Chaos!
#1
...this is a speculation thread not an idea thread. Please don't move it to that terrible idea forum that no one visits.

I've stated in the past that an apocalyptic maple world is of great interest to me and it seems that with the release Chaos! I may finally get to see those dreams fulfilled. Though, with Nexon, it will probably be disappointing. Before my dreams are crushed and replaced by mediocrity, I want to outline my ideas for how an apocalyptic Maple world would play out.

First and most importantly, the current maple world will not cease to exist. Players will have the option of traveling through a time rift caused by the resurrection of the Black Magician. I think we’ve seen an example of this in the single image we have in which 3 doors are illustrated. Obviously, speaking of the future in the past is a big no-no, so that won’t happen.

However, the past Maple world will be at a point where they are preparing for war. All previous quests will be available as well as some new ones in which you’ll be asked to help various characters in towns defeat monsters and gather supplies.

One such example of what I would like to see is a new character in Henesys, let’s call him CRAIG. Craig has traveled from a distant land and claims to be a renowned hero. The people of Henesys, desperate for relief, put all of their trust in him, and request that you help him in any way that you can. So you’ll go on a ton of quests, each one ending with the hero Craig bragging of his accomplishments and how his training is underway. He gives you an honorary fan badge. After finishing this line of quests, you can go to the future Henesys and talk to one of the refugees who will see your fan badge and explode with rage, explaining that Craig is the reason Henesys has suffered so much. He sold them out in order to save himself… even leveraging himself into a position within the Black Wings. Getting to fight Craig after more quests in the future would be awesome.

I also think that mesos post-apocalypse would be sort of useless. Yes, monsters would still drop them and maybe there’d be some potion sellers who are collecting mesos or something in order to explain it, but I imagine their being a new form of currency, like a token or foodstuff of some sort. Tokens would be acquired by completing quests, and would be required to advance in some situations. I imagine there would be a lot of information trading (think Han the Broker or the Aran guy on a much larger scale) that would require you to have a certain number in order to accept quests, enter camps, areas or even mini-dungeons (one time payment only). Since this is an apocalyptic world, there will be a certain degree of selfishness (or vigilance…) in most NPCs.

Besides refugee camps, I think there would need to be some enemy camps set up around the world in which captured NPCs are being held. Gaining access to these places could be as easy as completing some quests to having to complete a jump quest to infiltrate or perhaps even some bribery or a timed battle like Nihal / Subway PQ.

Of course, not all bad guys will be bad and not all good guys will be good. The depth and possibility in a situation like this is limitless.

What would you guys like to see from Chaos?

Can you answer my question? What is that tent above the tree in the right?

Chaos maple story is good and it seem to be sort of end of the game because nexon wont be able o relese new content that not match to the story (Except to masteria i think)

No one can answer that question, but that is the image I based this off. It appears to be a refugee tent in place of Chief Stan's house. And as long as the kept the areas isolated, it's entirely possible to keep expanding on the past without interfering with the Chaos world. New unrelated areas could be released, or they could expand on existing areas, they'd just need to do it twice (past and future)

No, I've never watched Heroes. It's a somewhat common plot device. Random narcissist pretends to be hot stuff but is only in it for himself. Either turns out to be a coward or a traitor; whatever means are necessary to stay alive.

I prefer the alternate story where he's a coward at first, but then he rises to the occasion, saves the town, and bangs the hot girl whose father paid him to save the town with his prized soemthing or other.

Generally speaking when you "bang the hot girl" the only prized something or other you're using is your...

Okay never mind.

Anyway, I personally don't really like the idea of tokens or other forms of currency. I mean, storywise it'd make sense, probably, but it'd likely end up overcomplicated and frustrating for players. How much is a token worth in mesos? Does it vary, is it set by the game? Do you have to sell your tokens to buy things from player shops, or can you use them as mesos, etc?

It would be like the coins from the Visitor quests (didn't even think of that when I wrote this) except there would be a limited number (enough to allow you to do everything associated with them, of course) and they would ONLY be associated with quest / story stuff. This would include special merchants who could sell you quest items "for the right price." They would not actually replace mesos in any way.

So there would be regular future quests from various NPCs. Some of these would reward you with the tokens. The idea is to promote questing. If doing a bunch of quests gives you access to a really good mini-dungeon in the end, more people would be likely to do the quests. A huge part of the maple community completely ignores questing because there's no good reason to do it, especially if the quests are under your level and give poor experience or lame item rewards. Supplant those rewards with access to safe training areas and questing becomes a necessity.

I think it's just space-time continuum. Remember how there are 3 doors at time temple, they can easily fit that into something. Chaos seems like civilization from like a parallel universe of some sort, integrating into the real maple. Basically every town (so far only Henesys) can have a chaos version, or simply that's the time-space where Black Mage chooses to unleash his presence. An interesting concept indeed though, I mean the Chaos patch itself.

Well, obviously I would like everywhere to have dark and gloomy music and shading. Dark version of Henesys music ftw?

Speculation;
Left portal = past
Middle portal = present
Right portal = future

Middle portal = Time Temple.

You can see Henesys IN the right portal.
In the middle portal, it looks like one of the doors in Time Temple.
And the left portal was just a guess.

Did you even read the post? This isn't about the update, it's about what she would like to see from the update.

I really like your theory Sarah. You know, that meso part makes sense, that in Neo Tokyo, the coins named "Old Currency"are actually mesos.
None of the monsters drop mesos in there because mesos aren't the "future currency", and it became useless.
The only occasion you use those coins is to exchange them with Noran, a guy fascinated by the past and an old artifact collector.
.
What i'd expect from Chaos? Black Magician to get down from it's hideout and finally show up, instead of always sending his stupid slaves.
I also like a lot the concept of "Apocalypse". I think that it'd fit perfectly the idea for the "Last Boss".
.
I was just imagining how the fight'd be. I picture the map as something like this.

How about if "Craig" was named "Empress"?

I think that Chief Stan is going to be somehow more involved in the story than how it is now, considering the only thing that isn't destroyed in Henesys is a statue of him. Or it could very well be Chief Stan solidified in stone like how the Cygnus were at the end of their story.

I also want to believe also that Alex, you know, Chief Stan's rebellious son, will play some sort of noble role in the story.
The end of his rather trivial quest line shows him having remorse for running away from his father, and his home. That basically sets up for a storyline where he returns post-chaos and feels enraged/empowered by the destruction of his home and/or the death of his father.

Perhaps, the Black Mage used the Black Witch as sort of a test for Empress Cygnus, to test her power -- to see if she could find a way to conquer her.

Seeing that she accomplished that, the Black Mage knew of her potential power and/or that he could manipulate her into attaining "more" power, or even, perhaps Empress Cygnus knows everything and is tied to the Black Mage more closely than we think.

Have you ever wondered how all the Cygnus Job Leaders, Nineheart, and Empress Cygnus all got turned to stone rather easily? You'd think that knights of their caliber would be able to put up a fight, or at least know what would be happening, but no, you see that they're all petrified in their neutral positions.

Oh and somehow someone on the Black Wings, I'm banking on the rabbit guy, is really a good guy.

Their story on getting petrified so easily is actually justified.
Dunamis, that knight in Leafre was cursed by Eleonor. She justifies it'd be kinda obvious to invade the land with Black Mage subordinates, and that would cause knights to attack and defend the territory.
But once Dunamis stepped on the land, everyone turned into stone. Because they weren't even expecting such attack. It's not that they're weak as pomegranate. It's more likely because it was a surprise attack, and a curse coming from one of their knights, that wasn't also aware of what he turned into.
