The game has guilds, but I believe that you can only make them by buying a crystal in the cash shop.

I don't play any more, but my Lv58 Bow Explorer's named KazeYukii.
Got a little too grindy for my liking.

It supposedly gets better from 8x~9x or so, then it goes downhill again.
Though, with all the new high-leveled content it shouldn't be as bad.
The real hell levels are from 5x~80, because you're stuck at crappy training spots with skills you've been using the past 20 levels or so.
Or maybe it's because I'm using a Bow. Dagger Explorers supposedly level quicker.

Nah. It's just worse than MS.
At least in MS you get lots of shiny new skills at Lv30 and 70 to tide you over. La Tale just gives you a HUGE 1st Job spanning from Lv1 to 80, with about 8 different attack skills spread across 2 different skill trees that span the entire 1st Job. Every single one of them has a cooldown timer.

It was really grindy before, but now with spooky village, training from 30-70 is fast of you have a partner who can tank.
Besides it has really good music, like:

Then you are definitely doing it wrong. Training solo became impossible for me after 40.

I trained solo at Stegos for forever. Anyway, due to timezone issues, I could never find anyone to party up with.

I found training at stegos hard as hell. Maybe because I was a warrior with crappy hp. But yeah, did you do any scenario quests? Those give nice rewards and the dungeons give the set items wich offer a great boost in stats..

This game is still around?
I played it around when it first launched. It was alright at the time. The controls are clunky as hell though. Running and jumping on ladders and sh'it was more difficult than it should have been. I got a Crossbowman to 42 I think. Haven't touched it since.

Game was nice, didn't like the all the latency you would get and how it messed with controls. Also didn't like that there was no breathe time, hate getting gang raped. It was really pretty though.
I played that private server for a while, then stopped when they stopped paying attention to it. Though, I heard a new PS is opening up. Anywho, all I know is that 3rd job just got released in OGP LaTale?

Looks like it, though it seems it's pretty glitchy at the moment. Well, judging from the complaints here and there.

Time will tell, other people that are working on their PS plan to make theirs open source so LaTale private servers will probably go through a cycle like maple story private servers.

I really liked it and I felt that it had a lot more depth than Maple, in spite of the not-as-fine controls. The music (especially Bird Against the Storm) was notably amazing for an MMO too. I got a Healer/Ice Mage up to level 60 3 months or so after it came out in english, but eventually quit because everyone else was still playing maple and I wanted to get back to them. Not that maple isn't 1000 times worse about it, but the game started to get too cash shop-oriented for my taste around then. They started selling pets, scrolls (puzzle pieces I think), bonus exp on gear, and other silly stuff, and it all felt like it was on a slippery slope to mapleland.
So in short, a charming game that I wish I could have played more but never could for various reasons. I don't think I'll play free to play games anymore -- they're too expensive.

(Let's hope I don't get an infraction from this)
The private server is actually really nice, I get less latency on it than I do on the real server, heck I can play a blader with full speed. I don't sense any glitches in the game, it would be fair to say that it's the most stable (and only?) LaTale Private server. Maybe the only problem is the fact that there are only 3 channels and sometimes training spots can be overpopulated, even with full parties.

Lv 156 Sword Dragoon there. BelleGlacier.
I really love the game, but i will admit the lag sucks. If you're out of the NA area its near unplayable, or if your connection is prone to lag-spikes. And if your speed isn't perfect even in NA, stacking stamina is a must for the hits you won't be able to avoid as a result.
@ Tay. 3rd job just came out about 3 weeks ago. Its worth it, it an upgrade and a bit of a balance patch as well. SP costs on skills get changed around to be more affordable and miscs, which are generally a waste for 1st and 2nd job (save for a few) are changed to be extremely useful at 3rd. Overall, even with mediocre latency it makes the game more bearable due to the damage boost making KB easier.
The quest chain for 3rd is REDICULOUSLY LONG though lol: my Dragoon was roughly 35 or so quests. Some of which involved killing a boss, others 2-3 times.
Changes since it released include Puzzles finally being buyable with Ely instead of cash (but there are now Super Puzzles in its stead which provide a 1.5x more stats). and rediculously OP exp potions that add 200%/300%/500% exp. Which made a lot of grinders quit. On the upside, these and all the 'essential' cash items can be bought from other players ingame through player shops and trades. Its possible to get a hold of almost everything needed with ely legally, but the hard part is getting that 1st character to 120ish to make ely farming at bosses easier.
Solarboy is right BTW. the game is heavily party oriented, especially later on in the 13x levels, mobs can take the average squishy class down in about 5-6 hits. Its possible to solo even with that as long as you know how to dodge, stunlock and manage aggro, but the most efficient exp is in a party. Just being in a party of 2 is roughly a 1.5x boost to exp: as you get 75% base exp per kill (regardless of member, unlike Maple) yet with double the killing power is more like %75 x 2. Party of 4 begets 56% exp per kill, but in the right map where everyone can efficiently DPS thats 2.24x exp.
