Original League of Legends (LoL) Thread
Oh ye forgot about garen's nerf.

Also yea i got the pantheon bug too f7 doesnt matter too much since i'm normally a tank, but it got me killed a few times still.
And honestly i'd prefer a good mage galio above a tank galio, with mercs and his ulti nerf it's decent but amumu/malphite still beats him with a long shot when it comes to AOE disable and general abilities.
I just feel that a tanky galio brings too little :/ few MR items are cool, aegis for example or banshees.

But i'd say try the free champs, there's usually a tank there too weekly, new champs tonight hopefully.

Else, get IP for rammus, worth every buck IMO Biggrin
Well, here's the new champ.

Also, since no one's mentioned it, 15% CDR boots are coming since Ionia beat Noxus.

Nah, I do see it. But the problem is getting out of there in time when the ominous big ring starts forming. Frown

Hmm, a female sniper perhaps? Might have to look into that once I stop playing against bots and start focusing on playing against people. XP

IGN: Ciellandros Lvl 10 XP

Also, I'm not all that good, or trying to get that good with any particular champ/build/playstyle, I'm just testing out any and all to see what fits. So far Kog'Maw has been the best one, but I've had a decent amount of fun with almost all of them. Though I tend to do the worst when it comes to low hp and/or support champs. Partially due to playing with bots, but also due to my habit of running into fights. XP

I think you'll enjoy Rammus and his Powerball, then.
I'm betting _____ that Caitlyn will be 4800 IP.

And dang, a sniper? This is going to be difficult to keep the pursestrings tightened xD *looks at impulse Kog'Maw purchase*
Rayquaza2233 Wrote:I think you'll enjoy Rammus and his Powerball, then.

Yeah, I tried him, and enjoyed it. Generally I prefer tanky melee characters when I start any game, but I can enjoy the ranged ones too after I start getting the hang of it. I just have a tougher time with ranged magic users, mostly due to them being so fragile. I think once I start playing with people, some of that will change, mostly because the damn bots are good at running into trouble that I feel obligated to try and get them out of so they don't feed the other bots. I pretty much have just been trying all the new weekly champs once or twice and occasionally refreshing myself when they bring in repeats. Once I've tried almost all of them, I'll start saving up for my faves. For now I just have the cheapy 450 ones in addition to the free ones. I'd say judging by my bot play, that I can do most characters average, but there are a few that I've done better with. I remember Kog'Maw the best because he absolutely wrecked the bots and lead to an incredibly short game after I got the right amount of levels and items. I think it was something along the lines of 15-20 kills that game, where all my previous plays had netted me around 10-12 at max, and 6-8 was the average. I doubt I'd do quite that well with him against human opponents, but it certainly made me want to check out all the other new champs when I could just to see if there were any others like him for me. XP
A tip about champion rotations...

Certain champions will show up less often than others due to shear difficulty of playing the champion and the newbie-friendly factors. If you haven't done so already, I advise checking out Anivia, as she's only shown up 4 times out of 50+ weeks in my recalling memory. Other champs that almost never show up that I can recall off the top of my head are Rammus (you already tried him apparently), Shaco, and Twitch (newbs playing against him inevitably get slaughtered and the game quickly becomes not fun for them).
One nub question:

If I were playing tanks (ex: Nunu), do I get Guardian Angel, other armor-heavy equipment, and health-heavy equipment to make myself resilient? I know it sounds obvious, but I want to see what you guys put on your tanks. Big Grin
A good rule of thumb is 100 resists for every 1000hp you stack. Otherwise you are just a big ball of HP for the enemy to lifesteal from.
KajitiSouls Wrote:Garen is laughable now.

Galio is probably best described as an anti-magic tank, in that he gains AP from wh0ring MR, and he has an AoE taunt. He's also 6300 IP; no champion is worth 6600 IP.

It's also a bit misleading for you to say "true tanks" when they're not the only "effective tanks", and having a taunt ability isn't a requirement of a good tank.

In other news, I just saw an Urgot hurling chainsaws! That's pretty cool xD Too bad I still pwned his face, and his team's Shen rage-afked (and got a leave mark).

Sorry for the double post but I just had to say you are wrong. The only "TRUE TANKS" are ones with taunts, ask anyone. Sure there are tanky dps and all but a real tank has a taunt, end of story.
Yes. You generally want to go for damage resistance (armor/MR) before health.
Duelman Wrote:Sorry for the double post but I just had to say you are wrong. The only "TRUE TANKS" are ones with taunts, ask anyone. Sure there are tanky dps and all but a real tank has a taunt, end of story.

Amumu, Blitz, Singed, Sion, and Alistar all say hi.
Duelman Wrote:Sorry for the double post but I just had to say you are wrong. The only "TRUE TANKS" are ones with taunts, ask anyone. Sure there are tanky dps and all but a real tank has a taunt, end of story.

Amumu, malphite, cho'gath, udyr are tanks too.
You use taunt for what? Disabling.
These 4 champions are masters of disabling enemies.
And yea, the champs at above too, besides singed, he can fling but it's not practical cause of the range, and tank sion is LOL-worthy, AD or AP as sion, tank sion simply sucks, his shield and passive aren't good enough to make him a tank

I prefer an amumu as a tank over a shen any day, and galio's taunt is laugheable as pointed out, and a mage galio does better, he's just not really the best to build tanky. Same got morde, morde lategame is worthless if he's build to be tough, his damage output simply isn't high enough and a good team will realize that and ignore him.
I understand where you are coming from but the fact remains that a true tank has a taunt that can initiate a fight and save a carry from getting killed while directing damage at himself instead of his teammates.

That's why you see people complaining alot about there not being more true tanks in the game (I suppose galio is sort borderline a tank since his taunt isn't spammable).

Edit: Amumu(ulti), malphite(ulti), cho'gath(rupture which sucks compared to others), udyr(the microstun stance forget the name),Gragas(ulti),Alistair(Headbutt if you have flash/Laughable stun) all use CC to disable not a taunt. Rammus is by far the best tank between him and shen IMO.
A tank is meant to rush in there, soak up damage and disable.
:/ taunt is a disable, it forces you to recieve damage, if you can stun and enemy for 2 seconds or taunt him for 2 seconds, the stun is by far the best.
A tank is meant to initiate and be able to survive the initiation.

Malphite and rammus are the two best tanks IMO, they are my main champions.
Oh really? Did these other character get skills that allow the enemy team to fire only onto themselves? I must have missed something. Wink
Duelman Wrote:Oh really? Did these other character get skills that allow the enemy team to fire only onto themselves? I must have missed something. Wink

Sorry but i disagree with you strongly, disabling and being a good initiator is what makes and breaks a tank.
Rammus without powerball would make him worthless, even with his taunt, he simply would need to use a flash everytime he needed to initiate, where malphite got disable and initiation in his ulti, he also force enemies to scatter away from him seperating teams as you don't wanna stand on top of him since he makes a physical carry worthless.

Amumu and malphite are tanks. I stand by that.

Edit: Gotta agree to disagree.

*sigh* Don't become a scrub dude. Your reality is not the game's reality, and I'll bet if this were GD, you'd probably get downvote locked on your bet.

And as long as the tank does its job of keeping the heat off of the rest of your team, dumb people or smart people or godly good people, I'm happy.

Just tell me your from sp.
About tanking yes its all about initiating so malphite and amumu would be #1 due to there AoE stun. However presence wise rammus is the greatest wall there is with his defensive curl and taunt. His taunt is mainly used to shutdown a mage carry and dps carry or just to secure a kill or help someone escape but mainly to stop the opponent carries.
Best tank malphite for his stun and dmg+ tankyness. Also rammus dmg super tanky and taunt also nice dmg.
I find amumu kind of lacking sure he can start a fight but its rather hard to come out with him he lacks the tankyness without items to support him. Unlike malphite with his w+ passive and rammus with his defensive curl.
