Man that trailer is just full of spoilers. You should probably note that in the thread title for anyone who hasn't played/beaten XIII yet.

Not really sure what to think. Why does lightning look like a Valkyrie?

Let me rephrase, it's first time I recall a logo that was seperated into two persons like this one. Most of the rest have been highly connected.

Thanks for f'ucking ruining FF13's ending for me. Would have been nice to know. Now there is no point in finishing it.

Here comes the hater! There never was a point to do so before the spoiler either! Game is not worthy of the FF brand. Then again that really goes for FF12 too.

A trailer that doesn't start with the ENDING of the last one? Not too much to ask.

@CarrionCrow:

First of all, the FF brand is ridiculously over rated so saying anything is UNWORTHY of it is ridiculous. XIII is no worse than half of the other garbage they produce.

And more importantly, XII was amazing sooo your opinion is instantly invalid.

You're asking for a trailer for a sequel to not at all include the final events of the thing is it the sequel of...
good luck with that.

I agree only in that I've no intent on playing 13 and this spoiled nothing for me.

I agree. Everything made after FF9 is pale in comparison to what came before. But I judge FF12 by the horrible cast of playable characters. Really. Friggin. Horrible. FF13 merely spins off on the same fail design. It repairs the insta fail battle system of 12, but then goes on by ruining it all with abnormal linearity. Bleh xP

Almost every sequel in existence has successfully managed to avoid showing the entire ending scene of the predecessor, I fail to see how this should be any different. It would have been just as easy for them to show that bit with Lightning without that scene, which was completely irrelevant to the actual XIII-2 part, except to say that it's a direct sequel and not a prequel, which could've been done just as easily by saying FIVE YEARS AFTER THE EVENTS ON COCOON.... and then showing Lightning going full valkyrie.

Even just showing the crew looking up at Cocoon would've sufficed. Absolutely no reason for Serah and Dajh to be shown.

I heard the sad music in the video and it made me remember why i loved FFXIII so much. that theme song is beautiful, i hope it comes back in 2.

Anyway... it sure looks interesting, BUT... that guy looks too much like Sephiroth. Considering they made Lightning to be a female version of Cloud... i hope they aren't planning to bank on FF7's success to get hardcore fans to come back to the series. (I might be one of the only fans who likes both the old games and the new ones)

Regardless, it will be good to see some of the characters again, though i imagine that Sazh won't be returning, nor Snow, Serah, Fang or Vanille. Hope probably will, only older and more experienced (and less of a whiny little peach)

I'm hoping they make it different than FFXIII - though i have a feeling they will make it too non-linear that it's more like FFXII

I thought the same thing xD

Their approach is probably along the lines of:
"We know you hated the last game and probably won't play through it, so here is the ending, now lets move on to something you WILL enjoy"

The battle system of 12 was incredible. It was meant to optimize exploration and minimize pointless button mashing and did so beautifully. It's not as if you could go through the entire game without ever actually participating in battle because entering any new area with powerful enemies would require you to make critical decisions, it just eliminated the need to waste effort on weak ones, which in turn made exploring the vast world very exciting and doable, rather than STEP STEP UGH BATTLE.

And while I agree that what Nomura did to some of the characters was deplorable (making Vaan the main character instead of Basch, specifically (this was Matsuno's intention until he left the project)) the rest of the cast was enjoyable. Penelo being the other useless exception. Perhaps you would've enjoyed another ridiculous love story but I frankly tire of them. FFXII had a good political story and that was far more fulfilling than any DOING IT FOR LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP story that the rest of the series to date has featured.
