
Boot Camp - super hard maps; given six minutes to complete them. You respawn every 15 second interval if you die. Mainly player-made maps.
Vanilla - the original maps of Transformice - no user made ones (except for a couple that existed before the map editor)

Portals: Based off of the game that used them, some maps allow Shamans to spawn blue and orange portals that mice can go back and forth in.

Balloons: Can lift up planks as well as mice if they're attached to them. Mice that can't wall jump well will ask for balloons to get up and over obstacles.

Tons of new items in the shop. That's about it off the top of my head - aside from a ton of user-made maps, like the one you see above. I've seen Yoshi, Mario, a wine glass with ice cubes, etc.

Mkay, I knew about portals and BALONS but I hadn't heard about the two game modes. That's cool. Thanks for the summary hehe.
