That's just going by how many alt accounts people have made over the years, not the number of people who -actually- play. They use the ''false'' number just to make it seem like it's some monster-hit game.

It's easy to tell by common sense and some small observations that not even a fraction of that number actually plays Maple every day.

This is concurrently. If 8 million people were to log on to maple at the same time, there would be a large hole instead of Nexon headquarters.

Could be because of that ring event. I mean, I had 3 computers going at a time, and I'm sure others have done the same to a more extreme extent. Who wants to put a wager on the servers not being as full starting tomorrow? And I'm not attributing it all to that, I'm only expecting a decrease from 90% full to about 75% full from the other updates.

The last time I checked, about a year ago, Scania had about 40k users online during the day. 136k on all of the servers doesn't really sound that high.

with all the advertisment and such shouldn't the numbers be higher thn 8 milion/ i was thinking with each big patch and release of new content and classes, they were getting an additional 2 million new players per year. well it suk to be them let me quote them " content that works for one region might not work for another one/ althought we are all the same game, but we are a separate entity" blah blah blah. big bang did not work for gms

136,000 people is hardly the 8mill, 10mill, 12mill or however many million players Nexon touts to the media to make is seem that that many are playing Maple at the same time.

This is concurrent users. There's never even 5% of the game population on at any given time.

They actually have never directly said that, and anyways it isn't that surprising; why would a company not try and look good?
The 136k people on seems really...low

Would be even better if they made hot time event in a time that Australia, Europe and Israel can play. Should be over 30% of the population that lives outside US/Canada.

imagine what would happen if 8million people were trying to suck bandwidth out of nexon.
