Posted in the funhause cause its speculation atm, and people will want to rage on it for reasons.
http://www.joystiq.com/2011/01/13/final-...egistered/
Joystiq Wrote:"Corporation Service Company" has registered the "Finalfantasy13-2game.com" domain name, according to Superannuation. The company has previously registered domains for Nier, Mindjack, and other Square Enix games, suggesting that this is also the work of Square Enix.
This domain name could simply be Square Enix grabbing related names just in case, but it could also be evidence of a direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII -- possibly, like Final Fantasy X-2, one built on the engine and assets from the previous, expensive game. Of course, unlike Final Fantasy X, the Final Fantasy XIII "franchise" is already somewhat crowded, with Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII on the way sometime before the end of the universe.
Square is holding a "1st Production Party Premiere Event" in Japan on January 18, so if there really is a new Final Fantasy to announce, we'll likely hear about it, and any costume-change-based fighting it may contain, then.
[Thanks, Vallanthaz]
I guess this means I really do need to finish FF13 eventually.

Apparently they only do this when I actually play the original. haha. X and XIII are the only two I've played to completion, along with X-2...

It's a shame X-2 had such an awful story because it was probably the most fun and fulfilling in terms of gameplay.

Final Fantasy 13 sucked ass.
Theres really no freedom, and your forced to go with the main storyline, not like the others where you could do anything.

10 had the illusion of freedom because you had an entire world to move around in, not a single endless straight line forward for 90% of the game while holding down a single attack button.
It's not having what you want - It's wanting what you've got.

I find it slightly ironic that both 10 and 13 have similar skill upgrade systems. I think they alluded that that in the joytiq post with the "costume changing" bit for the possible 13-2.

Was it just me that hated absolutely every sequel to FF after FFIX? ...
I just didn't like any of these. 10, and much less the others that came after it. The story was getting worse by each sequel. After FFXIII, they just made games for graphics, and even said that games only needed it.
I disagree with all my soul, it's just ridiculous, old games have bad graphics, but the amazing story and gameplay makes it get way better and surpass these "Graphics only games".
It's just a shame to have the Final Fantasy name in such games, specially XIV.

I actually liked the story for 10, but thats going fresh into the games.
Really, what Square is doing is creating FF games that can appeal to new players (the series is pretty old so new players are bound to be there). 13 was nice looking, but needed a looser story to make it great.

Except XII had the best storyline to date so ???? (Even taking into account what Nomura did to it after Matsuno left)

Thank you! I was afraid I was the only one thinking that.

12 would have been great, but the play style made it very tedious.

I liked the game, but I don't really feel they could add much. Their powers are gone (as far as I know) so they cant do much anymore.

Eh, I haven't really played it since I did like half the bonus stuff. I may need to look at the primers and such.

IMO 1, 4, 6, 7, 10, and 10-2 were the best the series offered as far as quality story, game play, and being true to the brand could be done.
(as for 7, what happened down in the forgotten city ruins is STILL talked about to this day as being to most remembered climax ever placed in a game).
I'll list my gripes on the rest (agree or disagree if needed):
FF2 - No real EXP/Level system that made the game next to unplayable later on if you didn't fight correctly.
FF3 - (aside limited availability) Poor Job changing system and lack of direction.
FF5 - Extremely hard monsters, bosses, and even special area enemies made the game a drag out. Great story however but it wasn't enough.
FF8 - Magic system was tedious and annoying at times, confusing, and enemies always matching your levels in the overworld... err... no.
FF9 - Too cartoony, too outlandish, tried to imitate 7 and utterly failed.
FF11 - Not a fan of these kind of MMOs and pay-to-play wasn't a huge turn on with me.
FF12 - Seriously are the guy characters that into their looks? Game was confusing and storyline was less than desirable.
FF13 - Lightning... she's very man-ish... and the non-controlled gameplay for MOST of the game... err... I'm sorry, but no.
7- Dirge of Cerebus was different enough that I won't list it here. And it was quite good.
