Elemental Wands & Staves Petition
#61
I still think that these bonuses should not be re-implemented in any form. Dusk's DPS chart shows that Arch Mages are pretty close to warriors in terms of damage. This is without EWand bonuses nor the impressive boosts they got from the Chaos patch. If KMS decides to boost Arch Mages even more down the line, these weapons could easily become even more broken. However, Battle Mages gain quite a large boost from using EStaves so Nexon should simply make them Slow(8) like the majority of Staves.
I don't feel any pity for Arch Mages who feel like they're losing money. Aside from the one or two people who spent hundreds of dollars trying to Gach the weapons, the price was still less than what Bishops paid for them. We were told that the weapons were working as intended for a good year before they were nerfed. You might say that Bishops should have known better but not everyone reads forums or follows future updates. I had a few Bishop friends who had no idea that these weapons were from JMS. Anyways, the difference is that Bishops not only spent more for the EWands, they were also forced to resell at a lower price since the weapon was now unusable. At least Arch Mages still have a suitable end game weapon after the nerfs. Aside from the diminishing supply of VIP Weapons, EWands and EStaves are the best end game weapon for Arch Mages. So technically they aren't losing anything at all, aside from a bonus that they no longer need.
You took a gamble and you lost. I would only sign this petition if there had been no word from Nexon and the weapons could be considered glitched.

Who gambled?
When you buy something you generally don't run the risk of it spontaneously becoming something else.
If you bought a gun that shot real bullets for a year then suddenly turned into a water pistol over night without warning was that a gamble?
There was word from Nexon and they're not showing any sign of actually keeping it, so still reason to sign.

The "Working as Intended" excuse is tried and failed. They've already demonstrated the first two times they said it that it was a meaningless cover for their incompetence.
They've acknowledged they're not working, now they need to backpeddle their lie and fix it, or compensate as promised.

YOU TOOK THE GAMBLE OF BUYING A HOUSE WHEN IT COULD TURN INTO A GIANT MECHANICAL SPIDER SOME DAY, EOS. Your fault.

You and everyone else complaining about loss of money gambled. This is an online game, and as such it is open to tweaking. To say this is unfair on you is to say Big Bang itself is unfair. Unfair to everyone who spent a vast amount (before knowledge of Big Bang) on getting skillbooks for skills now made pointless, like all those Bishops who spent billions on Genesis. And a "working as intended" from Hime, constantly proven to be an idiot out of touch with her own company, is not the same as an official announcement. Just as I didn't feel for the money wasting Bishops who suddenly had their E-weapons forcibly taken, I don't feel for the money wasting Arch Mages who have now suffered the same fate.

Except those scenarios are not even remotely related.
Bishops were using a weapon specifically designed for another class they should've been penalized for touching in the first place, whereas AM's have had those same weapons made specifically for them suddenly lose what made them unique in the first place after having had to fight tooth and nail to get them to work right to begin with.

Quite comparable to the current situation, then. Elemental Weapons were designed in JMS (?) without Bishops in mind, thus when transferred over the penalty to Bishops should still apply. Big Bang was designed in KMS, without Elemental Weapon bonuses in mind. So why, when Big Bang is transferred over, should the bonuses be KEPT? Other than to satisfy the gamble you took.

Because unlike KMS we also kept world tour and other things native to our own locale, or imported from other locales, and JMS itself, where the weapons are from, kept them and kept bonuses on them, even if lesser bonuses.

You keep calling it a gamble when it wasn't, isn't and should've been.
Getting them was a gamble. Keeping them should never be without advanced warning.

Well, I guess I must contribute for as many warm fuzzies as I can get since the icy cold disappointment I received when realizing this was not Nexon "official" has frozen me to the core or if you wish, insert some other tundra cold hyperbola.

A full reinstatement of the bonuses would be desired but not necessary for my contentment, a resolution and the delivery of compensation as promised is what I am really looking for. No lying and stalling and running around the problems; if you need testers to determine the best bonus to apply, SP has plenty of mathematicians to give you straight numbers and plenty of experienced AM players for you to throw into a Tespia. If you are trying to determine a fair monetary or NX-based compensation, there are plenty to survey here and elsewhere to the value of their weapons. Do not even try to whine about liars, I am sure a "1M NX pl0x" suggestion would be excluded from a sample pool. If you need to know how to recode the bonuses back in, it is done. We figured out Error 38, SP is full of consultants available for this problem and I'd be willing to bet that many would work for free.

KMS may have raised a mage's profile a bit and they can be lauded for their best efforts, but they have failed at the initial balancing in Big Bang; Buccaneers come to mind as an example of this. I know plenty will disagree and the 4th Job DPS thread through the most recent pages are enough to represent this, but for me, I'd prefer a box of saltines in terms of boringness of similar DPS across the classes than what we currently have. I know Chaos does some things to rebalance the classes but I am not currently focused on what may come but what we have, I'll leave that to another day.

It has been mentioned that changing the skills to implement balance is what is most needed and I definitely do not disagree, but GMS has not shown the capacity to implement these changes without first implementation in KMS and thus it lies with weapons where changes have occurred previously to provide these changes. Although I am aware many of you realize this, but the M.ATT of the 163 Staffs don't make them overpowered since the Wand/Staff multiplier pretty much take care of that when compared to other weapons. Someone will invariably think the last statement was directed towards them, it was not, don't bother commenting and huffing and puffing that you understand.

Aside from solutions like 10%/5% boost and others mentioned in this thread, if the weapons provided some sort of ignore MDR value (stackable), that would be fine with me. F/P's have a great assortment of ignore MDR skills in DoTs, but the lack of an innate ignore rate or skills among magicians in general are a great hinderence in our damage especially considering PDR and MDR rates are the same for a monster. Of course this is another balancing issue to be handled at another time, but it illustrates changes that can were not considered and could be applied to E.Weapons.

Rick Wrote:Big Bang was designed in KMS, without Elemental Weapon bonuses in mind.

I would accept your line of reasoning even if I do not agree with your gambling association if not for your incorrect statement of the quote above. Big Bang was not designed without elemental bonuses in mind, it was designed without elemental bonuses and without the weapons. I'm not not merely playing with a semantic argument here; how can a change in E.Weapons in GMS be justified by using KMS when they do not even exist and thus could not be taken into account. If anything, looking to JMS for JMS originals should be the method that should be taken and if I am not mistaken, it is what we did for various mobs throughout.

I suppose that unless I have additional complaints to a patch (Galicia MTS, etc.) I will now refrain from solely mentioning E.Weapons in any subsequent SC, Patch, etc. thread out of respect to the intention of this thread. However, I will continue to complain and will list this if I am making lists of unresolved issues.

This doesn't fall under the umbrella of mere "changes over time".

Please tell me how doesn't it fall under the umbrella of mere ''changes over time''? A whole reverse set takes a whole lot of time to make. And then you have to properly scroll and potential/cube them to. I myself own two elemental wands, but I don't really think this change specifically needs a petition (I've never seen a petition on southperry, only on basil...). Elemental weapons are STILL the best weapons for Mages so your effort and money doensn't go to waste at all.

@the other guy who replied to me: It was just an analogy which fitted in my opinion.

Because changes over time just make the stats of your hard-earned equipment less meaningful. This is a complete removal of an effect. You don't lose the att that you scrolled onto your gloves when they release a new type of scroll or better glove.

How about if anything scrolled by those obviously unfair 2-handed weapon for attack 50% scrolls, no matter how godly, turned back into clean weapons? And then Nexon would state that it's "intentional". Anyone who uses them would be complaining just like AMs are. If ele weapons with a bonus are overpowered then so are dime-a-dozen 50% 2-handed weapon attack scrolls.

That's way off topic though, and unlike those elemental wands/staves were an actual intended feature they had gone out of their way to add after promoting these items and whoring for people to spend money to win them, not an exploited glitch so the removal of the two are very different.

I can almost see this exact same thing happening when the potential system change comes.

People are now happy that their weapons have 4/8/12% bonuses on their VIP weapons/Elemental weapons. Nexon decides to change it, and BAM! More unhappy high level players in the community.

Only difference is that most people will see that coming. This one, however, came totally unexpected.

I'm sorta indifferent about this. Happy that it's gone, but it can't be "ELEMENTAL" weapons, without some sort of boost. Something minuscule like 5% and 1% all other elementals wouldn't be that bad, IMO.

Why would nexon intend to give some classes super-easy perfect weapon scrolling while other are left in the dust? Sound like Nexen screwed up as usual and were too lazy to do anything about it. While I understand they are two very different topics, my point is that one, while blatantly unbalancing the game (the scrolls) goes largely unnoticed by Nexon, while the other, not unbalancing the game gets an "intended" nerf.

Well said Chilly. You hit the nail on the head with that post. I dont play mage characters, mostly because they dont fit my personality. I do however feel that it is unfair for a company to do something like this. As the old saying goes, "never bite the hand that feeds". That is exactly what nexon has done and cotinues to do daily to its customer base. Without the end user, nexon would not be able to function. No other game design company purposely goes out of thier way to offend its end user. Take WoW for example. They go out of thier way to make sure that the end user is happy and take care of issues promptly. Even smaller companies like NDoors take the end user seriously. Like I stated in an earlier post, it is only a matter of time before nexon does something similar to your class, if you dont play a mage, and then you will be just as outraged by it. You would then also be wanting some sort of compensation/resolution.

Hmm. Sounds like Anyone holding their breath on this will be waiting at least until April.

Charming.
