I personally loved SPM. I don't really put it in the same category as PM1/2, a lot of people seem to and thus bash it pretty badly for it. :< Though there were some parts of the game I couldn't stand.
Playing Paper Mario after beating TTYD is funny... I keep forgetting Superguarding doesn't exist in PM1.
The humor was definitely there, but I also have to say that this was the most unpredictable game series I have ever played that actually had a plot. It is impossible to guess who's going to be an ally or the final boss down the road here.
Final bad guy for final game spoiler
Thinking back, I had actually written a poorly formed story just like this for a high school epic for literature. It was supposed to be 6 pages, but I made it 32. My primary theme was powers sorta unwanted and the final bad guy being the narrator of the story itself. Here I thought that was original and they go and do that here.
Although something makes me angry and confused with their mockery of the space-time continuum.
Got too into Golden Sun again and am about to finish it as far as I can tell
Spoiler
Given the background info on this game, I guess that I had predicted things correctly. A couple years back I made a character JennaGS to mess with Issac and the rest of you guys in Khani, but never got around to it/knew your alts names. I'll delete it if anyone wants it.
As for the game itself, as addictive as it is; WAY TOO EASY. I have yet to have a character even die once and I'm at the end of the game, and I never really used the djin for class alterations either. I mean, I even backtracked to one of the side bosses, and with a weak party (mastering a weapon on Himi, Mathew out of party), I managed to beat it on the first go by basically spamming the regen summon and attacking, buffing, other summons between it.
Went back and played a bit of Rogue Galaxy again, but I wrote over that file by accident when checking my completed file, and said pineapple it and started grinding towards 100% completion on it. In the midst of my second more painful ghost ship extreme venture.
Moved forward about 2 chapters in HL:OP. Oh and Suikoden II.... I'm getting back to that ASAP.
I tried to play Chrono trigger I really don't see why people liked that game so much even the special attacks are boring to use and useless half the time, especially the ones where it takes all three party members to cast them. A waste of turns for a shiny light that doesn't do as much damage as your combined normal attacks, the battle system usually just goes down to some buffs then spam attack and healing spells. And the story is kind of boring the only good part that I can't complain about much is the music.

Get out of here... NOW.
Boring story? Bad battle system? Jeez. Double and Triple Techs are nothing like regular attacks/magic. For real dude.
Thanks for the suggestion, AkaSora. Going to replay Chrono Trigger.
I prefer Chrono Cross (which I might replay after Trigger) bu in its time, Trigger was revolutionary. I can understand how someone who's only played the DS port and wasn't raised with it might find it a little mediocre, but a lot of what you see in games NOW was started by Chrono Trigger. The depth of the story and the importance of choices rarely played a big part in games before CT. An active time battle system that didn't require a screen transition was an amazing feat. All things considered, it's aged surprisingly well. It's still an enjoyable experience.
Hit a wall in Persona 4, so I stopped playing that for now. Taking my time through Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. Its harder than I expected, but it feels more fulfilling than any other RPG I've played recently. Like, if one of my party members dies, It affects me more than I know. I may need that demon for a common enemy in the dungeon/area I'm in, and I could get sent back to the last save point (some times with a truly stupid amount of distance between them). Then, when I can actually get past a challenging fight or section, it feels like I actually accomplished something. This game is the only one that has successfully made me fear random encounters.
Other than that, been playing Black Ops online with some DKCR in between.
Don't get me wrong but the story wasn't the best ever but its still good I said boring because some parts actually are boring. The battle system is like an upgraded final fantasy 4,5,6 active time battle system or whatever which was always good just boring and annoying as hell at times boring in regular fights while grinding and annoying at some bosses on those games. The techs were actually well done but the triple tech I have for the main three characters kind of sucks honestly, haven't seen anymore of them though not much incentive to use them at times unless I forgot something. I should just go finish the game soon, also I did play the original a long time ago got to the future and was lost haha...Oh yeah still talking about Chrono Trigger if anyone didn't know by this time.
Finished the primary story of Golden Sun: Dark Dawn and I gotta say...
Plot spoilers+ etc.
...God, WHY the cliffhanger!?!? For the longest time, I was like, "Aren't we forgetting something here? Something that needed investigating and nearly took the life of a friend?" When I finally finish, I'm thinking, well that was a plot hole. Of course the credits sorta leading into thinking otherwise, but dammit, the game seemed kinda short to me, so why couldn't they have just stuffed it into a single game? Was it actually a better idea to aim at Sol Sanctum like the "enemy" wanted? Would that have prevented all this? What happened to Alex? Too many unanswered questions. And speaking of; what was the motivation of these kids in the first place to activate every ruin they entered? I mean, I knew as the player I needed to in order to progress, but weren't their parents clear enough teaching their kids that this whole thing is questionable business? Why did they REALLY need to activate that ruin where you got the grip crystal? I mean, you were passing though some hills, just move on. Did my exploring areas before I was intended to make me miss some plot scene? But I digress.
Also took out Ancient Devil prior to beating the game. While he wasn't necessarily strong, he took quite a bit of time after I learned something the hard way. Last turn before major summon assault. Possess fastest character/healer on team. Unleash Golem Nuke summon on myself followed by Devil Claw summon (finished 10 mins ago; NEVER expect me to remember a name). I'm not dead, but not happy either by the end of that. Because of that, I didn't use Djin for the rest of the battle.
Despite those little moments of being peeved and a few other things, I still think this was/is a very solid game. Maybe my memory is fogging up a few things, but I still think the originals were better. At least for the point the driving force for the exploration. All said, more games like this need to be made. I need more world maps to explore, rather than insta-dungeons.
I plan on wrapping up the extras within the next week or so, depending on when I catch up with certain things.
And yes, I have problems, since before finishing this; I went and jumped into another game. And if you remember, I was RIGHT before the final boss in GSD. Focus issues never really go away...
Anyway, jumped into a game I had bought during the steam holiday sale and have been pleasantly impressed so far. Overlord. It's basically Dark Pikmin with Dark/Light affiliations and added RPG elements. Very fun, and hard to put down, and has lasted a decent amount of time for a game of this genre and I'm still not finished with it. I do think the controls are a bit off for the PC though. I'm often required to mutli-manage the minions, but I have a bit of a time getting them where they need to be without them dieing or me having to drop control to get some baddies off me. Although you won't have to worry too much about that since compared to Pikmin, you are FAR stronger than your minions.
Despite how much I avoid emulation and pirating these days, I also threw Link's Awakening onto the smart phone I got over the holidays for free with a contract. I sold my GBA so I can't play GBC games anymore. BUT I still own the cartridge to Link's Awakening, so I don't think I'm in the wrong in this case. The nostalgia is nice and all, but the whole "no button, just touch" thing is hard to get used to.
Anyway, I have to rise in the morning far earlier than normal tomorrow, so I'll stop going on and on.
Children of Mana
Etrian Odyssey 2
Golden Sun Dark Dawn
Dragon Quest 9
Guilty Gear (DS)
Now I have no games to play, well console games. Might wait for a 3DS since the L and R buttons on my DS are so far gone there's next to no point trying to play games that require their use.

this is old, but i am replaying this game, and i must ask if you played the original 2, i did, and when i got to that cliffhanger of an ending, i was actually happy, the game was waaay too easy, and the only dungeon that really pushed the DS to it's limit and that was real fun, was the last one, everything else could have been solved by a 10 year old kid. then again, this game is the continuation of a game that came 7 years ago.
but the first two had much more plot to them, and dificulty too, the only "truly" difficult battle was the darned wizard from GS2, that guy in GS3 wiped the floor with me before the final boss fight.
then i went in with lolsummonrush :S
but the cliffhanger made me happy, hopefully we will see a better story and better dungeons in GS4, not to mention the cliffhanger MEANS there will be a GS4 (there better be goddarn)
