Can anybody get in FM like they used to?
#21
Yeah, I open it and it's all "lol 42k memory :3" and then once I alt-enter at the login screen [because when it crashes it freezes and if I'm in full screen I have to restart my computer, not sure what the pineapple is up with this] it's already up to 3xxk. I've had it as high as 550k, just running around the Haunted House in Zenith.
Note that before this patch the worst I've had was in the 200k range, and that's on crashes.
It's really interesting though, it's not like I'm running out of memory at all, I have plenty of paging space left and other programs run fine while I have maple up. So I'd like to think this isn't as simple as "malloc till you crash the system".

My computer running XP was flawless before this patch. I'd hardly encounter lag when entering FM. Now, it freezes up pretty bad and takes at least 10 seconds or more for me to move about.

Hm, I can multitask SCII, MapleStory, and WoW with no lag on any of them...

Is it possible that this is an isolated problem? My MS client is allocating and releasing memory like it should be. Stupid memory leak.

I got the same problem.
But my computer is garbage so its whatever.
Guess its more than just my computer, how nice.

There is a MASSIVE memory leak in the client when bossing and visiting Channel 1 FM entrance.

To be honest I lag more than usually. But it does not freeze. Sad

I've never seen it use up that much memory before.

I've never seen an application ever take that much memory in my entire life.

The only other one I've seen is maybe Adobe Acrobat.

But yeesh, it's near impossible to have shop permits stay on a long time for me.

This sucks because I can finally solo pap after this and all I do is d/c in there. I've tired using both high res and low res and both fucking killed my game.

It must be just about everything that crashes you when it comes to those kind of bosses. I can usually kill pap before I crash, but it's really annoying. Though I usually play MS with the BGM muted, but I've heard about the wierd music looping. I've read somewhere, but does it help when disabling your sound driver and has anyone tried that?

I just finished a Zakum run without a single problem. I disabled my soundcard driver and I'm running Win7. I'm going to try Pap in a little bit.

So does this solve the issue with the dcing and glitching for the most part right? At least this is a good fix in the meantime if doing that works. Though, we should still keep bugging nexon somehow to fix their memeory leak thing. Imo, we shouldn't have to be doing stuff like disabling our sound card or do anything extra just to play the game properly o.o.

In the pap map, maple ate memory 4 mags at a time. Mine eventually just stopped at around 1.3 gigs of ram. When i opened system option menu, the memory use went back down to around 400m and then started climbing again. AFTER i killed pap i just sat in the map and the memory use went up till around 1.3g without any monster or anything.

 Spoiler

It was interesting to note that when i selected the system option menu, the screen froze while the memory useage went back down to normal, then the game unfroze. It did the same thing when i left the map, stuck at black screen until the memory was back to normal then the game came back.
