The leveling just got worse...
#21
Dusk Wrote:The exp is worth ~40% more because of the new levelling curve. Training speed is more limited by spawn than by damage, and everyone's damage went up a bit to compensate for the higher HP. Once I actually have a 100% hit rate at O4 I'll be 2-3hkoing with Paralyze + Teleport, and my damage isn't exactly spectacular, so I don't think I'll be killing much slower than non-mage classes were killing before.

I haven't seen O4 yet so i don't know if the spawn is jacked up or not but i would expect it not to be. Everyone's damage went up, but my concern is that our damage didn't go up enough (or the mobs were just buffed too much) for training speed to go up significantly. This is obviously for my situation not anyone elses, since it's clear that you will kill far faster than i will be able to just because of teleport, meteor and mist.

the biggest problem is being unable to go to better exp areas because of the accuracy penalty... it's frankly really annoying to be the same level or really close to things you want to grind on, or else miss forever

30% an hour at skeles at 145 as a paladin on 1x is possibly the most outrageous thing I've ever heard.

Although a paladin trying to train on an elementally neutral monster such as dark wyverns without some other reason is pretty high on the list too.

For what it's worth, I'm getting ~20%+ an hour at grims since BB. They're spawn is awesome, and even with absolutely no potential gear I 2-hit mobs of 7 with acb...

Wait for Lionheart I guess, not much you can do about it now...

My biggest issue are mobs that the game tells you to kill that you can only hit maybe 40% of the time. Kerning Square anyone? Yeahhhhh, that boss guy is hard considering when he becomes available.

Do people not read other threads before posting? There are a great number on this first page pertaining to the "misfortune" befalling high leveled characters with regards to EXP gain post BB. Please. Like iRyahn said, the OP's final hope voiced at the end of his post is already a WELL-KNOWN, NEAR FUTURE REALITY that has been in KMS for a few weeks now. Wait for that if you're too goddamn pissed off to bother grinding. Otherwise, I suggest you follow the advice of others in this thread: train on monsters around your level (duh?). That's the whole point behind Nexon's mob reformatting, so, like Dusk said, when you're at the level of Skeles, hey, you'll find training to be fun. When you're at the level of O4 mobs, hey, you'll find the training to be fun and fast. The game is now streamlined so when you go to mobs at your same level that, when compared to before, give you less of a training boost, you'll have the skills and strength needed to kill them just as fast as before, which, in the scope of the EXP TNL reduction, means you'll be leveling at a relatively similar speed.

Don't whine if you haven't tried. ACTUALLY tried. Every possibility.

Just wait for LHC. Best training maps until LHC was released in kMS for 4th jobbers was Dual Pirates/ Red Nose Pirates. Doomed to there for a longggggggggg time.

Just find the % EXP gained per hit before Big Bang, and compare it to the % gained per hit after Big Bang. I did this with the monsters around my level, and the monsters give EXP 60% faster than before. The only thing that needs to be watched out for is spawn rate.

And does anyone else have problems in Pap? My bgm loops every half second and there's this lag that builds up, and within 2 minutes, my screen is frozen.

Much worse.
Max exp/hour at skels is about 1/3 what was possible before when 2x and bliz were available.
I haven't gotten to qualm or oblivion areas yet, but unless the spawn rate has been raised a lot, I doubt that will be much better.
I suspect most of the ones saying it aint so bad haven't actually tried training (at high level) yet.

For those with range characters:

I am a 195 Bowmaster in Mardia. I tested out the EXP at Obv4 yesterday. I got ~3.7mil exp aka 0.42% within 15 minutes (would've done a full 30 minutes but my partner and his HS mule got "banned for the hack reason" and were dc'd). After factoring it out that is ~14.8mil exp aka 1.68% in ONE HOUR.

Now I am aware that I am lvl 195 and that I do need a lot of exp to level even after the BB patch. But Nexon made such a big deal about how leveling was going to be easier after this update...they failed to mention it was only for people who are lower than 160 I guess.

I have resorted to soloing BGs A/B & Grandpa Boss for 2%, then duoing whatever toads I can find with a friend for another 2% per toad (1% per form). It just seems like it's a lost cause so I've decided to postpone leveling to 200 until we get Lionheart Castle. Even though the mobs are 11x-12x the fact that they have tons of HP will deter away any lower levels from training there which is nice, and will probably reinforce multi training partners in a party again (just like gobys and squids in the old days).

Nexon really didn't do any 160+ character a favor at all...if anything they basically told us to calm down and go make a new character (which I'll be doing once Battlemages are released Biggrin)

 Spoiler

Oh look its Jamie complaining about how her maple experience isn't perfect for her. Seriously just let it go. The trainings a hell of a lot better, its a lot more fun and just plain out better(yes I said it twice) Train on monsters that are your level and stay at them till you move up. The speed of which I gained EXP has gone up DRASTICALLY. Now people will complain when LHC comes out.

Dood. They greatly smoothed out the leveling curve so 4th job is much easier to reach. Even then, despite supposedly being a little slower to level at levels 18x-199 it's still more bearable than before. You're not inclined to train on a 2x EXP card all the time, which easily leads to burn out. What is there that is so much worse than before?

Of course it's slower for Mages, nothing beats KOing a whole maps in a few secs...

Big Bang is supposed to give the lower-leveled players a chance to experience high-level content. Which its has done, seeing as to how lower levels are reaching 3rd job and 4th job faster than ever before.

>Ultimate spamming

Of course it's worse than before for mages; you aren't playing easy mode grinding anymore where you can press one button all day for instant EXP. You've been brought down to similar EXP rates as everyone else.

My level 130 mage gets decent exp on level 118 mobs, (kentauros). It's far more acceptable than ultimate spamming on mobs my entire maple life. But then again, I never really leveled blizzard pre-bb and just spammed lvl 1 blizzard to get my CL to a good level. I haven't tried any higher level mobs yet because I have the crappiest gear you can imagine, literally it's no joke. My wand is a Dragon wand with 134 attack, I have a z helm, a 10 int overall, and that's it.

I'm suprised to hear that EXP gets that bad 10 levels higher, if I can still level amazingly with the crappiest gear imagineable. But I haven't got to that level yet so I guess I'll figure out the hard way.

I guess I don't expect any of you to get it until you get to 190+...it's easy for 14x characters to say it's faster--I expect that from anyone who is a lower level...but don't go around saying to just simply train on a monster your level when the highest level mob monster is 166 and you're talking to a 195.

w/e it's cool I guess...I'll bide my time until LHC comes out and I'll just toad a BG in the meantime...sorry 5% in 4 hours isn't worth my time when I have other things I have to be doing during the day.
