Elemental Staves & Wands Known Issue

The items you have today will absolutely suck in two years. That's the way Maplestory works to keep you playing, and it's unfortunate that things like this happen.

Agreed. Expensive equips have been made obsolete over and over again since the beginning of maple. Remember when those 10 dex 10 speed Icarus 2 capes got replaced by PACs, which got replaced by 3 lined 70+ capes that are found from any monsters? Heck, months after, Im STILL struggling with the deflation of all my equips because of enhancement and potential. Change is bound to happen, and there will always be people complaining because the changes arent beneficial to them, or they lost out on a lot because of the changes. As others have mentioned, its not as if these wands have become unusable; they just arent as ideal as they previously were (or they no longer do what they're advertised). Im curious, does the description still indicate that they will do extra damage with certain elements, or if such a description was around to begin with?

Hazzy Wrote:The balance is justified, but this late of a notice is not. This should have been on the list of all of the other changes and events.

I also agree with this, but then again, I cant say we're surprised; Nexon has done bad PR moves like this all the time, so why expect anything different.

That being said, with the release of this announcement, I wonder if we'll see more. Galloperas/Truckers/Scarlion/Targa anyone? And if there ARENT any notices about them, then is it safe to go and take advantage of them?

The only wrong here is perhaps the fact that they did not give notice prior to the change. Then again that would not have helped most of you because you would not have been able to sell the weapons and earn back what you spent anyway. The nerf was needed, we all know that, and you still have the strongest weapons in the game. I got to say I am pleasantly surprised about Nexons foresight in this matter, I just wish they would have had it regarding Malaysian and Singapore mobs.

Never in their history did they have any info on them concerning their special effect.

I sold my ele wand as quick as possible when I saw that a clean kage outdamaged it on my mage. Then i saw the title of this thread and was like crap, they fixed it. Guess not lol.

Well on the bright side... I now have a lvl 103 FAST speed staff to use for my future Battlemage with absolutely no repercussions. Heart

There were none before Elemental Weapons lost their bonus.

The thing is, if they kept their bonus, I would be more hard pressed to keep it on my AM.
But since they DID lose the bonus, my dragon staff gives me a higher range. Hence, I have no poblem transfering it.

Isn't this how most MMORPGs work?
Your current equips will either be obsolete once expansions come in, or you'll have to upgrade it by ridiculous amounts to keep up.
Even games like WoW work by adding bigger and badder equipment to make older ones obsolete.

I guess you don't notice it much on KMS because even up until now, people are still using the same equips as they did a few years ago, just with a few more scrolls and potentials popped on it.

You are absolutely right. The good chunk of people that constantly speak about endgame, perfecting a piece of gear without any grasp of this must be born upside down and inside out or something. If you fail to understand that endgame is relative and never future proof, you do not deserve to be a top tier player in any game. That said, there is a certain difference between an item going out of fashion because better stuff comes along and an item being nerfed.

Sarah Wrote:What the pineapple. I spent real money on my wand in preparation for big bang. I'd better get at least 100k nx (pain and suffering I didn't actually spend that much, I'm not gross) compensation or a 10% damage buff on the wand or I'm going to go to their office and kick them in the throats.

i know where there office is =P

Thing is, nexon didnt add another item to overpower ele wands/staves. they made it obsolete by changing it.

No they did not. They made it a little less powerful. A lvl 130 wand is still the best lukless weapon you can get and, a lvl 163 staff, that is just pure win compared to all the non magi classes highest level weapons. If you used a lvl 70 or 103 version, then suck it up, at least you were not competing for top tier with it. Also, I did acknowledge the difference between nerfed and outpowered.

Thought the current supply is set in stone, a VIP Wand, on average, is a better choice.

That's good but there is one small problem with that...

The Visitor PQ NPC is missing. So in essence... VIP Wands and Staffs are pretty much sharing the same fate as Elemental Wand and Staffs.

Well Maple be different from other MMO's coz you actually have to pay for you equips (Potential), also your equips in Maple are what define you (not much skill involved in maple).
Maplestory is not you Average MMO.

Maplestory is not you Average MMO.

You don't need to pay money to use potential, using miracle cubes is optional and only necessary in excessive amounts if you're trying to overpower yourself.

It works exactly like other games in which you're not spending ridiculous amounts of money but instead, ridiculous amounts of time to get overpowered equipment.

There's not much skill required in most MMOs, it's just basically dependent on how much patience you have to farm for items and/or how much you're willing to spend.

One class's trash is another class's treasure. As was said before, this is an awesome weapon for battle mages, so since I can still use my elemental staff on another char I'm not that upset.

Plus, in BB my damage went up like 200-300%. I'm ok losing the 25% more damage. Also, I spent hours hunting Chimera for scrolls to finally earn enough to buy my ele staves, but I don't really mind that the boost is gone.

There is actually alot more skill required in other MMO's, i don't want to argue, but your wrong.
I dont know what your trying to say but Maplestory is different from other MMO's.

Do we still receive some sort of damage boost? I have both Ele Wands 5 + 6; I wonder whether it's even worth swapping around now...
