Was wondering will windows xp be more stable in terms of bossing than win 7 and vista for current and future patches?
With sound driver disabled...
From my viewpoint, it seems that maplestory is moving away from the word stable , be they win7, vista or win xp.
Would appreciate if the experts can give their inputs, especially people who bosses alot like jellyflower.

Actually since they added DirectX 9 support to MapleStory it doesn't matter which OS you use. However in the interest of security and future compatibility Windows 7 would be the more recommended version to use.

I have no problems bossing in XP, and I'm using the same drivers I used with Vista.

You can use some drivers from Vista on XP but it's very limited to Sound Card drivers only.

Korea already announced they would focus on compatibility for 7 very early this year anyway. Considering it gets worse with every patch i'm expecting them to heavily focus on fixing it this next testing session, since chaos is fully out in KMS. Sticking with XP or switching to it when all OS's have problems anyway seems like a really nearsighted decision.

The only issues are centered around minor compatibility issues, most of which are easily resolved by getting newer versions of software or comparable alternatives that are supported, or outdated hardware that just doesn't have drivers anymore or is too deprecated to work properly with newer architectures and software.
Most of the griping I've read in Tech magazines like PC World regarding it is in the business field of IT where companies don't like to upgrade software all the time or stay on par with software releases for compatibility. Microsoft even said numerous times prior to 7's release to get updated versions of software. Where I work we have 16-bit MsDOS/Win3.1 software running still using DOSBox on our 64-bit machines. It's not native like it was with XP-32, but it works.
Little info on all these gripers... most of these gripers who complain about new operating systems are unseasoned or poorly educated IT technicians who fail to realize there are alternatives and easy solutions to common problems, most of which get too comfortable in a position where they work and get scared that they will have to relearn everything when something new comes out. They don't like to update anything nor take risks asking for new equipment that is up to standards and specifications of modern systems. It's only when some rogue newbie joins the work force and ousts them from their golden throne and implements newer hardware, operating systems, ideas, and solutions that work gets done faster, better, and more efficiently.

Well both actually work the same way. However, to gain the full benefit of your hardware resources, I'd go with 64-bit.
