Any sighting of the elusive Big Cat?

Your going to have to highlight the part where it states that only one map id can have jaira. The only thing i see that resembles it is that it spawns once per day per channel, which just means to my understanding it could just spawn in a random map id for that channel.

The WZ files do not show Jaira spawning. If it spawns, it's from a server sided script.

There are five ways you can tell that the Jaguar you are seeing is indeed Jaira:
1) Glowing eyes
2) Jaira is very black - more black than the blackest standard jaguar.
3) When you attack it, you do only 5 damage compared to 25.
4) Because of #3, you can knock back a standard Jaguar, but you cannot knock back Jaira.
5) Jaira also has a lot more HP. He has 300 HP, so it will take more than 50 whacks to capture him compared to a normal jaguar's 3.

Also, looking at the files, I only see one map where jaguars spawn.

You will have to be quick to get him. The WZ files state that once Jaira spawns he gets removed from the map after 15 minutes. So if he only spawns once per day per channel, that's not a very big window.

I've got another person claiming to have found one just ten minutes ago (around 12:45 PM PST). I went around looking for Jairas in Windia, and I ran into someone in Channel 8 who claimed he caught one just two minutes before I CCed into his map. There's like two others talking to him for info as well.

Ask him for the MapID.

@Hazzy, even in kMS it was one exclusive map, supposedly.

I've since left the channel (and map) to look for Jaira elsewhere, and he doesn't know anything about the MapID stuff. (Same for me since I don't know what Fiel means by opening the registry - I'm probably one of the least tech-savvy people in existence. >_>)

open the start menu and type in regedit. That opens the registry. Then you just have to find the maplestory folder and under siFieldID should give you the Id of the map. There are a total of 10 of them 00 to 01

Ah, many thanks. I've used it to figure out that I'm in map 08 (is it the last two digits?), I think. Okay, I'll keep that in mind.

EDIT: On a side note, I'm beginning to notice that some channels have a curious lack of a black jaguar on the top-left platform. Is that where Jaira usually spawns?

I've went around killing regular black jaguars in other channels that do have a black jaguar on the top-left platform, but another black jaguar usually immediately takes their place. Not in the case of a channel where the black jaguar is completely absent. I wonder if it means anything?

EDIT 2: Killed other jaguars, figured out that the above observation doesn't mean anything.

I looked for Jaira today in channels 1-13, in maps 00, 09, 08, 07, 06 and 05 to no avail. ): Bleh..and mardia sucks. We can't even get a team together to look properly ;[

Good idea. I really don't see the point of having 10 map IDs. Darn Koreans. there are like... 20 Jaguars in every map, just make like... 4 map ids or something ;[ or 5...but 10? I guess its cause there is a LOT of Koreans. D:

I feel so happy to find him in 5 mins.... btw his speed caps at 190. Fairly easy to get that with a reg jag. Can't say the same about the jump though.

Found him around 1pm pst Christmas day. No, I didn't camp. Went out and in a couple of times, then cc'd and a blue message appeared.

err, wat. The speed caps at 190? The pineapple man, I thought the extra 20 speed broke through the cap to go to 210. I'm already at 190 speed because of jag boost. The hell have I been wasting my time for then? L> 3rd job wild hunter with the damn thing to confirm. Gonna rage my ass off if the extra 20 speed doesn't break though the 190 cap.
