So what is the point of Pink Bean?

Satellite Wrote:So what is the point of level 200?

That is what I wanna know. You get nothing but a dumb mount with 180(?) speed, which is outspeeded by Hyena and Jaira... And that is it.

Achievement.
Fun.
No more exp loss evar.
I did it because i had fun grinding, i was on skype everytime grinded and enjoyed it tons.
Grinding=Fun.
Also i got echo too, and i got extra int=more damage.

 Spoiler

But the main reason was fun.

Sadly, nowadays all I hear from my bl is: 'I want to get 1 k more on my range!' instead of 'hee lets go drpq!, the rewards suck but we'll have a good time.'

Lol thats how me and my guild are. "hey lets go do lpq?! Why, we dont need a reason why! Just to kill alishar! =D"

Actually we do that for most of our pqs, just replace lpq with the pq name and alishar with the boss of the pq lol.

We were actually planning on dragon rider pq, but we heard that it d/c people right before the final stage =/ So we decided not to bother.

I suppose maybe its just in Korea or another MS version, but isn't there somewhere a Timeless Pendant that starts out with 27 or 28 to all stats and levels up as reverse/timeless items?.

I think it was Fiel who extracted it from somewhere.

There's a Timeless Pendant in the data.
But strangely, it was never available. As well as the Timeless Moonlight Cape, and Timeless Earrings, who only exist in JMS due to an event who gave those.

Could have sworn it was only like +7 to all stats max..

AFAIK, it's like 7 or 8 all stats, but it levels up a lot of times. Surpassing HT pendant.

Thats alot to be killed in under an hour...

While true, with the new Magic Crashes, reflect can be eliminated and the before this PB had a 50% dmg reduction, so a 70% reduction isn't all that bad compared to the increase in damage we received.

The cape and earrings were in Tespia. The pendant wasn't.

IMO The Timeless pendant originally had to have been either a drop, or part of a quest, and there had to have been some way to scroll it with special "Pink Bean's". It always seemed weird to me that there was essentially no bonus outside of the bosses drops, especially when the Windia group killed it legitimately, and the quest just turned out to be a repeatable quest to acquire a new marble. Maybe it was never implemented at the time simply because they knew it would be ages before anyone killed it? Maybe they decided it would just exist as a 'benchmark' boss with no substantial gear? The whole rocks of time thing was basically useless simply because in the year and a half that timeless weapons would have been useful, not a single rock was dropped.

I agree with this reasoning. Just imagine if the timeless pendant was released now though. Iirc it's stats were like level 140 with base stats after leveling surpassing HTP, with slots for level 14 tier potential stats and accessory scrolling. I would love a 3 line one of those...

Pink Bean IMO is more or less a boss that benchmarks the efforts of teamwork, resourcefulness, and strategy. AKA... Pink Bean (next to Chaos Horntail) is the biggest bump in the road MapleStory has currently to face off against. Plus he also is the only boss to drop Time Stones (unless you managed to get a VIP weapon or wanted to settle for Reverse gear) for forging (Level 120) Timeless equips. He also drops Maple Warrior 30, and a few other things one of which I have heard is extremely rare, the Timeless Necklace.

If it matters, Pink Bean does not even have a quest tied to it directly. You finish the last one by simply visiting its map.

optional super bosses (like emerald weapon) usualy reward the player however with epic items, hence being harder then the final boss.

Squishy shoes anyone?

I imagine something will be done with Pink Bean once that new 160+ area comes out. Especially considering it's [the new area] directly related to Temple of Time. Then again, Nexon is notorious for leaving areas/concepts unfinished. (Ellin Forest, anyone? A shame nothing happened there, considering it had potential to be an immersive area).

Also Balrog's fur/leather shoes.

As for Pink Bean, the Timeless shields, cape, and earrings are showy at the very least. Useful, maybe not, but showy...

Ozma just gives you a Pumice (teaches Dagger to summon Ark), and defeating him makes a nearby moogle give you an Ozma card and a Strategy Guide key item. The Pumice is useless because you can make one using 2 Pumice Pieces...

Of course, there are optional superbosses that give awesome stuff. Like Minerva from Crisis Core. Killing her nets you the Divine Slayer which breaks pretty much every cap.

Well, pinkbean was supposed to drop the necklace, but never did.

It drops alot of Reversed weapons that are average, but are not as nearly worth getting as making them yourself.

It drops a small amount of rocks of time, which makes timeless equips which are maybe 1/10th better than reversed weapons. But with the current potential system and future patches awaiting, they're kinda obsolete.

It drops MW30, which is rare right now of course, but after maplechaos, it'll turn into a Mystery book result which could be dropped by many mobs.

Pinkbean has a pdrate of about 70'ish%, making it so your damage is quartered against it.

Other than the experience, it's not really worth it because of the death ratio of each party during the run and the # of people participating.

I'm really suprised why they even keep pinkbean after the Maplestory chaos patch.

Wasn't Pink Bean's summon to our world part of the Black Mage story somehow?

IIRC Pink Bean was a failed attempt at reviving the Black Mage.
So what, does that mean the Black Mage is pink and pudgy?
