Windows Won't Load, Linux Will
#1
Windows 7 will not load. When it reaches the black screen with "Loading Windows", the colorful flag animation never starts.

After a few minutes of this, I hold down the power button and restart the computer. Yesterday when this happened, the computer went into Startup Repair, and it was working again in 20 minutes. Not today.

Yesterday, I did two things out of the ordinary - I spent a few hours playing the Starcraft Campaign on Ultra settings with no technical issues, and I dusted the machine (before trying StartUp Repair, after 7 stopped working.)

A few days ago, Starcraft and my computer just froze while I was playing online. This was preceded by 5 or so minutes of intense lag - I lowered my settings down to Medium with out much relief.

The morning it would not start up, I found the graphics card very warm. I figured it was having heating trouble because of the dust, but I am at a lost now.

Linux, on the other hand, works without any problems.

Currently, I have Firefox, Linux, and Pidgin running. The computer's fans are going haywire.

I have no idea what is going on, and I'm hoping someone at SP does. Thanks.

Check your motherboard BIOS first and then research what the normal readings should.

You could have a component on the motherboard or video card going out. Have you also tried a virus scan of the Windows partition as well?
