Any other people getting hacked?

I'm assuming anyone hacked has by now at least changed his/her password.

So here's my question, and don't answer if you truly feel unsafe still.

Was your Maplestory password similar or completely different to your email password?

Completely different. If it matters, they were the same...About 1 year prior to this mess.
I had to change it for the one time that Nexon made us change it.

For mine that was compromised

College email + email it autoforwards to + maplestory pw

All 3 were different from each other in all combinations.

Anything we can do to try preventing this? Changing e-mail passes and stuff...?

The Sticky made last year to try and fend off the attack may still work, even if it is still a limited form of protection. Otherwise, just hope to get lucky and not get hacked because Nexon clearly cannot protect anyone's accounts.

Hm... well, yeah, but since they get access to your e-mail account, they can simply ask for a password reset, no?

I find this to be strange... Here's what it seems to be like: they get to know which e-mail is linked to each account, then they proceed trying to hack the e-mail and then ask for a pass/pic reset and then hack the account.

Can anyone that got hacked confirm this? I mean, the webmails nowadays usually show where your account was last logged in from, so did anyone check that? If no strange IP shows up then it might have something to do with the hacker asking for a pass/pic reset and then, somehow, intercepting that e-mail (and info). :f6:

Was the email for the password "read" in your email account, i was thinking maybe they intercept it whilel nexon sends it to your email not actually hacking your email. Evidence of this would be the email still unread.

I cant image so many different email accounts being that easy hackable, there has to be something the owner did wrong because being able to hack yahoo, hotmail, gmail and a school email is a little crazy to me.

yesterday and today morning, i got 3 email from nexon that someone tried to recover my password, then, i used this new password and changed my nexon pw just fine.

this morning I also got an email that someone tried to recover my email pw, luck, gmail first send the recover link, then if in 24 hours theres no active in the email, gmail let you try the other options, but my other option is recover pw using my phone.

Getting really weird, i know that the hacker that hacked my account 2 years ago probably still have my account info, but as for now, everything is fine with my account, just got this 3 email from nexon, changed the pass, and nothing happened to my account.

but i xfered all my equips already, better be safe than sorry, since the hacker cant delete my char

So this probably means that the hacker does need to get access to the e-mail after all. Guess that intercepting the e-mail from Nexon isn't really happening (thankfully).

people were all like: OMG U GETTING HACKED HE HACKED A GM BLAH BLAH BLAH. im still waiting to get hacked by him

he just use phising sites, and people fall for it.

my gmail activity only show IP's from brazil, from my house and workplace, my secondary email is safe too, i will report back if i get the reset pw email from nexon again.

I didn't play Maple as long some guys here, just like 2 years I think? I've never gotten hacked

I agree, i've been playing for a long time and never been hacked, i have even been threatened too. I think its some type of trick, keylogger, or something because he would have to be a pretty dam good hacker to be about to gain access to so many different email accounts, those different email companies don't take security as a joke, either they have really bad passwords like they birthday or something easy or they got phished like you said or even a keylogger.

Its just that i had two friends who actually believed that and got hacked one day after signing up and btching that they didnt get the NX.

But yeah my point is probably invalid since people from Southperry are getting hacked aswell and i'm 100% sure nobody here would fal for such a stupid thing.

My email was an adelphia.net email, which was bought out by comcast about 3 years ago and is no longer in service, so good luck with that =/

All that happened to me was the hacker requested nexon to send the maplestory user ID to my email. then support@nexon.net sent an email to my college email that autoforwarded it to my main account email. I found this out 30min later and changed all my infos.

If i let it go on, i probably would have gotten an email saying my maplestory pw was changed
