Making Money
#21
FrozNlite Wrote:Another high level spot that I'm looking at would be the higher level mobs in Kaede Castle, as they drop big ticket items like 60% Shield for MATK scrolls, Pyogo Mushrooms, and Elemental Weapons(?). Not sure on the last one, but they have a couple drops that are worth major meso, so hunting them for a while could be worthwhile.

Hrmmmm, would you say Kaede Castle nets significantly more than Windraiders, and even O4/O5 farming?

If we're simply talking npcing boss drops, once you get to be around level 100 you can also fight captain latanica. It's the boss of Boat Quay Town in Singapore, it has 2 million hp and drops Sunset Dews and Reindeer Milks. There's also Latanica's Lantern that it drops, which npc's for 100k mesos.

How does merchanting even work now anyway? Scrolls are barely worth pomegranate now, and I don't trust gacha items like chairs, hard to find the exact price and it can change in an instant. Serious question, how do you get into merchanting at any money level?

On topic, I assume you already know about quests like the one in NLC from John Barricade that gives a free 60% glove attack, or the level 90 quest in Kerning with a guaranteed Overall Int 30%. Also, steelies drop pineappleing everywhere now. If you're at the level where some of the better monsters that drop it are good training (Dark Drakes, Homunculus, Ghost Pirates, possibly Saitie, Red Dragon Turtle) then you can find a few of those while you train. They're like 1.5m each now but not too bad.

Edit: Scratch that about the overall int, Master Death Teddies are 116 now...dunno if the quest level changed, but you won't be getting those quest items at 90 >_>

I did the "Fools Gold" quests and got 400k killing leprechauns before the reward mesos which were 200k total. Good for level 42.

Fools Gold?

Also, place to make money/train for lvl 54? I already know about Muddy Banks.

I was wandering through Neo City and all I remember was it was the "high level' series of map that didn't require any parts of the quest to be done (the set that I think houses RG Type S) and those monsters there drop two sets of meso sacks so if you want straight meso farming, those might be like Leprechauns but more mobby. Again I have no one to visit the map with at the moment so I can't get in to check what I vaguely remember nor do I remember the level or HP of the monsters but I'm sure someone here can ninja me before I return with the results.

RGS is level 160, spawn time is short, and drops those energizers drinks. So does Dunas Type D (lvl 174).
Imperial Guard Type A is lvl 143. Afterlord is lvl 135.
They all have a couple hundred k hp, not too bad.

Wait, what? The spawn timer was changed? How fast does it respawn? How often does it drop the drinks?

Weren't those monsters removed with BB? If no, is it a good training spot?

I just started the quests for the Ninjas with the aid of MapleWiki. However Elder Wraiths just rape my Sniper >.< Are there any particular maps for WindRaiders that don't have Elder Wraiths in them?

Also as for Merchanting, I find it easiest to merch if you can find an item that holds it value yet varies by a small margin. Based on my experience so far in Maplestory, I'll probably eventually start merching Work Gloves.

I also wouldn't mind hunting for my own equips. Are there any monsters that drop valuable clean equips?

Last time I checked after BB, one channel had 3 or 4 already spawned, and another spawned when I killed them.

I spent about 20 mins today farming drinks (for low level training) and the decent drop rate of power elixirs and elixirs is a bonus also (2 to 5 per kill iirc).

Basically got one to spawn every other spawn cycle. Not really a good money maker imo though.

All those methods are good and I personaly am done with merchanting, I'm just hunting for stuff casualy now for money.

but to those who need tips I can proudly say I'm one of the best merchants around.

over the years the fundamental rules of merchanting have changed alot but the easiest ways to make money now require a good 250m starting cash and a 90day shop.

so supposing you have 250m and 0 items. ( unlikley )
you walk through fm and you have no idea whats worth investing in, first off you should scan the fm rooms atleast 3 times a day for a week before buying anything (unless you KNOW its a deal! )scan the rooms and learn the price of scrolls and the more popular items ( puacs , pacs , crimsonheart cloaks (and its variants ) , Ele staffs , DD staffs, Skis , Boards , Arcglaives, visitor equipment, Belts , Helms (non canon class helms or classless ones ) , maple bandanas and weapons , shields , special gloves ( flamekeeper cordons ) , Yellow snowshoes , chairs and event/itcg items. ) these are the main items you're looking to merchant because they're always in demand and because small variations in their stats means a huge differance in price people often missprice them ( usualy higher then their worth but occasionaly ( yet often enough ) lower then their actual worth )

the other option is riskier but involes greater profit but you can also do both of these at once
you can try scrolling certain equips with high demand ( karstans,Daggers and whatever weapon is popular at the time , for example Evil Wings right now are extremely hot, some guidelines to follow though , dont fully scroll anything . leaving a window of possibility for the buyer to make it even better tuggs on their strings and its cheaper for you, pulling off 2-3 30%'s on a weapon and leaving whatever slots are left open will yeild great profit, for example If I spend 100m on staff 30%s assuming that they're 5m each thats 20 scrolls, if you use 2-4 on each weapon and suceed in making 2 of them +3 with 4 slots left that can be sold together for roughly a 30,35% profit of the total money you spent ( ofcourse you should invest time in getting above average or near perfect clean equips to scroll and look for scrolls that are underpriced as apposed to buying them full price )

some items are worth a whole lot if you pull off 3 30%s with 3/4 slots left some like a karstan for example if you get an 88 attack clean one then that nets you 103 attack 9-12 str and 3/4 slots you can easily sell it for 200/350m ( give it a week or two ) if you have more money to throw away then potentialing items before dark scrolling them increases their value quite significantly sometimes.

there are also those items you want to keep but because you found them for so cheap you're dying to sell it, for example I found a clean branch nose for 30m and could have resold it for 300m at the time I bought it.
my advice is to sell it UNLESS! the chances of you getting it again are slim to none or if you don't NEED the profit then keep it because you'll probably never find it for that cheap again.

if you however can buy NX regularly ( I don't buy it at all ) you can ignore all this because your money will let you make tons of mesos in game by doing nearly nothing, just get 3 lined clean or above average gear that people need and are in demand (3 lined lvl 9x mage overall for example, cube it till epic or unique ) then cube it till it either has +6% of that jobs needed stat or it becomes epic/unique.
I suggest pirate equips because buccs need str% whilst sairs/mechs need dex% meaning you have a higher chance to obtain something profitable by cubing as opposed to warriors/thieves/magicians/archers who only need a certain stat bonus.
if you are going to cube pirate equips , the 8x/9x/10x/11x boots are great aswell as the gloves and 10x overall.
also cubing capes is great money , any 75+ 3 lined cape can be a great source of income if cubed.

I spent 400m getting 25k NX through MTS ( bad ratio I know ) , with 12 cubes I turned a rare 3 lined black giles cape into (Epic , Dex + 6% , all stats 3%,HP3% ) sold it for much profit :-).

these are just some tips I suppose, not a guide .

I have no idea, because I honestly haven't set foot in Kaede Castle for more than an hour myself, but I would imagine it's decently up there. That being said, the drop rates of any good items could be so low that it's just not worth it, though with PoTs so low in price I can't say I'd be surprised if it was worthwhile.

if you have any 120 chars, instead of using your pap crack, sell it. 3-5m each (windia). finding a steady buyer could make you quite a bit of money after a month or 2. or put the crack in storage each day to stack them, and sell the lot when you have ___.

Takebacker Wrote:Wait, what? The spawn timer was changed? How fast does it respawn? How often does it drop the drinks?

1 spawns every 20-30 secs
100% drop rate for 1 energizer, 1 mana elixir, 1 power elixir, 1 pink elixir, 1 money bag
slightly lower drop rate for etc item, an all cure, and a 2nd money bag
rgA has energizer drop rate of ... about the same as ore drops from other monsters? ive found maybe 5 from A's compared to ~100 from S's while circulating the map.

dunas is similar, but i wasnt really killing him since i could only hit him 5% last level. 100% energizer drop for the 5 or so i bothered to stand under spamming slashes.

Yeah i went there earlier. This place is RIDICULOUS. Stocked up 51 energizers in like half an hour, which should last me for a damn long time. (25.5 hours worth) I'd rather get these awesome pots from RGTS than have it be an actual boss tbh.

I don't think WT mobs have the increased droprate in equipment/scrolls from the potential patch.
That alone makes it very unattractive. And that guy in the drops and finds thread who almost went stir crazy looking for a Pyogo Mushroom. Nope.

I'm afraid I lost you guys when you started talking about Dunas and RGS.

Those are the monsters in Neo City correct?

Also, what's this pap crack for 3-5m ea? =O

dunas and rgS are like minibosses in neo city. with weird (fast) spawn.

pap is excellent exp now, 120-13x chars get 20-40% from soloing 2 paps. but cracks are 1 a day. many people dont have 2 120+ chars. demand for cracks is fairly high. -> price goes up.

Roids, drop loads of dark crystals, alot of moola there
even if you dont like merchanting, getting a shop is always going to be easier and sometimes faster
than NPCing.
