Elemental Damage
#1
Is it just me or is the elemental boost not working? I am hitting roughly 175k neutral with blizzard when i used a clean 123 Last Alien Wand. Then I equipped my ice ele wand 6int 3luk 156 mattk 8% int 7 all stats. I then hit roughly 200k. I just don't think its working. Correct me if I'm wrong sp =(

Elemental Wands don't work.
#3
Yeeep. In-depth breakdown by someone else here. Hopefully something that'll get resolved soon.
#4
These things were made by JMS to offset mages' crappiness. Letting us have our 1,25× damage after Big Bang would make us overpowered, if the game is really balanced now.

But I can't help hoping they will work again someday. (=

I don't mind my Wand/Staff's color becoming pure decoration, but does this mean the best weapon for Bishops is once again an Elemental Staff?
#6
Er I didn't even notice. Mages got Jewed F7 irl.

Hime Wrote:d ear Elemental Mages,

We have received numerous concerns from the community about the changes to elemental staves and wands. Players have noticed a reduction in both the elemental bonuses and penalties with using elemental staves and wands. This change was intentional and essential for game balancing. After the classes were rebalanced for Big Bang, these weapons were too strong and therefore changed to achieve the goals of Big Bang. We understand many mages depended and used the elemental weapons as part of their game strategy. Because of the sudden change, we are working on a solution for our elemental weapon players can benefit from. It is currently a work-in-process and once the plan is finalized we will share the details.

I'm interested in knowing what they plan to do, if anything. I have an Ele Staff 2, an Ele Wand 6, and an Ele Staff 6.

Well ain't that just great. More bad news for mages.
Nexon seems to be getting in the habit of introducing great/godly jobs, equips, activities, and then after people invest time and money on them, they get nerfed or removed.

I'm suspicious though, did they really plan this, or are they just so lazy that they don't want to fix the bug, so they lie and say it was planned all along (but not announced until now)?

That's not terrible. I'm really glad that they told us that it was intended, even if it was through Hime. It sounds about right.

But why keep the items in gach?...

I'm guessing that the change will allow the weapons to still give some advantage unless nexon plans to remove them from gach
and just make them mob drops.

You think that items being useful is what puts them into Gach? Elemental Wands and Staves are still useful. It's not like they have 30 less MATK than their regular counterparts.

I hope that this is somehow another of those -Hime- being misinformed moments...

Ele weapons giving a 25% increase would be that much of a game breaker compared to the other attacking classes?

I spent a majority of my funding pre big bang for an ele wand 8/scrolling due to the increasing costs of potential equips and
now its wasted at this point.

Considering that Arch Mages are balanced after Big Bang, it would mean they are 1.25x stronger than other classes with it. I don't understand how people can't understand this.

Where have I heard those words before?

You can make the same argument with potentials allowing characters to be 2-3x stronger than others around their level range if balancing
was a main issue.

Just as everyone can't afford good potential, not every archmage can afford the weapons.

Only difference is that nexon can make more from cubes rather than relying on individuals to risk money on gaching for a single item.

What the pineapple are you talking about? No other character can get a weapon that gives them 1.25x more damage because they don't fucking exist. Want a bow that does the same thing as an elemental wand? It doesn't exist. Want a Polearm that does the same thing as an elemental wand? It doesn't fucking exist. You could have infinite mesos and you can't buy a Dagger with 1.25x more damage.

Potential can exist on any item equally. There is no equivalent to elemental wands and staves for any other class.
#18
My response : well pineapple Sad

scrolled my wand for god damned nothing. It is obvious that MapleSEA is gonna copy gMS like they always do.. urgh
justin, if you ever read this, did jMS keep the elemental bonuses ?

During big bang's discussion from the updates in kmst/kms, AMs with a 1.25 advantage were still behind the top classes when the
class tiers were determined in vaiours bb charts.
(Despite the flawed estimates I'm referring to the ones where Magic Mastery was thought to give +30% as opposed to +30)

True, the other classes do not have access to such a high multiplier from a single item.

My point was that the elemental weapons do not turn archmages/evans into a broken 1v1 class, its due to the potential system.

Nexon could have just announced that they were fixing the weapons into their original % increases/reductions and their wouldn't
have been an "broken!" outrage compared to the mage community we see currently.

The fact is, mages ARE NOT balanced after big bang. I and many other players have noticed that mages have the power of character 20-50 levels below them, and these are not comparisons based on wealth. Equally funded mages simply do far less damage per minute. Most classes have some type of multihit skill that generally does a fair amount and is spammable. Mages have 2 attack methods, relatively slow, powerful single hit skills, or 1.5 second charges of big bang to perform multiple hits. Either way, they get outdamaged by much lower characters of other class-types.
