I havent played much since the ring event ended...but I'd still be annoyed if they did another roll back.

You've been whining about Nexon's incompetence for well over 5 years now. I swear to god you have Stockholm syndrome by now. That's probably the reason you can't see why.

Welp if thar be a roll back I go onward to minecraft Monocle

So how many of you, as a responsibility of a player, actually reported/submitted this video in a ticket?

If you haven't you really have no right too complain.

Doing so makes no difference -- especially if you cannot provide a solution to this issue, which I assume most people here can't do that. On top of that, if Nexon isn't already aware of the problem, I highly doubt they'll make note if it through logged tickets, as most tickets are ignored for weeks or months at a time before they're addressed. By that time, the event will be over.

The BEST thing to do would be to make a thread that can easily be seen by the staff on their forums with a fully detailed explanation of the problem and a possible solution.

Correct. Tickets can take an upwards of several weeks before an actual human looks at them. The best way honestly is for some sort of massive economy issue to occur so that they take immediate action. Until that occurs I fear they won't touch this issue.

The problem is that once again, the people whom took advantage of the exploit reap massive profits as they have hidden an unlimited supply of scrolls away on untouchable alts. They now never have another need for mesos (or perfect scrolled items) for the duration of any character they play in MS forever. Hackers will continue to hack because it is like hitting the jackpot when its successful. Turning Godmode on in an MMO is too desirable. :/

I've reported the hackers I've seen, though didn't think to send them the video that was posted.

Jamie_Kurosawa Wrote:]It's not my fault Nexon can't hire programmers with a proper education, degree, and certification to actually implement better security than what they have done. It's also not my fault that they never listened to the community, when the community (mostly at Nexon's own forums) are filled to the brim with exp whores, trolls, and degenerates who blast anyone with a good idea, or Nexon goes all Nazi on anyone who challenges their system and structure.

Myself and others like me have told them for well over 5 years how to beef up the security of the game, or at least front some better ideas for them, and they won't even listen or budge off their stump.

And what do we as a community get in return? Rollbacks, false bans, glitches, and more hackers than ever before.

Add in Nexon's inept failure to shutdown GK and others like them only adds to their list of bad ideas and complete failures. I know no game can be 100% hacker free, but Nexon should be able to detect a hack in a few days and patch it and prevent it from happening again at least for a few weeks. Do they? Hell no! Look at how many hackers we've had since 0.48 was out and the numbers have kept growing and growing since then each time. Hell Ecko hacked a GM account, though partially at fault of the GM, even after we had the PIC implementation.

I've been probably permanently banned from the Nexon forums for speaking out against Nexon's failed, stupid, and inept policies regarding security, additions, and overall content management, but it's not my fault they can't take negative criticism and grow better from it. They've been in such a race to catch up to KMS, they failed to notice what else was going on around them. It's not my fault the community has been clogged with nut jobs who could care less about doing things slowly and correctly, and want meaningless things yesterday.

If anything Nexon needs to just stop all content updates and focus on securing them game and wiping out hackers and the hacks they use and releasing security patches and start moving things more towards dynamic content of a 25% client to 75% server based game rather than 10% server and 90% client based game. We only need a client to get content from the server and play the game. We shouldn't have all these .WZ files at all. I've noticed at least one distro that uses a maplestory.lib file to use dynamic content.

Who's to say Nexon employees aren't competent with degrees? The hackers may be similarly talented as the Nexon workers and enjoy finding exploitations. Nexon does try to fix these hacks and get it eventually but naturally they can not divert all their resources to safeguarding the game as I imagine money isn't generated from this.

Also forgive me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Nexon can really shut down hacking sites like GK and W8. If you weed a few out, more could sprout under a new alias or something right? They do make decent money from selling VIP Access too... I can't imagine the hacking sites to go down without a huge fight Sad

Well, I applaud your 5 year long and probably futile effort to get Nexon to change their ways to suit your needs. I'm sure it takes lots of patience and perseverance.

Wish entities like Interpol would get off their ass and do something useful for a change instead of wonder where they'll get their next donut, danish, strudel, or kung-pow chicken from.

I lol'd. Comic relief right?

"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

Yes, talented hackers will always find new loopholes, certainly as long as the game relies heavily on the client (and that is not the current programming team's fault, I believe). But hackers should not be able to reuse the exact same trick twice, nevermind three times in a row, against a halfway competent development team (and degrees have nothing to do with it).

I can't decide if it's fake or real. It's very possible it's fake because of the low framerate. He could have altered every frame with photoshop. I tried to detect a mistake and all I could find was this frame (at 0:35)
 Spoiler
He only would have to alter the images where he is showing the scrolls, (where he is just really hovering over empty spots), which isn't THAT much work, like 10 images or so in total?

Then again why so much work for a joke that's not even funny? =P

If the other students in my classes have taught me anything, it is that anyone can get a degree in anything, so long as they have the attention span to pay attention. That doesn't make them good programmers.

The cursor's not really in the right spot in that frame o_O
 Spoiler
I put the mouse even lower down and it's still not showing White Potion.
Plus it's way far from the description, when in my pic it's right next to it.

Look at the background of the description square too, looks like it was edited to try and match the background. Or at least it does to me.

No.

First off hime is the only one that has any access to the forums, well rather the only one that navigates them. It's her job to keep it clean, there are no adminstrators that actually are even on the forums.

Certain types of tickets based on the description are hold as low priority, thus take longer to answer, and based on the events, recent changes, could affect traffic. Such as big bang, where I gurrantee thousands of noobs were trying to argue about 2x cards, glitched gallos and what have you. They take tickets concerning NX/Hackers to a higher priority. Obviously if you do a few dozen of the same report something is going to catch their eye, and is the only action as a player you can make.

It's like voting, if you don't do it then you dropped the oppurtunity for a hasteful action. Tickets concerning hackers and such are more of a priority than something like an email change, or slight glitch.

You're way too optimistic.
Anything in the "game related" category gets lowest priority ("billing" is of course highest... and even those take a long time to get to).
Nothing "catches their eye" because no human eye even sees the titles of the tickets, much less the text in them, until weeks after they're logged. Unless they have some kind of AI trying to collate tickets that refer to the same issue and alert humans to a frequent complaint... and let's face it, they don't care enough to implement one and they're not competent enough to do it right even if they try. I mean, for crying out loud, it takes them weeks just to give an automated response that has absolutely nothing to do with the content of the ticket.

Actually I've see, Prose, JoeW, and a few other people from the development team on there.

Unless they changed their methods, tickets with the word "hack" in them are even lower priority than regular glitches, unless you submit them in the NX section (and they affect NX)

Hes only saying that to prevent people from trying to find the exploit and releasing it to public. Today I saw white scroll being drop in that one place where you can decorate the tree, its all filled with mesos, white scrolls, and chaos scroll.

A little late considering it was already explicitly detailed in this thread.
